Since yesterday (PAL land). Update hell lasted ~45mins for the hardware, and ~5mins for both NintendoLand and NSMBU.

Oh, and of course, there is only one Jackano in the world, and so is on the Nintendo Network now!

I have a pretty little apartment, so I can play in my bed and in the toilets. I bet this will make some jealous here!

Wii transfert done too, I didn't watched the video for me to keep the surpise (i knew the Pikmins were involved) but it is very very cute indeed!

I like the UI (did we have folders? I didn't try yet), except for the Wii thing, and except that the console OS is slow as f**k. Next performance update can't arrive too soon!

Oh, and we have the FIFA 2013 demo. It's cool to have it but the game have framerate drops during some replays/TV-like cutscenes and worst of all, the sound on the gamepad isn't in sync with the TV, it makes an echo and this is very bad.

EU Wii U get! :D No Blue Light of Death, no syncing issues and a launch update waiting for me :p The Gamepad is way bigger than I thought it would be but it fits nicely in my hands. My local store in a small 70000 people town got 5 basic and 5 deluxe units with about 40 people wanting one and the police being there because some people got a bit... unsettling :/

One quick question, is a full-powered USB 2.0 port from a PC enough to charge the gamepad or do I absolutely need the outlet charger?

What's the benefit of following a friend anyway? They both show up in the activity feed, even though all the friends aren't followed.

Also it'd be good if you could just do general updates for friends/followers that aren't linked to games. Hopefully one day we can have a custom GAF community too

Yay, got mine today. And I wouldn't if I didn't go to the store (local Muller) right away and pick one up, since they were almost sold out.

First I'll savour the fact that I have a new unboxed console at home, then I'll stare at the box, then I'll take my sweet time opening the box, then I'll smell the contents and then I'll... update this thing for a couple of hours:/ And no, I won't press cancel; I want to dive in when it's all ready and done.

Mine is going to be shipped today. Can't wait!

Getting it with ZombiU, Mario and NintendoLand and possibly some eshop downloads. Will keep me busy for months :)

wish more of this stuff were explained but in Iwata Asks Miiverse it seems features can always be added after launch so who know how much Following will play out later.

Fifa always has iffy frame drops in replays, as long as its not in gameplay i might be interested.

Ah, the hell. Europe/Australia has a Uplay community and we don't. Interesting...

that community is what? Ubisoft talk?

Some of these communities are a waste but I guess they are good places to have general discussions Youtube community can hit endless topics for one.

All hail ubisoft, its interesting that nintendo is going to be open to having different dev communities though very cool.

I don't think all devs should get one, just the ones that put a lot of support on the platform. Ubi has earned it.
Origin App can join when EA steps up a little more :p

I'll give Rockstar a community for GTA :3

Urgh. I know this has been asked a ton of times, but my Wii U can't access the internet :( What are the instructions again - and can I use those when I'm on a Mac??

Yeah, finally I'm in *-*

To be honest it was quite to easy to get a Wii U in Saturn (Germany, Bochum)

Oh that's interesting, I guess it's easier in bigger cities with more stores available, my town literally only has one Media Markt for 70000 people that sells things like Wii U's.

I can't connect to the Internet with the same setup as for my 3DS and Wii (just tested the former and the latter also not too long ago) from the same exact spot. Any suggestions for this?

Has anyone else in the EU still got the default miiverse screen with all the nintendo mii's on it when they boot up the system?

I've installed the update, linked my NNid, gone on the miiverse app and it still hasn't changed.

got the official screen protector from nintendo, i didn't see any other pictures of it in this thread so i thought about posting some:

sorry about the image quality

seems like they are using a system similar to Hori's to apply the screen protector.

i cannot try it yet, because i promised my bf i'd wait for him to come over to actually unpack the system

Bought a big lumpy charge dock thing from GAME. If it is too clunky I'll just use the AC charger as a spare, but it can charge wiimotes too so might be handy.

Their game prices are expensive but a lot are heavily discounted if you buy at the same time as a console

So, the background downloading for the system update doesn't actually work then? At least not in Europe?

http://www.reddit.com/r/wiiu/comments/13gadt/wii_u_will_download_the_update_in_the_background/

I hit cancel and played Mario and Nintendo Land for an hour. NOTHING was downloaded in the background. And when I go back to the system update and start it, I can't actually cancel it again. And the progress bar is at zero.

*Is* there any way to download the update in the background/cancel the update once it's started or is it all bullshit? Downloading it manually is agonizingly slow despite really fast internet here.

All set up. TV and set top box remote stuff is cool. Wi-fi and internet access was a doddle, didn't need to fanny around with the settings (well apart from the fact I forgot my wifi password and had to log in to router management to find it).

The gamepad is awesome. Great weight and fits comfortably in the hand, good sound coming out of it too. I found the touch screen very responsive to finger touches during set up.

Update downloading, fingers crossed nothing untoward happens....

How much did it cost you, and what's the quality like? I tried to get Grainger Games to sell me one yesterday, but they couldn't get a price from the till.

Just to confirm, if you hit cancel when prompted to update, it will download in the background?

it didn't work for me.

anyway, got back half hour ago. got the zombiu bundle for the price I pre-ordered it. they tried to sell me a ton of extras and warranty, but I bought my bundle along with assassins creed 3 and new super mario bros u for £400.

hell yeah. it's a beautiful machine, but dear god the update is sooooo slow. it's been on for 20 minutes updating and it's still only just turned blue on the progress bar. terrible, upgrade your servers, nintendo.

Australian version here. I didn't hit cancel, but the downloaded kept getting errors for me and I had to keep promoting the download to start again (in which it would resume from where it was up to). I got fed up with the errors, so I just went and played games. Started the download again afterwards and it was almost complete!

So background downloading is definitely possible but I have no idea how I made it happen lol.

So what's the situation around Europe? Stores selling out or still plenty games/consoles?

My local GAME had two ZombiU bundles that weren't pre-ordered but said they have 10 attend midnight launch, and while I was picking mine up there was at least 4 others picking theirs up.

In terms of games I heard one colleague say they got around 40 odd copies of a certain game but that was to last them for the rest of the week after the second delivery of consoles on 5th December.

wifi not MAC adress protected ?

No idea lol. It's some standard shit from my internet provider, never bought a router myself. (And I'm not the one paying for the internet connection here either) All I know is that 3DS and Wii work perfectly fine when I try to get online, while the WiiU apparently doesn't connect with the router. At first I've entered a wrong password, which put up an error quite quickly. When I put in the correct one it loads much longer before eventually giving me an error message.

From what I gathered you just have to set-up the connection manually :)

Doesn't really work, no. :/

Alright, so I can get my Wii U to connect to my Router, but not the Internet. I tried manually inputting the data as the guides say, but no dice. No connection to the internet... urrrghh..

the game I went to had a number of cancellations, so they were trying to push it to people who were there to buy far cry 3. no takers while I was there.

I also had a look around the store. they were selling darksiders 2, arkham city, assassins creed 3, super mario for £54.99. the rest were a combination of £50 and £45. there was one £39.99 game, a compilation.

I'm very pleased with my haul. £400 at the till, using my reward card credit, I got the price down to £76.00. very pleased, a brand new console for the price of two new games on 360 or ps3? :D

I had the same problem for a long time. Finally got it going by manually entering everything, and make sure the numbers in the IP after the last period aren't already occupied by another device. You could +10 or whatever to the last digit to be safe. For example if it's 1, make it 11. Or 12 or 13 or whatever until it works.

That worked initially for me, but I still had problems, in which rebooting the console would help. Thankfully after I finally got through the update, Internet has been fine.

I know it sounds obvious but try rebooting console. After I finally managed to connect to my router, I then had this problem, but a reboot or two seemed to get it going... And fiddling with the final digit(s) of the IP.

Btw guys, apparently the point / money conversion thing for premium members is different in Europe.

You get only 8 points for every Euro you spent.

Old news but people might have missed it

Whether its 10% or 8% it don't make much difference we still getting screwed on the eshop either way

Are different stores running different offers/prices or something? All Games barring ZombiU were £50 or less, nearly every title was "Get me for £25 when bought with a console" and the initial bundle for me was £350 for Deluxe, any game and start protector pack.
