Well, both. It's making a constant connection between the base unit and the pad. My router is in a closet just outside the room my console is in. If I walk next to that closet, which is a mere 10 feet away from the console, the connection dies. If I walk 10-20 feet from the console in a direction away from the router, the connection is pretty solid. If I go upstairs in a room directly above the console, connection is perfect. Just gotta avoid things that will cause interference. Routers, bridges, microwaves. Also dont bury your console in an entertainment center.

Standard routers, microwaves, cordless phones etc shouldn't interfere because the gamepad is on 5GHz. If you have 5GHz wifi then that might. And if you do have 5GHz wifi, you'll know it has shitty range too.

If you go digital with all your games, you can be much more flexible in your positioning. If you really need to game in your bedroom for instance, you could ceiling mount the wiiU in your lounge and run a long HDMI cable to your TV.

Do the tears owns tell us anything about the directionality of the wifi? I bet someone could open it up and mod a larger antenna on that thing too. Try shielding all the sides that are away from where you want to play in foil, to reflect the signal back the way you want it.

I want to see crazy Heath Robinson wiiU extender setups.

One thing I don't like about the Wii U is the load time between menus, what on earth is going on there? It feels like GT5 with it's network loaded menus, but since I am not online (until today, just moved house) it can't be that.

I hope they give us an optimised OS, they could be working on something newer since the game doesn't actually ship with a proper one anyway!

I hope they fix it at some point. Although, I've had the system for nearly 2 weeks now and I've gotten over it. I guess that'll make the (hopeful) speedup that much better.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.

Still waiting for the console to arrive.

Great! My WiiU arrived last night but due to my Virgin broadband suddenly running at sub dial up speeds I couldn't download the update. Got up 5:30 this morning (having booked the day of work) in the hope the speed has increased and it has, but only by a tiny margin.

I started to download the update not long after 5:30am, and as of 8:30 I'm about 30% done, gonna be a long day!

Been in the phone to Virgin and apparently the exchange I'm on has capped everybody on it to super low speeds and isnt reverting back to 100%, gonna be fixed by 2pm apparently - I hope they don't 'switch off' the Internet alltogether when theyre sorting it out or my WiiU will brick (i think - can anyone confirm?)

On the plus side I did receive 2 copies of Blops2, I only ordered one :)

Mine came in.

The GamePad is fucking huge. Like, ginormous. Chop it off at the edge of one side of the screen and that's about the size I was expecting.

There's some kind of large screw hole in the back that looks like it's for a tripod or something. Weird.

Does anybody else's connection drop out & in constantly? :/

Doesn't happen on any of my other devices, just Wii U.
Disregard this. Just moved the console from semi-enclosed space to an open space. Wifi signal seems much more stable, and best of all, gamepad distance is way better! Bedroom gaming now possible :D

Interesting fact - my version of Zombi U doesn't include the recycling logo cut into the box.

You're from Europe, right?

Because I spotted this when I called my PAL version of Xenoblade when it came out. The box was without this shit while Nintendo was and still is doing this practice in NA.

Has anyone tried scanning a QR code for a Mii yet? I tried yesterday and I couldn't get the Wii U to read the one from my Mii on 3DS. Probably doing it wrong.

Just got my Premium Pack. Damn that console looks great in black. The GamePad is a bit bigger than I thought.
Now I only have to find some space and an outlet and the patching can begin. :)

Yep, UK.

High speed internet connections are rated in megabits per second. So 1mb/s is actually 128 kbytes per second. That's only 230 megabytes in 30 minutes.

But he is a human being and not an corporation so he could have meant that he gets around one MB per second. I usually do so and I max out at 1.4 megabyte per second. But my internet is ~10 mb/s

Just picked up my Premium edition from GAME.

Two girls infront of me had pre-ordered a ZombiU edition. They definitely wanted the ZombiU edition, because they paid the extra for it and actually kicked up a fuss when the girl behind the til originally thought their pre-order was only for the Premium. So they pay and the clerk starts bagging up the system. As soon as she does, one of the girls asks her not to as they want to open the box to trade in ZombiU for Mario. The member of staff prices up ZombiU, which she gets just £20 for, and then they pay the extra £30 for Mario.

Absolutely baffling.

Of course my update shits the bed a quarter of the way downloading.

I don't mind doing the update, but having to baby it constantly is annoying.

So Mario is £50 in GAME, then, eh?

Has anyone bought it from German Media Markt yet?

I am curious if they also use that Dutch price of 326€ for the Deluxe.

In any case, I shall go there sometime this morning.
Just got mine from there. Deluxe for 349€.

I was so lucky, got there three minutes after they opened and they only had three deluxe bundles left. ZombiU bundle was already sold out. When I left, 3 basic bundles remained.

Glad to see all you Europeans/Aussies getting your consoles...whether it's going smoothly or not. :p

Be sure to add me! NNID: GiantEnemyGoomba

I think Nintendo should change the following system so you automatically follow anyone you friend. I can't imagine people being against that and I'm pretty sure most people don't think of following someone after sending a friend request.

Ah ok, full price it is then. Thank you.

I pre-ordered mine weeks ago, they better keep it till I arrive in about two hours. If not...

Yep.

I didn't check the rest of the prices as I intend on getting my games from HMV (where I've got a fair chunk of credit on a card), and have no intention of paying £50 for games anywhere.

So what's the situation around Europe? Stores selling out or still plenty games/consoles?

My local HMV haven't been taking pre-orders on any of the 3 models for weeks now and the GAME I ordered from ran out of Basic and Premium models this week. When I was in there they were re-packaging display boxes with £20 pre-order deposit labels, presumably so people could pre-order for future shipments.

Does the Wii U itself not come with a Club Nintendo points? Mine had this typical red Club Nintendo leaflet, but it doesn't have a code on it.

Link your console to your account through the eShop and go from there. It's different than normal.

I found out this last week and I dont know if it has been talked about but on your bday the music changes on the home screen and confetti rains down on your mii.

Cool. I was hoping special things would happen on certain days of the year. I'd love to see them add more interaction.
