So, Wii U is out in less than 2 weeks or so (Japan) and I'm planning on getting NSMBU, Nintendo Land, Zombi U and one of either ACIII or Batman.
Does anyone have either of them who can give me impressions of which is the better port?
FYI, Japan has less games announced for Japan on the Wii U on Nintendo's site than there were launch games for the US. Th list includes stuff like 'Smash Bros.' and 'Monolith Soft Project'.
Nintendo Land is a lock. I've been enjoying the single player games.
NSMBU if you can handle its strong similarity to its predecessor (I was fine with that except the music... whoever was in charge of that should be ashamed)
ZombiU if you're cool with FPS (I've always been turned off by first-person perspectives since something about them makes me motion sick, which is a shame since it keeps me from playing a lot of great games)
ACIII is the better choice, I think. If you're going to support WB with your cash, you're better served getting Scribblenauts or Injustice when it comes out.
Oops my system has a problem. That's ok, I'll just return it to the store and get another one. Better remove my account first. What's that? You'll delete it and I can never use my desired username again? And my eshop purchases are all gone? Shit.
Hmm, NSMBU was ok, but this post launch drought is annoying. I'll sell my WiiU on Craigslist and buy one later in the year when zelda comes out. Oh shit all my stuff is gone forevar.
Hi Frank. What's that, you got a WiiU - cool, me too. You want to come round and play some BLOPSII? You can log into my WiiU and bring all your XP along. What's that? You ant because your account is locked to your system? Fuck.
In situation #1... given the season and the very unlikely scenario of finding a replacement deluxe you can simply exchange with, I kinda see this as a non-issue until after the holiday season. Also, don't the majority of stores charge re-stocking fees for opened electronics and ask you to refer to the manufacturer for warranty assistance to get a free replacement anyways since salesmen are not qualified/trained to assess malfunctions?
And not to take away the validity of situation #2 being possible, but the system's been out for a WEEK, isn't it a tad bit premature to call it out for having a "post-launch drought"? If nothing else in the 20+ launch titles interest you and aren't willing to hold onto it, perhaps a re-evaluation of an impulse purchasing problem is in order.
Truthfully, I expect these issues to go away only after the Deluxe promo is started. Part of how that works is, in December, you register your NNID along with a console identifier (likely the serial #), Nintendo confirms that NNID is in use by the matching console and you retroactively get credits for anything you bought prior to the start of the promotion. If NNIDs are getting swapped around to different units, that makes something simple as claiming your promo bonus into a REALLY messy ordeal for everyone involved.
After that, though? Yeah, the NNID will be permitted to be used on other systems, just a matter of when.
