I got to say, I really missed the joy that is to use a WP, I am still configuring my Phone but everything I use (except obviously Instagram is on there so no problem so far :)

What are you coming from? And congrats! :D

A Galaxy Note (the first), my first impressions from the Lumia is that the weight issue is exagerated but maybe I feel that way because I came from the Note, but it is definitely too big fro its screen size, no big deal. Its faster and more fluid than the note on Jelly Bean.

Of course there are far less apps than on android, but everything I use or need is integrated on the OS (which was always one of the things I missed so badly on Android) or on a third party app except for Instagram. As for games or currents/flipboard/books I have an iPad 4 so I don't feel like I am missing something, I got to say though that if I didn't have the iPad for books, comics and flipboard I wouldn't get the WP.

One question what is the latest version of the OS?, I got 8.0.10211.204

the weight is fine for the 920. The problem is it is just too damn thick. If a phone has a large screen, it needs to be thin.

Why does Xbox Music DOWNLOAD all my playlists? Where does it say that? Thanks for eating up my data for this month without letting me know. Ugh, should not gave it a second try.

On Windows 8 or on the phone?

On the phone it definitely shouldn't do that. In Windows 8 there's a setting that you can switch off.

I'm need some advice folks. A friend (who used to be a WP7 owner, but has since gone back to iOS) has given me his log in details so I can access his games, apps, etc.

I've logged in fine, but every game or app I try to download, it says try or buy. There's no option to download again. I know MS use licences, do they need to be transferred to the phone or am I doing something wrong?

Just hit buy and it will tell you that you already own it.

Ah, so simple yet it didn't occur to me try it. Thanks, downloading Hydro Thunder now. (how did I not know Hydro Thunder was on WP? Would have bought one much sooner had I known.)

Any games/apps recommendations for the Lumia 820 from the fine folks here?

Another WP8 only app... I seriously need to upgrade soon.
I know... I'm holding out for the May 14 even to see what Nokia has coming. If there is new phone that would replace the 920 (on Rogers) that looks awesome then I will wait for that. The catch is that the 920 would be free if I upgrade to that now where as I would probably be paying for whatever the new phone is, so hopefully it is enough of an improvement to justify waiting and paying more.

Even with the cloud turned on it shouldn't actually download the playlists.

They should simply be available for streaming and downloading.

has calmed down a bit.
8.1 won't make it this year, but compatibility with quad core processors and 1080p screens should be available this fall for oem's.

I doubt we will get any major new features with gdr2 and 3, but Nokia will sneak in some stuff for Lumia users.

Is there any way they could sneak in sound profiles, like they're doing with color profiles with GDR2? I really need separate volumes for different situations.

Don't kill me guys, but I really don't understand why you'd want to have to mess with different audio controls rather than a universal toggle. I hated on Android when I was never sure if I actually turned the volume down. Then you play a video or get a text and the volume is different.

I hope you guys get the volume controls, but only if I get a way to keep things the way they are.

My complaint from the very first page of this very thread.

"No volume adjustment by source. I just love turning down the browser volume so the porn is nice and quiet, and now I'm missing calls because that also turned down my ringer. Brilliant."

So what ends up happening more often is you think you're turning down the porn, but you were really turning down the ringer, so when the porn video starts, its loud as heck. Brilliant.

Give me the current settings, have some options that allows you guys to have to adjust volume on every part of the OS individually.

The volume/ringer control is contextually aware from what I remember.

I don't know how Android works with regards to volume but I know that the way iOS handles it is insufferable. It's extremely difficult to determine what the rocker will affect and when. Sometimes it'll affect "ringer", sometimes "sound effects", sometimes the app's sound volume, sometimes even something else.

I just want a freaking mixer that shows all levels, and lets you configure all levels. Sure, let the rocker be context-sensitive, but give me a single button press to show the full mixer and see exactly what every level and every context is set to, letting me also configure them.

On Android you can have a mixer that show 4 volume bars, one for the ringer, one for multimedia, one for notifications and one for alarms. Its great and better than iOS or WP. Here's hoping GDR2 has that problem solved
