I laughed that he couldn't stay put. I didn't remember this from the manga, and Toei's stretching didn't do it any favors. There was like, 90 jumps so he could say a sentence or two. Aside from that, I actually liked what they did in the fight, even if that final attack is still dumb.

And it should be poundman, not bounceman =(

One Piece 726

Here I am, watching the One Piece anime again because I always feel the need to check out the episodes where big shit happens and the anime usually does good by them. So I skipped 11 and a half minutes of not Gear Fourth so I could get to it and

Nope. Still looks dumb as fuck. The moveset is cool but did he really have to turn into a Rob Liefeld character? Oh well, it was in fact better then your average One Piece episode. So still not good. You tried.

First the news that this year is the 'year of sanji,' now this? One Piece definitely staying dropped.

But I love 4th gear.

The Year of Sanji starts off with him getting owned so when Oda meant Year of Sanji he probably meant he was gonna dump on him some more

Dressrosa was a massive disappointment but Oda still nails the after arc and setup stuff. Current arc is whatever.

I feel like I could write a book on my disappoint of One Piece post timeskip and then another book on why One Piece is still great and worth reading 800 chapters of.

Decided to check if Kaneko was confirmed as the art director for Kiznaiver and complain he's being wasted on bad shows but turns out it's Masanobu Nomura. Welp.

Gear 4 was never that exciting, once you get past three then you should be doing something else. Its why Kishimoto handles Naruto so much better. Each Rasengan is vastly different and more improved than the previous, from Rasengan, Giant Resengan, Rasengan Super Barrage, Planetary Rasengan and more he keeps them fresh.

Luffy could have easily had more moves.

Oh right, that show. lol

Also come on, GATE is just pro-Japanese porn now. It's a fantasy how asymmetrical power is supposed to be so effective when both the Americans and Russians learned that it's literally impossible to bomb a people into submission. Yet here you have the Japanese just bombing these phantasy guys because of the most obvious reason in the world - rape.

Reminds me of alternate history fantasies where the South wins the civil war and stuff, and certain unfortunate details are glossed over because to acknowledge them is to make monsters out of those involved.

How the fuck does being overseas excuse you from not knowing basic shit about the world you live in? Is China in a different dimension?

Well of course. Don't you know? Every country that is not where you are from are in different dimensions. \s

This is the funniest shit I've read in a long time. Thanks.

Brave Beats Episode 12 – Dancing Love?! Mink and Tank's Day Off!

Well the writers clearly like Mink and Tank, they might as well have been on a date the whole time. Too bad misunderstanding was all over the place.

Fun times in the hot baths though. Hibiki and Breakin had fun in theres, while the girls reminisced. I wish we could have got their transformed versions too. Flash beat would have been nice to see.

Haha, I feel you. I love One Piece, but also I'm frustrated with post-timeskip One Piece, but also I love One Piece.

Steins;gate 8-15

I've enjoyed Okabe's character development up to this point. This is a good anime. I will say, though, I'm enjoying it less now than when I started this morning. The turn the story's taken... isn't quite where I think I wanted it to go. It got too, I dunno, the whole "fated to die" thing is kinda bleh. Suppose I'll see how it concludes. I was enjoying it much more right around the point the divergences started making Okabe panic, and while I realize this is sort of the natural progression, I just, eh, I dunno.

14 episodes so far today. I should... maybe take a break from anime. I've devoured so much anime in recent weeks. I go to work, I come home, I watch anime. Phew. Weekends are worse. Where's my time machine so I can go back in time and stop myself from ever watching anime?

Everyone made it sound so bad that I couldn't bring myself to even check it out.

It's only worth watching in screenshot format, really. Should have just eliminated all dialogue and all humans and just had robots wandering around an urban ruin and communicating non-verbally. Now that would have been a good show.

Modern animation learned nothing from the mistakes of Wall-E.

Boboka Bebeko's most offensive trait is that it is clear to me the writers and creators have zero respect for the audience. They feel entitled to success and viewership as long as they can put together what they think people find cool. I say, fuck them.

Divine Gate-2

So this was a better outing than the first episode. Of course when the bar is so low, it's more challenging to get under it than over it. There was some sort of theme with this week's writing and I did like the concept of it, mainly that subconscious fears can override conscious desires. Not to mention there was no awkward dialogue so there was an improvement on that front too. Now all of that said,
This show has some of the most overwrought dialogue I have ever seen in any medium.
There's a scene in the second episode of Divine Gate where one of the heroes gets angry at a disabled traumatized old man because he can't go save his son who is clearly out of his grasp.
It does make sense in that people in real life would probably do the same too, saying that the old man should have risked his life to save his son or die trying.

Koufuku Graffiti 10

I'm so glad we got an episode focused on the downstairs neighbor who's been showing up continually in the background of various episodes. Seeing her awkwardness and loneliness melt under the influence of Ryo and Kirin was so sweet. This show isn't really about food per se, but about food as the means for bringing people together in friendship, and it does that so well.

I really liked this bit at the end:

Ryo doesn't verbally finish her thought, but as the camera zooms in on the blossoms waiting to burst forth on the tree next to her, we know exactly what she's thinking. It's the perfect marriage of spoken word and visuals. All too often anime (and, to be fair, this happens elsewhere in film/TV) doesn't bother with visual storytelling but just dumps text at us (like a certain show whose initials are B.B.) so I treasure moments like this.

Huh. Lots of vertical pans. Repeated takes on explosions to let you know that everything is truly getting nuked. Atsushi Ikariya is a weird guy. For all the action there was a lot of stillness (a side effect of the poor sound work). I just want to go back to them fawning over BL mags tbh. Also, this out Magi-d Magi. I thought most people were just supposed to be pretty normal in combat but I had to bust out my DBZ power reader on this one.

Can we get an anime adaptation of this? We are getting adaptations of everything else this year and I think we could do at least a 2 cour off the material here.

Goddammit.

Concrete Revolutio 01 again

Yep, still feel the same way I did last time (not positive) but I'll actually bother watching a few more episodes since last season Sunday was the day to cut the fat for me.

I could be watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes Love Live!!!

Rakugo-1

I really really liked this except for one aspect. The pacing. This felt really fast with the amount of things happening in one episode. Maybe because it's a condensed version but it could do with things simmering longer like
Yotaro being expelled. Yakumo changing his mind happened a bit too quickly.

It's a shame that the full length version of this is untranslated and probably won't ever be translated.

The DVD/BD release of the tv series will have a director's cut version of ep1 which might restore all the cuts.
