Xbox has announced a multi-year agreement with AMD to co-engineer new silicon chips for the next-generation of Xbox consoles

The question is how many people will buy it and how they count to sell it through customer when you clearly become a third party editor?

They are not selling consoles right now AT ALL

Making another one won't change anything...

Nobody cares after they just went third-party

People will wait for every game to come to Playstation

How are u gonna beat Sony with using the same apus, why not go to nivdia this time, even if costs a little more. Looks like they are going with same strategy as last time with 2 systems, only this time they have no exclusive games, guess Phil convinced the ceos they will lose everything if they don't release new consoles as streaming is not ready yet.

This announcement so soon makes me think it's not a fully fledged Xbox console, but just more of those portable PCs, such as the ROG Ally.
The Steam Deck and SteamOS have become great places to game, and Microsoft can't afford to lose PC gaming to Linux.

Xbox will lead next gen with ps games on steam mode. Ps6 will have 7 exclusives it is a waste of money. Xbox will have 7 fps per year.

Xbox doesn't make sense from a market point of view, but its an absolute need for MS to have a store front in the console market.

Either way, it seems XBox is behind Play Station in terms of their pipeline for the Next Box.

Xbox Series X (2026)
Xbox Series P (portable)

I bet the handheld (if it exists) will be the Series S

in fact, it would be extremely smart of them if they'd make a handheld and simply make it a full replacement for the Series S.
full Series S compatibility, no asterisk or anything. just a Series S in handheld form.

with the cross gen period for next gen probably being even longer and more pronounced than the one we have seen with the PS4 and Xbox One, having a fully Series S compatible handheld would basically mean automatically getting third party support and of course it would mean thousands of already available games.

The Xbox Store is just as dead as the consoles: people that still use Xbox, use it for GamePass, nobody actually BUYS games

It better be something different than just an upgraded APU like going from last gen to this gen. My guess it'll be an ARM based console and a future ARM handheld since Microsoft made a deal with AMD to produce ARM chips that focused on graphics.

She also slid in there compatibility with your existing Xbox games library

I would if I could.

"Want a reprint of the latest and greatest new physical games? Fuck you PS5 gets them not Xbox. Now buy Gamepass instead."

"Want future physical disc games for Xbox? Fuck you PS5 gets them not Xbox. Now buy Gamepass instead."

Can't do another generation of this nonsense.

Reason I'm excited, breaking the traditional mold. It may not work out. It's boring just getting a new box every few/8 years.

Actually truly happy they are going to release their own version of hardware and allow third party to use there os (lite versions) for devices. I'd stay away from the first Rog handheld with this is as it seems this is a beta for the software so expect to be the beta product.

Only concern is if the Xbox 1st party console will be a mid level system and allow the third party to do bleeding edge. If it just comes out as a portable series x it would be a sin IMHO. I'm also hoping this AMD deal would power cloud servers and get us to 1440p/120 at least
