Xbox has announced a multi-year agreement with AMD to co-engineer new silicon chips for the next-generation of Xbox consoles

Why you want consoles to be like NBA games and NFL games 2k and Madden terrible I don't give a F if they fall flat on there face just keep pumping out hardware and games Because Sony goals suck A

That little segment 100% should have been in their show imo
Definitely! This would've changed the conversation. I thought the showcase was plain bad, I think I rated it 5/10. With some next gen hype things would've been different.

I don't know what to take away from this though. Except that Xbox is like a wrongly cut down aspen tree, the root was alive and new sprouts are popping up all over the place now.

But it's exciting to think about a next generation! And now I wonder how far away this is and if they've moved some upcoming big games to these new devices? Lots of big ones were missing on the showcase.

The next Xbox should come with an upgradable GPU that allows users to increase performance at will throughout the next generation. Mid gen refresh? No sir. We want a multi-gen refresh.

Xbox doesn't make sense from a market point of view, but its an absolute need for MS to have a store front in the console market.

Either way, it seems XBox is behind Play Station in terms of their pipeline for the Next Box.
Absolutely wrong, Sony literally just released the PS5 Pro model. Late 2027 earliest for PS6. This is likely to release late 2026, given what HeisenbergFX4 has been saying.

Didn't leaks from here have stated were is the PS6 supposed to be in terms of its production schedule? Also MLiSD said (1-2 years ago I think) that Xbox's was in talks with Intel. so the AMD deal is a delayed one

This is a 3DO not an xbox
Microsoft take my strong advice remember to always think twice, do think twice guys

Actually truly happy they are going to release their own version of hardware and allow third party to use there os (lite versions) for devices. I'd stay away from the first Rog handheld with this is as it seems this is a beta for the software so expect to be the beta product.
I buy everything, I'll be there for the Ally no doubt, excited to see how the new multi launcher UI works.

preemptive bomba.
good luck with finding enough idiots to trust you with another hw gen lol
watch this being us-market only.

For the longest while i was strongly considering not bothering with getting any future Xbox hardware even though i have bought the Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One and the Series X.

Recently i got myself my first Gaming PC (9800X3D with a 5070TI) and with MS releasing their games on PC/PS and with this news i don't see any reason why i need to continue buy any Xbox hardware.

I have always liked being a multiple console owner so from now on it will just be PC/PS and Switch for me.
Still this might be good for anyone who doesn't own a Gaming PC and i do hope this plan works out for MS as competition is needed for Nintendo/Sony.

The only way they could get me is if they included a drive that I could put my og xbox and 360 disc's in and play natively. One box to play every gen would rule.

They pretty much confirmed they will make a Windows PC called Xbox. Games not tied to a single storefront, multi devices.
Basically not a console in a traditional sense as everyone expected.

Hmm, if they're announcing the partnership now, next year seems a little too optimistic, unless they've been working on it behind the scenes for an unannounced while.
If you remember Sarah mentioned next gen hardware in 2024. I'm guessing this has been a thing for a good while and this is just official confirmation with a possible reveal late this year.

Yeah, def seems too early. They need to beta test the new handheld OS and refine it based on feedback. I'm guessing that will be used on all their future AMD devices.

Their future plans are starting to come together and backwards compatibility is definitely coming to PC, so I'm happy I won't lose my games forever. Interesting times.

Consoles like several future generations, or like several models like the Series X/S?
They are not done with multiple skus imo
Yeah, I never saw then getting out of the hardware business at least not anytime soon.

I hope they don't do the low tier and standard console thing again...

I would love to see a high end tier from Xbox instead though. Make the S the standard console (standard "entry cost" meant to compete with PS6) and the X a device more like the Xbox One X/PS4 Pro/PS5 Pro that is expensive and meant as a device for the most hardcore.

Is it just me, or this sounds suspiciously like another Windows Based console? A steam machine like device with xbox branding.
I think that is looking too far into it honestly.

Ugh AMD…Makes sense but still ugh
Choosing Nvidia would result in
  • Higher cost and higher costs for Microsoft will only make their way to you with "interest" added.
  • Break backwards compatibility similar to how PlayStation can't break away from this fucking retarded touchpad/light "bar" because it would break BC

Very curious to see if it runs the current Xbox library or just "play anywhere" games. If it plays all the current Xbox and back compat games, I may be interested. Depending on price and what the ps6 ends up being. Currently, they both aren't struggling in my opinion.

This really comes down to how they can make a more gaming focused version of windows to something that more rivals steam while not having to jump through the hoops of installing non-steam stuff all while easily accessing your Xbox games is the dream. Can't wait to hear more on the software front how they evolve this.

Let me carry over my entire library I have right now on my Series X dating back to Xbox 1 and I'm good. Can't wait 😘

Honestly, next-gen leap for me is something that doesn't even need to be significantly more powerful than Series X. Like, give us something smaller, lightweight, quieter, that is 2-3x times more powerful than Series X, but far more efficient, and if it's based on Windows, that's fine. The next-gen leap for me with this would be finally having full integration between console and PC, and no more seperate versions/ storefronts. Game Pass? Fine, but just one single, unified Game Pass. Everything possible is Play Anywhere. Lost Odyssey that I can seamlessly switch back and forth between my next-gen Xbox console and my ROG Xbox Ally with cloud save? Uh, Fuck Yeah. Give it to me!

But it's all gotta work. I'm sold on the premise, I love the promise of things to come, but it's got to actually work as well as they say it will.

I'm still pissed off that my Xbox PC copy of Stardew Valley doesn't work with my Xbox console copy, despite being "Play Anywhere". That fucking sucked, finding out you own an entitlement to copies on both, but the versions are completely separate, with no save compatibility. Not really meeting the definition in my head of what "Play Anywhere" should be.

Yeah, I think Xbox will have about a one-year head start. Just like with the Xbox 360 back in the day.
nope they won't have shit, unlike 360 they are not in a position to headstart any gen.

all their studios will have ps5 as their lead platform all the way into 2030, let alone keep supporting series-potato.
