So I've been playing around with my new XB1 S for a bit. It's pretty cool.
Things I like
- It's sexy
- It's quiet
- It'll have Scalebound on it next year
- BC works extremely well based on what I've played
- Controller seems to be an overall improvement over the 360 S model (edit: playing Perfect Dark, make that a huge improvement, goodbye continent-sized dead zones)
Things I don't like
- The icon, menu and button usage is ridiculously cluttered and unintuitive even by MS standards
- Mandatory, always-on viewer notification in the lower middle of the screen during full-screen streaming - this really, really sucks. It's prominent as fuck and hard to ignore. Not great for plasma TVs either, I'd imagine
- Some 360 BC games have carried over with my account, which is great, but some of them are also shared by Rare Replay, and it looks like the console insists on installing/downloading updates for both versions of the same titles, which seems silly
- There's a footballer on the box
Still happy with my purchase, especially for the price.
