I know nothing about the game. How does healing work without this skill?

From what I've played so far, certain skills in other classes have healing effects. They're all self heals from what I've had access to though. I think you need to make sure your AI partners have a way to heal themselves. Equip the right skills for the task.

Thing is, if you win a fight/battle, you regen all your hp in a matter of seconds. So you really don't need healing if you can kill whatever you're fighting quickly enough.

I worded my post weird.
One class gets a healing spell.
Without the healing spell you heal basically by doing certain actions that your character and your other members shout during combat. If you fullfill these commands your whole party gets healed a little bit each time

Commands for example can be triggered by starting the battle with an art, or simply by having less than 30%hp

I was wondering about that. In the menus there's a huge list of every phrase your characters can call out and what bonuses they grant. It's pretty robust.

Hm so this sucks I stayed up to make my character as thats all I really wanted to do.

One thing I did notice is that when I shut off the WiiU the background D/L / Update light came on still nothing, so it was frustrating.

its little things like this that add up and make me not want to buy stuff from NOA. Yeah in the immediate future its minor, but they all add up over time.

The bundle has the data packs afaik. But in case it hasn't, it's located on the Xenoblade Chronicles X page on the e-shop. It's free so no need to purchase.
