It would be pretty strange for it not to, but I guess Microsoft isn't exactly hitting it out of the park these days so you never know.

So are they going to keep their underpowered console in the graphics race by manipulating the software side of things? Gross, if so.

Does this mean dx 12 will not be a huge improvement over previous version?

If it's a revision aimed at overhead reduction it may not have a new feature set requirement. And you don't necessarily have to have a feature compliant gpu to use a later version of DX as the driver anyway.

Clearly DirectX12 will somehow unlock the dGPU on the stacked die of the Xbox One to make it 10x faster than the PS4. Good find...

I am now convinced Halo 2 Anniversary or some new game MS has in store will be used to showcase DirectX 12.

Mark my words.

I would think you already have low level hardware access on One (which is what DX12 seems to be focused on), but developing a game targeting DX12 might make porting between PC and One easier, so I guess that's a good thing.

Well it also supports Snapdragon so I'm assuming it's built to run on everything with different optimizations for each.

Or couldn't it just be that the Xbox One was originally designed for DirectX 12 in the first place, but since it wasn't finalized, they released it with DX11?

Genuine question here.

Well, yes, but it still wouldn't need some of the same optimizations as other platforms because for example Windows isn't doing crazy things with CPU threading like it does on PC, which is one of the major changes they teased.
