I'm not saying that it would. There's a certain otaku audience that really likes analyzing how things work, but the reason why I think the mechanics would interfere here is because of what kind of story is trying to be told. The show is structuring itself in such a way that that the way the game is played isn't as important as the win/loss record of the characters and what it means for their wishes. The axe hanging over their head is of greater importance than whatever method is cutting that axe. It could be a flame, it could be sabotage, but what's important is that it's cut.
And I wasn't engaging you, but more engaging Woof (starting from the "children's card game" thing and going from there), who I've come to realize is my polar opposite in... mostly everything. I do appreciate the conversation, though.
I can accept that this is the sort of thing where it's less bothersome if you have access to the TCG and convenient guides to its rules. It's not a gaijin-friendly show, that's for sure.
And yeah, Yu-Gi-Oh! is an example where the TCG came into existence due to the manga's popularity rather than the other way around. It was still probably shrewd of Takahashi to attach the most "realistic" (and, therefore, marketable) fictional game in the story to the recurring antagonist so that it got the most exposure. The rudimentary version of Duel Monsters is soooooo bad, though. It's all of the godmodding of Duelist Kingdom without any of the camp :lol

It is possible that the whole "dont explain any of the rules!" is intentional. The show is interesting enough to watch on its own. But not knowing the rules is maddening. And what is the best way to figure out the rules? Well go look them up. And that would get you looking at the product ideally.
Interestingly, there are posts online floating around that explain (mechanically) is happening during each battle, including pointing out when the show skips over turns and such.

I'm pretty sure I'm being silently judged. And for an anime as well like as this, that is quite something.
Unless you are Fate/Zero, not really. More than anything I find it surprising that even of what's modern Fate/Zero would stand out as something to be held up among classic work within the medium.

Well thats true in terms of anime but its only fair then to find an equivalent term in English that doesnt strictly imply porn or else just leave it as Hentai as they did.
I bet they have some stock from FYE too. You can find a ton of cheap anime volumes at FYE, just not full series unless its brand new boxsets.

Yes I enjoy Urobuchi. And Psycho-Pass. I find myself enjoying shows based on my tastes and not because the AnimeGAF hate-watch crew tells me I should like it. If we're getting confessions out of the way I also enjoy Attack on Titan. Pretty sure I've made that clear here.

Either ways moving on who was it that recommended Nozaki-kun? Dresden right? I've caught up with it. Definitely looking forward to the anime. While not 'laugh out loud' hilarious as Ore Monogatari, it definitely has a great cast of characters.
Have you seen From The New World? You really should watch it.

Yes I have. It was fantastic. There were points near the end I personally had lost interest and started to skip around episodes, but it was like the last 1-2 episodes. I'm still sad
they got rid of my two favorite characters

Yeah it was pretty incredible overall. Kind of inconsistent with a few details but what story isnt? The atmosphere of foreboding throughout was unmatched. It was so thoroughly creepy from beginning to end. My friend is now finding this out but we had to stop at episode 9

Yeah that's my favorite character lol. And his little dog too. Their ending was so sad.
It's not worth it to pay much attention to stuff like that. Especially when it comes from a source you (may?) consider untrustworthy.
I guess Psycho-Pass butchered Gen Urobuchi's reputation so badly that it retroactively made Fate/Zero not good.

Except for the Comedy parts, which were okay, Clannad really wasn't that good. Clannad After Story was heartbreaking though.
