Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

Unless these are bumped to HD resolutions I will not be buying a WiiU.

If they are bumped to HD resolutions then I will buy a WiiU today.

Even though it launches through the Wii U menu, I imagine it's still booting into the Wii side to actually play the games, even if it's all behind the scenes. I wouldn't count on anymore up-ressing than what Wii games already get.

Finally! Not that I doubted that the harddrive I bought for the Wii U was a good idea, but now its officially the best thing I got for Christmas.

But if I want to play the disc-based version of these, I still have to load them through the Wii menu?

Will the GamPad controller work for the disc-based versions?

That's cool, but I don't think I can go back to using the Wii mote (which is the only way you can control SMG2).

Oh fuck that is some insane pricing (in the good way for once!). Will likely buy everything if they do this half off thing with all releases.

Just hope Nintendo put Disaster Day of Crisis on there and make it available in the US this time to make up for fucking it's physical release up so badly.

Bonus points for fucking over the toolboxes on various sales sites charging stupid prices for second hand copies of MP Trilogy too :D

Got a brand new wii u MK edition on ebay last night. Sure it will but fingers crossed it comes within the week so I can get SMG2 at half price!

Even more excited to get it now.

Perfect. And half off at least the 1st 3 introductory ones? Sign me up. I don't think there's a res boost but 480p should look good on the gamepad which I'll be mostly using anyway. I wonder if you can use the touch screen/second analog for Galaxy's star bits? US stream didn't have a price but if it matches Euro it should be $19.99 without the sale.

Any word on Miiverse? Probably not but thought I'd ask in case it was in a different stream.

Are they ports or did Nintendo find a way to package an ISO in a way that boots straight into the Wii mode from the Wii U menu (like the 3DS ambassador GBA games)? Since they are only $20, I suppose it's the latter (since Wind Waker, which is a port, is $40).

At least it would be a nice way to leverage the Wii library on the eShop, even if they are still 480p. People have been asking for Nintendo to do this with DS games on the 3DS eShop for years.

If they can do this with the Wii Games, maybe they can do the same thing with GameCube games. I mean Devolution and Nintendon't already do, so maybe Nintendo could do the whole boot into Wii Mode through Wii U menu. :)

Wish they were HD, but this is absolutely worth it for Metroid Prime Trilogy. Even the Gamestop reprints are still $50 in the US. Would love to get Xenoblade on this as well.

Never got the Metroid Trilogy (have all 3, but I'd like to replay the first 2 with the wii remote), for 9,99€ it's a no brainer.

Since they are giving you gamepad controls with these, I imagine it's not just a boot to Wii mode kinda thing... but we'll have to see.

- Games compatible with the Wii Classic Controller Pro cane be used with Wii U Gamepad

...this could be a megaton for me.

Hated the Wii-mote controls in Prime 3. I've replayed Prime 1 so much I lost track and replayed Prime 2 at least 4 or 5 times, but couldn't replay Prime 3 a single time. I mean, the fact that it's the weakest of the 3 didn't help, but it still had some cool moments that I wanted to replay. I tried to do so and made it to the first Leviathan seed boss (the one with the big red targets or something) and just quit. Couldn't take the annoying controls annoy more. The waggle roll Wii-mote controls in DKC Returns sucked too.

Might have to rebuy these for Gamepad playability. Ya got me, Nintendo.
