Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

Maybe its just me but I hated Wii mote controls for metroid prime trilogy, honestly I struggled playing metroid prime 1 and got stuck on the hives/bee mini boss in the beginning 0_o

I'd kill for Wii u pro controller support :(
That's actually a moment that's significantly worse with Wii controls. A shame it's right at the start, but the rest of the whole series is so much better.

Holy shit, £9 for Metroid Prime Trilogy is insane. If Kirby is that price upon release I'm getting it. Never seen it before £30.

I was hoping for more wind waker HD treatments.

Curious, anyone know the LTD sales of WWHD? Can't be too high given Wii U's install base, but I wonder if it sold well enough for them to do more things like that in the future? I'd love more HD remasters too but if it's just not viable from a business standpoint then it's not going to happen. Today's announcement makes it seem like maybe we won't be seeing any more HD Remasters, but here's hoping I'm wrong.

So, all wii games I currently own, or just DLC ones?

So if I buy a WiiU and MP:Trilogy I can't play it at all unless I buy an expensive wiimote (never owned a Wii)?

Yeah fuck that noise.

I would pay 60 bux for a 1080p/60FPS Gamepad supported Metroid. Mario Galaxy pack too. You hear me Nintendo.

Wait wait.. you are willing to spend MORE money on the game to get a remake, but call the controller expensive even though that bundle would be cheaper?

I loved the GameCube controls, did the Wii version of Prime 1 and 2 allow for standard controls or were motion controls the only way to play?...

To get people to buy the New 3ds.
Not hard to figure out.
Except it's a niche game that won't sell handhelds, it's audience is on consoles and its successor is on the Wii U.

Cool, I can sell my hard copy of MPT and get the digital version. Ta Nintendo!
Definitely grab Sin and Punishment 2 when that pops up as well. Hope it gets a launch discount too.

I have no interest in using a Wiimote ever again. Plus he mentioned it being an HD version. I'm in the same boat.

So I just checked my Wii boxes to see which ones are actually classic controller compatible. Turns out the only Wii game that does that I would want to play is Sonic Colours. Oh well.

You can get a refurbished (same as new in my eyes) wiimote from nintendo for $15. Or a wiimote plus nunchuck combo for $25.

And five of the best nintendo games ever made for $30 bucks. (actually five)

In terms of the videogaming hobby you are in, I would not call that expensive at all.

Except it's a niche game that won't sell handhelds, it's audience is on condors and its successor is on the Wii U.

In North America, yes. You have to remember, though, that Nintendo's main operation is in Japan, where consoles are becoming a niche product and JRPGs are huge.

Even still... it is still cheaper. I'm arguing more about complaining about the controller being too expensive...

and honestly feel like Prime 3 would suffer from having to be on a controller. First two are fine since were on Gamecube so

If one in every eight Wii U owners bought Metroid Prime Trilogy, Nintendo would undoubtedly be looking at proposals for a new Metroid.

I have the Trilogy, and have played through it 3 times, and each individual game several times, and yet I'm still considering buying it on the e-Shop (and probably never playing it) just to throw my support behind the franchise.

New Wii U's don't come with Wii Remotes?

I have this Black Wii Remote Plus in my house I don't remember ever buying and just assumed it came with my Wii U (the Wind Waker Edition). It didn't?

I can't even imagine some of the puzzles in Prime 3 even being possible on sticks. The welding stuff requires some very fine precision.

It's unfathomable to me that people are complaining about Metroid Prime's wiimote controls. Admittedly Prime 1 is basically the only Wii game I have yet to play but controlling Samus with the wiimote worked perfectly from what I recall. It was quite immersive as well.
Also im pretty sure that with the way the controls were setup on GameCube most people these days would absolutely hate using a regular controller (hold down the left trigger to aim vertically, correct?)

Looks like I'll play Metroïd Prime a third time. Is this one compatible with off TV?

It requires the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, so no.

Edit: Well I suppose technically it does, in that it'll display through the GamePad screen, but the buttons on the GamePad won't work. It'll be no different to playing the disc version in Wii mode in that respect.

Limited time. It'll go up to $20 after the launch discount.

Daaamn i really almost cant believe it!!!

$10!

I mean, they charge EIGHT dollars for a Snes game!

like BRAWL BROTHERS!

Of course im impressed that they´re asking only $10 for Metroid Prime Trilogy

So Nintendont can support pro controllers but not the gamepad? Why is that?

Nintendont can support everything that uses Bluetooth to communicate, or USB. GamePad uses proprietary 5GHz Wi-Fi Direct connection, so they can't add support for it. Hopefully Nintendo's shenanigans for making their Wii re-releases work with the GamePad will help Nintendont developers to add GamePad support.

Fuck everything. I just got the Trilogy on disk. Can't justify buying it again when it probably won't even fit on my Wii U. But at the same time, I kind of want to buy it just so I can show Nintendo Other M sold like shit because it was a shit game, not because it was a Metroid game and that good Metroid games can and will make money.

So I'm torn.

Any words about SMG2 download size?
Says it requires 1,628.8 MB to download.

Really can't wait to finally get Punch-Out after all the Little Mac amiibo talk. Kept seeing it for around $30 so for $10 & digital will be great. Been so long since I rented it. Though remind me, is it possible to use the Classic Controller on it? Not that I don't mind using the Wiimote sideways.

Might nab MP Trilogy since I know it costs around $50 for a retail version.

It's really kind of sad that you can play DKCR with a classic controller on any Wii (including the Wii mode of Wii U) with a simple Ocarina cheat but you won't be able to play the eShop version sans waggle.

That's the biggest thing for me about this announcement. Please god let them find a way to do that.

Wiimote sideways and motion controls are the only means of playing. Odd that none of the initial lineup allows for GamePad controls. My copy of Punch-Out was stolen years ago, so I'll pick this up for $10 without a second thought.

So Nintendont can support pro controllers but not the gamepad? Why is that?

No idea. There's something weird going on if Nintendont can support pro and not gamepad, and Wii VC titles can support Gamepad but not Wii U Pro...

Can't play Resi 4 from the comfort of my bed yet though ;(

So, all wii games I currently own, or just DLC ones?

We don't know for sure at the moment. Patching in gamepad support for all Wii games would require a system update of which Nintendo hasn't said anything about. If the feature is only for Virtual Console Wii games, then we won't be certain until Pandora's Tower or Sin & Punishment are released, since those two are the only two (in the West) that were compatible with the CCP.

But here's an idea: what if Nintendo is planning to make all Wii games compatible with the Wii U Gamepad via a system update that will be out some time between today and whenever those two CCP-compatible games are released? That would explain why they announced this feature today, but none of the games with announced release dates are compatible with it.
