Fantastic Four Trailer # 1

That was really well done. This looks far more interesting than other super hero movies this year. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a contender for best block buster this year considering the talent behind it.

Fanty's prettier.
So do you want to put the foot down and define grim dark for us all then?
If I had to, I'd define it thusly:
A shadowy (but not filthy) portrayal that pantomimes realism in a fantastical manner.

Grimdark.

Good trailer, but I can't help but think of this thing as an anachronism. A super hero movie that looks like it doesn't want to be one. They don't make those anymore, and I'm kind of glad they don't.

This is par for the course with Fox's movies. It sorta worked in X-Men, which is, I guess, why they've taken it so far.

It is sorta weird that they're continuing it, even after Marvel's success with the opposite.

Trailer did absolutely nothing and The Thing CG was hilariously bad.

That being said i will withhold final judgement till i see the movie because trailer CG isn't always final and shitty trailers don't make a film shitty. The cynical part of me wants the film to flop so bad they just give up and the rights somehow end up back at marvel but the kid inside me, the huge comic fan inside me wants it to succeed and be amazing because i love the Fantastic Four. I also have nothing against casting younger people or adapting more from the ultimate universe because i find that universe much more interesting, especially if it's between that or pissing on great storylines and changing core things like in Days of Future Past (loved the movie but it should of been Prydes time to shine)

There are so many comic book movies coming out, fatigue is going to set in soon. It looks like this movie is at least doing something different, colour me interested.

2016 better shake things up or the fatigue will hit everyone. I'm already expecting the second trailers to show more.

Low bar, but even the first trailer for that looks more "Fantastic" than this.

In its defence, the old FF films had hokey feel to them, light hearted and slightly campy ala Raimi's Spiderman. I don't think the market reacts well to those anymore. Its all about edge now

The Iron Man films and Cap 2, as well as Guardians, all looked better, but that's based strictly on a teaser.

Honestly wish it was more in tone with X-Men, but going from that teaser it's even darker than that.
Well it's from the director of Chronicle. I have the feeling that this might work. GOTG already fill the funny-space slot, I think a "dark" FF could work (Ben's story always seemed super tragic for me)

Yeah. Cinematography seems to be very nice.

Well its not the mess I was expecting, but it didn't really leave me excited either. I'll probably see it either way unless it reviews terribly.

It's not 2008 anymore, people enjoy light hearted action movies.

I'm conflating edge with a somber tone but still.

"From the studio that brought you Days of Future Past"

Well gotta latch onto something, no matter how tenuous the link might be I guess.

It looked like a bog standard grim-dark trailer though.

It will be a very visually appealing movie, for sure. Some great cinematography. I think going dark with FF is a mistake, but I do think Trank is great. I'm torn. It's just a teaser, though, so I'll wait and see.

Was that the Broadchurch theme music? :lol

Not a whole to say about the teaser, other than it looks nice. I didn't like Chronicle at all, but hopefully that was more because of the found footage gimmick (and Dane DeHaan's constant whining) than Trank's skill as a director.

Please don't tell me the movie is actually being spelled out as Fant4stic.

I'd save it for leftovers for now, my biggest complaint was that this movie didn't seem like the Fantastic Four due to how dark it was.

I'll return to the fridge if this movie gets good reviews. Hopefully the crow you prepared is still good by then.
