Just noticed this bit in the synopsis:

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

So much for that new and different twist!

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
Cool easter egg

Is that Latveria? I mean, yes, I know that in the real world that is a real place and not Latveria. But in all of these maps on the walls, there's a red dot somewhere in Eastern Europe. Could that be Doom's kingdom?

Looks like it. You see that red lettering at the bottom left? That says "23.21.190.125," and if you plug that in to your Internet browser, you get a Wikia entry for Latveria (try refreshing or viewing it with different browsers to get different results; it seems to randomly redirect to a number of different results).

Probably a safe bet that she's trying to track the source of a hack? It would make sense with both the map and what looks to be an IP address. That would all track with the idea of Doom as a "hacker," and still give him Latveria as a base of (virtual) operations.

Fanty's prettier.

If I had to, I'd define it thusly:
A shadowy (but not filthy) portrayal that pantomimes realism in a fantastical manner.

Grimdark.

See also: Warhammer 40k.

This is par for the course with Fox's movies. It sorta worked in X-Men, which is, I guess, why they've taken it so far.

It is sorta weird that they're continuing it, even after Marvel's success with the opposite.

Comparing this with WH40k is a joke. WH40k is so pessimistic and gloomy, with tyranid hordes swarming, chaos driving people insane, a dying god emperor that controls all transportation...

I feel grimdark is a horrible mislabel. This is more grounded or low fantasy. Nothing about this movie or other movies I've seen labeled with grimdark have a gloomy outset or death everywhere. I do feel that these movies are dramatic, they aim to tie emotions to the characters, they want events to have weight, they want to build tension. I feel like grimdark is just a catch all term for comic book movies that aren't marvel and it usually has a negative connotation.

Marvel films are good at what they do, I don't feel the need for everything to emulate and then saturate the market with derivatives, probably causing a comic book movie crash.

Nice cast, but I don't understand why these actors would want to associate themselves with this movie =[

I mean, Teller and Jordan were in That Awkward Moment and Jamie Bell was in Jumper. Actors gotta work and Trank is maybe more of a solid bet than either of those other movies.

Well they're hardly going to attack Earth

Just tired of people going on and on about Trank doing something new and different for the genre and breaking the mold with this when the plot structure actually is going to be the same thing.

Not that the formula bothers me of course :p

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
I wasn't expecting much, but it's pretty funny how that trailer was better than both Avengers 2 and the Ant-Man trailers.

I love seeing the inability for internet haters to eat crow on it.

strawman? no one is saying this was a worse trailer than Ant-Man. i wouldn't be surprised if this movie is better than Ant-Man.

the Avengers 2 trailer is crazy good, though.

We're still dealing with superheroes. It's how those characters are interpreted and the lens through which we view them being what makes it refreshing.

You know interracial parents don't make white blonde kids and black kids right? lol.

Contacts and hair dye on a light enough bi-racial woman will though. Even the lighter hair and blue eyes aren't uncommon msturally in bi-racial people.

Mariah Carey. Rashida Jones and Blake Griffin could all pass as looking naturally blond haired and blue eyed with a bottle of hair dye and some contacts, for example

Yeah. I'm not sure who exactly would be expecting a blockbuster to have anything other than good guys beats bad guy.

Even then, I still don't think this sounds any different of an interpretation from, say, early 2000s superhero movies or even Man of Steel. Hell, even though the tone here looks noticeably darker and less campy, I don't think it really sounds all that different from how the original '05 movie handled the FF dynamic either.

Not to keep harping on this point, but what would've been a new and different interpretation in this case, one that breaks from genre conventions, actually would've been sticking closer to the source material and opting for the wilder, cosmic family adventure angle of the comics.

Well, that's a teaser.

Glad to see something. Visually, it looked fine / good. Way too early to declare the movie saved, though.

The trailer was fine. Not amazing but decent. I've tried to stay as neutral as I could regarding this film but I'm more positive then I was after this and curious to what future trailers will show. The very fact that they're dealing with the Negative Zone is a plus for me. Always found the idea of that interesting.

Irritates me to no end they can still use the Marvel logo. Because people will just assume this is related to The Avengers and go pay money for it.

Why wouldn't they? They are Marvel films at the end of the day, even if they're not MCU films specifically. Hell, Feige gets a production credit.

Not sure about the last two, but Mariah Carey is only a quarter black, it's near impossible genetically for Sue and Johnny to be 100% brother and sister and look the way they do.

This trailer was better than Ant-Man? Did we watch the same thing? Anyways not completely terrible, I'll wait for another trailer and give it a chance

Then they would've just been saving another planet, or a space station, or a sun or something.

The impression this teaser leaves on me is that these guys are a team of explorers more than superheroes, which is pretty cool to me.
