What will be February's biggest flop?

i wish there was a report button
its tiresome read this shit all the time

It stoped being funny a long time ago. Now its just lazy.

It wasn't meant to be funny. Sorry to have an opinion on cutscene and QTE flooded games where gameplay is presented as a segue to the story rather than the other way around.

edit: Go to a gameplay video of the Order and click your mouse to random spots 20 times and tell me how many times it's actual gameplay. I got 5 out of 20.

Sales? I can see Evolve doing below publisher expectations.

Critically? Order 1886

Tbh, there's not a lot to choose from this month.

I'm going to say Evolve. I think that game will have a small, dedicated audience, but I don't think it'll set the world on fire like I'm sure 2K wants it to.

You do know that there have actually been barely any QTE's in both full demo's of this game we have been presented with? You do also realise that just because a game is story focused, or has lots of cut scenes, it doesn't automatically mean it is completely devoid of gameplay?

8/10 for a new I.P is barely a flop, I'd be happy with it.

New IP is irrelevant when the game discussed is a big budget flashy as shit third person cinematic cover shooter.

New IP used to denote a certain risk factor. If you mitigate that risk factor by being safe as fuck (like destiny, or watchdogs) the game is going to sell, new IP or no.

I don't mean to discredit what the game is doing and the fact that people like it, but I personally don't like the game's direction. The gameplay looks fine, but it also looks like there isn't 5 minutes without an "event" taking place. I don't like playing games that lose me every few minutes and then expect me to be back in the game when it gives me control again. I just see it as bad pacing.

Have you played the game?

I'd have to agree with The Order.

At least consumer wise. I feel this title will manage to be well received among professional journalists and marketed heavily to achieve financial success.

It's just everything that I've seen has been quite the case of style over substance. For myself, at least, i don't see it as very interesting.

Guess we'll find out.

I dunno, based on how these type Kirby games sell, I bet it will do just fine sales-wise (though not in GAF's eyes).

The answer to both commercially and critically is, to me, The Order: 1886. I want it to be good, but I don't think it will be.

These are the pre-orders for The Order at one store

So, it may not do well among critics, but it sure as hell isn't going to flop in terms of sales.

I might actually add to that. Game looks sick not to mention I've been dying for some third person action as of late.

Jesus Christ.
Can The Order be mentioned in a thread without constant banter and shit-flinging?

On topic: I dunno.
I think DOA5 is going to come out to literally no fanfare.

Yup, going with Kirby. Wouldn't have known it came out this month if it wasn't for this thread.

Sounds about right for Kirby games and they keep getting made.

Return to Dreamland must have sold like shit as a very late Wii game, and it went OOP quickly. The Kirby Dream Collection similarly vanished quickly.

These may not sell a bunch, but Nintendo prints a small batch and must be fine with sales.

The order in terms of making any money back and critically. Kirby for Wii U, because Wii U units wise.

Evolve will flop sales-wise. Kinda crazy that I have more people on my friendslist playing Dying Light than Evolve. The Order will do the best in sales. Revelations 2 will probably be the biggest flop critically.

Can someone explain me why Order is being hated so much for being ''cinematic'' game when at the same time Uncharted 4 is one of the most waited games of the year? Is it really different people that are hating Order and waiting Uncharted? I mean Order could be crap cinematic game but it could also be great cinematic game like Gears of War or Uncharted. The hate it has gotten before release is really baffling to me.

Revelations 2 or The Order.

I seriously hope the Order doesn't flop because so many people are excited for it but the moronic PR doesn't give me much hope :/

"Moronic PR" - you mean not showing the entire game before release, or sticking to their creative vision from design to delivery. Yea.

I don't see The Order faltering. I would be surprised if it's a 9+ game given that it's "just another shooter" (eyeroll). Easy 8+. If Wolfenstein can get an 81 Metacritic, The Order should have no problem.

Folks have had a hard on for The Order since day one. Whether they didn't agree with the aspect ratio or FPS choice, or - after months from it's reveal - demanded to see more, more, MOAR from the game and not getting it - all have contributed to a pretty hostile environment here on NG. If The Order reviews well, the naysayers will simply say "Well, victory in spite of themselves. Next time give me 60FPS and 1080P." If it does flop, it'll be "See. Moronic PR!"

Gears of war might have had cinematic themes, but by cinematic people tend to mean extremely linear, very little gameplay or player agency and a ton of cutscenes.

I don't think Gears of War qualifies, not sure about Uncharted, but the Order certainly seems to fit the bill, with entire chapters of the game being nothing but cutscenes.

I get your point, but I wouldn't don't consider Gears of War cinematic. I personally think Sony and RAD have done a horrible job showing off the game. I think it just soared most people.

Oh give me a break, Wolfenstein featured some great gameplay mechanics, you haven't played the order, so I'm not sure why you are making such a comparison.

Just another reason you take gaf with a grain of salt when it comes to controversy.

Example : watchdogs / destiny sales.

Yeah I don't see the game flopping i terms of sales. It's super heavily marketed, first party Sony exclusives during a dry spell of games.

It's going to print money.

Not sure if that's a good thing though.

Is this true? Where have you seen/played this to know this (whole chapters)?

Check out the last couple of pages of the spoilers thread. But, obvisouly... watch out for spoilers if you plan on picking up the game.

Basically someone watched (And recorded) a stream of (content/length spoilers)

A guy going from chapter 5 to chapter 9 in an hour (he says playing like "Trash") - out of I believe 24 chapters? Don't quote me on that, but it's somehting liek that. And 2 of those chapters were pure cutscenes.

Edit: screwed up the spoiler tag, sorry!

Of course I haven't (seriously what a tired argument people use). What exactly did Wolfenstein do that was fresh or new to the genre? Nothing. That doesn't mean it wasn't a good FPS.
