Final Fantasy XV Platinum Demo PS4 vs Xbox One Frame Rate Test.

Why can't they achieve a stable 30fps? Is the PS4 really that weak that they can't get it to run their vision smoothly.

It makes me wonder what kind of shit show was going on when it was a PS3 game.

They'll likely have it sorted out.

Game isn't out for another 7 months, plenty of work yet to be done.

Whither art thou Resolution, AA and AF?

That looks really rough. The fact that one can see such a large prevalence of of Aliasing from a youtube video doesn't bode well for the IQ in this game.

Maybe I'm blind but the frame rate didn't seem so bad for me, sure there were dips but nothing worth noting.
Look at the frame pacing in the frametime graph.

Patches are a thing and games these days pretty much are being worked on right up until release. You can bet your ass ND is still doing shit to optimize the hell out of UC4
Let's see if the Day One patch notes mention "Performance Improvements" first. I personally don't think they are, or at least not at a level as major as Evil Within.

Played the demo on PS4 last night, really left a bad impression. Absolutely terrible framerate.

Hopefully optimization improves it greatly by release.

I think the demo already uses Umbra. If you go to the license in the main manu you can see the Umbra logo. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure it was there.

I did notice the framerate being really bad at the end of the demo when you fought that giant monster, hopefully the full game has atleast a steady 30 frames.

And that's just with one character and one enemy. Imagine when you'll get 3 other characters doing there stuff and more enemies. Hell of a crunch time before the FF XV team.

lol framerate is shit for just one enemy and character on screen. No amount of optimization is going make a situation where you are in a full party battling huge monsters run smoothly.

What else are the day one patches going to mention? This game doesn't have MP. So no doubt they've be fixing glitches and bugs plus ironing out technical things before release.

Good think this game is turn-based with all the framerate issues it seems to have, because...oh...shit...

they'll have that all worked out by launch. God I hope they have it all worked out by launch.

Played on PS4, surprised the FPS is almost always 29/30, when playing it felt lower than that.

Bad frame pacing. Look at the frametime distribution graph, some frames persist too long and some don't persist long enough.

It averages up to 30, but the uneven frame delivery feels bad.

Look at the frame pacing in the frametime graph.

Not even necessary to look at the graph. The counter jumping to 31 often can tell you the frame pacing is fucked

Hold on. Uncharted 4 has MP. That's the game I was talking about. What game are you talking about?

This was just a small area, now imagine driving around that huge open world.
Wow your comments are becoming increasingly desperate. Man chill out, remember how you used to get when people called out MGSV? The game is still in active development and will be for the next 5-6 months. Even longer with patches to increase performance. Something which CAN and probably will be done.

Pretty much matches what I said in the thread that the frame rate is generally 30 fps and the issue is with frame pacing. Basically same as Bloodborne.

Frame rate is generally 30 fps but with an input lag and frame pacing issues. That's what I observed. DF video will confirm it.

If people can play BB, I see no reason why there were so many hyperbole comments regarding the frame rate in the demo thread including some that just imagined the game was running at 20 fps the entire first area :P

Yea that looks about right for the framerate counter,I could feel the framerate drop seeming all the damn time.
It took me out of the game even though the art looks great and has amazing music the framerate was so distracing.

I have no hope that this will be fixed before the game comes out so I hope we can get a PC ver one day since I think the game may be amazing if it ran well.

The thing is this demo isn't even part of the main game, maybe they didn't spent that much time on it, let's hope the actual game will look and run a lot better.

The "game" is done. They are literally spending the next 5-6 months optimizing performance.

That being said.. holy shit at that performance on both consoles. I feel like releasing this demo was a misstep.

If the demo isn't indicative of how the game will look and perform, why release it?
What? It's a tech demo meant to show of the games technology. Things like TOD system, lighting and the new LOD shadowing system etc. Final resolution and optimisations to frame rate are done until the game has gone gold, sometimes longer if there's a patch after release, so a demo 6 months before release wouldn't at all be indicative.

Ugh... I don't want to buy games with sub 1080p resolution. Looks like ass on my tv. Gonna wait for the PC version.

Compare the visuals in this demo to the visuals in the story/environments/gameplay trailer and there is definitely a difference.

I can play Bloodborne but to me FF XV framerate looked weird in PS4.

Better yet, compare the visuals from Duscae, Platinum Demo and the trailers.

Definitely a huge improvement over Duscae and we are getting close to the trailer levels.

i just hope they fix framepacing problems on ps4 (xbone seems to have none). Too many spikes to 31fps and then a 29fps the next refresh, it's quite apparent on the frametime graph.
i think most of the judded felt in the game is due to this. Frame drops are common, but this isn't helping at all and should be easily fixable. Yeah, just like From fixed this in bloodborne :'(

BB performance was not great but FFXV felt notably worse to me.

Not all frame pacing issues are equal. There's different degrees of frame pacing issues. Bloodborne only has a couple of zones where it's really bad.

Go find the the bloodborne framerate test and compare that graph to this one. I bet you'll find a massive difference. The demo felt way worse than BB.

Yeah but this is not part of the demo.

But SE has a history of releasing bad quality images for this game so we'll see how the final game will perform and look.

Might as well wait for PC then. If they don't release it for PC, then at least the deluxe edition (not collector's) will probably be cheaper by then.

One may very be PC footage. Just like that Chocobo video months ago.
The footage wasn't perfect. Had jaggies and shadow aliasing/dithering everywhere. So I don't agree. We will see when the game launches though.

Yeah but this is not part of the demo.

Promotional image as you said. SE PR has no idea how to take these screenshots. Duscae looked better than what the press screens showed.
