Killing Floor 2 is said to have a more increased frame rate on Pro over OGDoesn't the graphic options offered with Nioh contradicts this? Super-sampled 1080p @ 30fps and 1080p @ 60fps. Okay it is only one game but it demonstrates that developers can offer boosted frame rate options if there is a demand.
Talking about the older Alpha build right?...but it did a BAD job of holding 60fps.
Did Richard have a bad day filming this? There were a couple of times when he was oozing passive aggressiveness lol :-D
Also, Richard seems adamant that there will be zero differences in games played on PS4 and PS4Pro without a patch, even though according to his notes, Cerny told him that the only thing they did to emulate the original PS4, was to downclock the GPU and CPU to base PS4 clock, and shut off half of the GPU.
Which still doesn't account for the actual architecture differences in the GPU and the PS4 GPU giving better results by default in GPU bound scenarios, let alone speaking of the bandwidth increase that was never actually spoken on.
I think we might have some surprises in store that haven't been talked about, but we'll see.
So if it's two GPUs, that means on is 2.1TF...this might get interesting?
Their later Beta build holds a consistent 60fps who cares about a few digit drop hardly noticeable unless for people with OCD![]()
other than the Sata 3 things it's all stuff we already knewSo other then update 2 it's bad news all around. Have a preorder in that I was excited for but may cancel it now instead. Still going to wait for more direct reviews I guess especially on the hard drive thing. Targeting higher visuals instead of better frame rate was something else I was afraid of. Womp womp.
Well, there is usually still upscaling happening. Many games will checkerboard up to 1800p, for instance, and then upscale to 4K from there.
...but it did a BAD job of holding 60fps.
SONY is doing an spectacular Job at forcing 30fps, even on PRO @ 1080p,
SONY: you can have all the eye candy you want but not a frame more!!!!
I wish sony would go a little more premium with their unboxing feel. I still remember unboxing the OG XB1 even though I know longer have it, because it felt like much more of an event.

If this thing isn't going to give better framerates in every PS4 game going forward, I cant see the point.
And why the big focus on faux-not native 4k I don't understand.
Hardly anyone has a 4K tv yet.

It's Leadbetters shtick, he has downplayed everything Playstation since the dawn of time.
Forcing 30 for a game meant to run at 30 sounds great. Can't force a game to run more or you'll run into weird animation and scripting issues depending on how the game is developed like PC mods unlocking frame rate.

So SSD's are useless with the console?
Update 4:
"Ship has sailed" on people expecting better framerates at every game in 1080p. Seems they're going more in the direction of 30fps with better visuals. Leadbetter says what PS4 Pro does for 1080p is a good question and that you essentially get more "1080p goodness" and supersampling. Tomb Raider and Knack showed big improvements with supersampling. Mostly though, it's about 4k, according to Leadbetter.
Nioh has dual mode on Original PS4 , thats why the pro has it too, with improvements.
In Summary :
If its 30 fps locked (25~30) on original PS4 , than it will be 30 fps locked (29~30) on pro with graphical improvements and increased resolution, according to HDTV and 4KTV Modes.
If its 60 unlocked like battlefield which hovers from 30~60 Fps , Pro will have 45~60 Fps with some graphical improvements and increased resolution, according to HDTV and 4KTV Modes.
Yeah, no.
If gamers express to developers that they'd like an option for 1080p60 modes with reduced visuals for their games, there's no reason to believe it can't happen.
Hardware constraints were never the issue. Being unable to offer console gamers choice was. And PS4Pro gets rid of that issue.
With the cost difference, it would be silly to choose a Slim over the Pro. Super-sampling is a BIG deal plus you're likely to get more stable frame-rates.I don't want a Pro anymore, since I won't be getting 4K benefits. I'll be getting a cheaper Slim if I'm going to be forced into 30fps for the handful of exclusives that I'm interested in.
I can't comprehend how poorly Sony has handled this, given their success for the first part of this generation. Microsoft's response with Scorpio's features will be interesting to say the least.
Yup that's totally the reason lol.
Well it'll be the fastest option, but, like OG, it's probably not THAT much faster than an SSHD in most situations. I'd wait for actual tests though. Lots of people have been buying SSD just because of SATA III though. So SSD's are useless with the console?

Just having a fast drive and a fast interface doesn't fix loading times.
I've seen this argument made a few times and I don't know how true it is on consoles. I've seen it happen only once on PC (Dark Souls) where a modded framecap increase broke the timing of the game, but even that didn't take too long to get resolved. If the power was available, I really don't see how a console title couldn't be upped to 60.
It's extremely unlikely that there are two physical GPUs in there. So if it's two GPUs, that means on is 2.1TF...this might get interesting?
Slightly OT but my biggest takeaway from this is the quotes from Mark Cerny that Sony still believes in traditional all new console generations...sounds like PS5 will certainly still be a thing. Im very glad to hear this.
If a game is capped at 30fps on PS4, a 30% upclock is not going to get you to 60, no matter what, unless the headroom of the original game was so steep.
Seen people on here buying $1000+ SSD's for their Pros.
Insanity.
Dont worry they will have have like 300 articles on the pro.Article is up: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...ystation-4-pro-whats-next-for-digital-foundry
Very short article!
We have several topis here detailing the benefits of 1080p on the pro."Mostly though, it's about 4k, according to Leadbetter."
So glad it's being said. So many people on here trying to justify buying a Pro with their 1080 tvs.

Can existing HDMI cables support the higher bandwidths of HDMI 2.0 Specification?
Yes, existing High Speed HDMI Cables (wire only) will support the new higher bandwidths (up to 18Gbps).
HDMI 2.0 specification defined a new, more efficient signaling method, for speeds above 1.4b limits (10.2Gbps), to allow higher bandwidths (up to 18Gbps) over existing High Speed HDMI Wire Cables
