Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

Loving it so far. Rolling with:

Brionne
Grimer
Diglett
Cutiefly
Rockruff

Grimer been great so far and not sold on all of the others and have no 6th. Definitely want to slot in some other gen 7ers.

So there is a way to keep track of quest, right? I've already accepted two and hopefully I don't forget about them anytime soon.

Okay so, since I'm a filthy euro I'll only get this game wednesday, so how far into the game am i expected to get:

Salandit
Grubbin
Ice Vulpix
Water spider
Stufful/Sandile?

Holy crap!

I keep reading about Growlithe's in Route 2. Spend about an hour goofing around in those first two patches and have found nothing.

Is this thing like 0.01% encounter rate? Anybody got confirmation before i spend another hour here?

Wait is there an actual bottle cap item?

I came across an NPC that said they fished a bottle cap out of the water and thought it was a joke.

They're for Hyper Training. I'm barely on Akala Island, but Bottle Caps are supposedly going to be hard to come by until/unless someone figures out a reliable way to get them. I doubt playing the lottery is going to be the best method

I caught one there.

Go up a couple patches of grass
It matters

Growlithe was my first encounter there, actually. I must've been lucky

I've been playing for 4 hours and just reached the Trainers' School... I'm slow.

I've caught plenty of Pokémon but my current team so far is Rowlet, Rattata and Pichu. Rattata will be temporary but I think Raichu will stay on my team.

So far I'm loving the game. The focus on story is great, the graphics are surprisingly good and the music is cool.

I'm also digging Festival Plaza. Spent like an hour doing Type Advantage missions...

Just finished 6th trial
Current team
Dartrix - Lv 33
Pikachu - Lv 31
Lycanroc Day - Lv 32
Passimian - Lv 32
Vulpix - Lv31
Wishiwashi - Lv 30

I keep barely making it out of the trials. Not using Exp share and I'm having a blast with the difficulty. It's just enough to keep me satisfied.

Everyone who is frustrated with the call for help mechanic when catching Pokémon: remember that Pokémon cannot call for help when they are affected by a status condition. This is usually part of Pokémon catching anyway. Yawn those suckers to sleep and your problems are solved.

where did you get pichu?

I'll believe you'll find it is actually me, the player character, who is best girl

I wish she didn't have the permanent stunned amazement look to her face though.
sorry Jintor, how can you be my waifu if you're not dressed like you're going to the Kentucky Derby

In grass patches in the first town at the very least (edit: Moon version for me... not sure which patch exactly, but I'm almost sure it's one of the patches between the two long parallel roads you walk along in the introduction).

Dex entries for old mons were rewritten. Would require them to rewrite everything.

Edit: Old mons that are in Alola dex had entries rewritten is what I meant.
I know (it's always the case), but I still think that's a weak excuse. I know it's ~1800 entries instead of... 600? But seeing how the game will sell, they could have done it.

Or they could have kept the older entries.

I think you shouldn't need a paying subscription to keep track of a pokemon collection when you already buy the games.

Dartrix, a Flying type, can't learn Aerial Ace or Acrobatics.

Decidueye, not a Flying type, can however learn Acrobatics

What

Man, the Totem for Kiawe was terrible.
Went down to a single attack.

The first totem in Moon is a joke. It is a test for babies.

Inside the cavern is the TM for Brick Break, an immensely powerful 75 BP attack compared to the 40 BP attacks you have otherwise. It can be taught to Pikipek, the goddamn First Bird, and instantly kill the totem Pokémon with its 4x weakness to Fighting.

If that was too difficult for you, you can also obtain a Machop immediately preceding the cavern.

The patch right outside the Pokemon Center with the berry tree is the only patch of grass I've seen. It's right across from the cave that has the first trial.

yeah lmao it was amazing figuring out that my bird just beat the shit out of that stupid rat after he swept everything else in my team
