My coworker thinks I'm stalking her because I found her home address on a website

I think the OP is a server at a restaurant, I don't think that kind of job has an HR department, just a manager who will pull him aside and tell him to leave the female employees alone.

Do we know he wasn't stalking the male employees too?
Maybe he stalked the manager.

"I'm bored, I'll dox her for fun."

Once again someone on the internet thought that shit they do on the internet is ok in real life. SMH.

Wow, I didn't know this was stalking. Looking for people's personal info online never crossed my mind, but seeing it now it does sound creepy as hell.

Just when I was starting to think I'd seen it all on GAF you guys go and surprise me yet again.

Bravo.

My favorite part is how you know what she said IN THE BATHROOM afterwards. Picturing OP hanging upside down above the stall mission impossible style.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
This is the rare moment before a G/A/F? story is on the news.

It's strange how social media can turn people into "stalkers". I mean, my now wife said she did a Google search for all my info before we met. Everything, just in case I wasn't on the county's list of SO's or something.

I mean, anymore the amount of power you can have just by a few clicks is more damaging than actually physically doing something.

Stalking is a terrible term. I deleted Twitter. I mean, the program is like a "stalking simulator". It can turn a person who might not normally have those tendencies and pretty much influence them to have even more contact with people they don't know.

I could be wrong, but today's day and age it's easy to mess up. I'd say just leave her alone and learn from it.

To be fair to the OP, I'm sure the woman in question would be more weirded-out by him believing asking ordinary conversational questions was her showing romantic interest than him searching for her personal information online.

Oh and a woman asking if you have a girlfriend isn't always a signal. Assume nothing. Always fire back a why did you ask after answering.

OP, even if what you say was done as innocently as you said it, it was very dumb to tell her you did that and not expect that reaction.

Obviously the sensible thing to do now is to use the information you've gained to your advantage. You have her address, correct? Then go to her place. Preferably around 9pm or later - a better chance that she'd naturally be quite relaxed at that point. Then simply explain to her your full side of the story.. maybe even print out a few pages from this thread (printing out the pages, instead of just showing her the thread from your phone, will show her that you've put a lot of thought into your explanation & that you're truly sincere).

I'd wish you good luck but you don't need it.

So, OP, it was like

"Hey when's your birthday?"
"July"
"Oh really? Me too!"

And you decided the best response was
"I know..."

I mean... Come on, son...

What you did is really bad OP. Even with my terrible social skills and social anxiety issues I would never dare to dig up someone's phone number and house address using a random website. My friends usually tell me anything important they want me to know like there birthday for example or FB reminds me.

I'm thinking if she ever went to HR that OP would be fucked.

Honestly I think she should. It's creepy as all fucking hell. Just why would you do that? I saw the site and noped the fuck out immediately. Hell even warned family and a casual friend cause our state is linked on that site and has the same damn kind of database.

I don't even know why you look up her home address. At work you should have a see no evil hear no evil attitude. I work at a place where the majority are women and looking at them I suspect could get you into trouble let alone looking up their home address. When they say hello, I say hello back other than that I just mind my own damn business.

Op fucked up.
