Mass Effect 5 won't dabble with stylised visuals like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, director says. Will have the "mature tone of the original trilogy".

Unlike Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which hits shops later this week, Mass Effect 5 will not seek to tweak the sci-fi franchise's established visual style, he said.

"Mass Effect is photorealistic and will be as long as I'm running it," Gamble wrote in a post on X.

"Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a sci-fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs," he continued, "and has to have different kinds of love."

As for Mass Effect 5's tone, Gamble wrote it would "maintain the mature tone of the original Trilogy. This is all I'm going to say for now."

More worried about the writing, if choices matter and put me on Good/Evil alignment and whether or not I can actually play as an Asari, Krogan or any race of my choosing.

If you want to restore faith I'd talk more about everything then just the visuals.

Gamble has been at Bioware since ME2 and does not seem to be one of the pronoun people, so that's a good sign. Question is, what is his writing team like. Andromeda, that he has been involved with, already had a pretty lame "sitcom in space" script.

Bioware fucked up with Dragon Age and they know it. The game isn't even out yet and they are doing damage control for their next big release.

Yeahhhhhhhh I don't believe a single solitary word out of Gambles gob. That is assuming we even get the next Mass Effect. At this point the way Dragon Age is going I am doubtful it will even break even. I think the future is not Mass Effect 4, the future is EA taking Bioware out back and doing an ole Yeller on it.

How you bring a dark fantasy to life is also different from whatever the fuck Veilguard was. How do these losers live with themselves with the constant drivel they run outta their mouth?

Honestly, the lead devs and the way they've been talking about the project always made me much more confident about this than DA4.

I know it sounds like damage control and endless undeserved hope but i feel that way since they announced the game, and i always felt like DA4 was going to be garbage.

Can't wait for Shepherd to stick his tongue out and tell that journalist he doesn't like her. Definitely can't have any slapping in Blue's Clues Mass Effect.

LOL. Right before Veilguard launches and he says "Don't worry guys, Mass Effect 5 won't do to Mass Effect what Veilguard did to Dragon Age"

Way to show some confidence in your creation. This launch is going to be such a shit show.

Oh man, this is not a good look.

I've already decided I'll be looking forward to Exodus more, since that's being done by the original devs.

Don't worry guys, it's going to be totally different.
The recently released board game is totally not giving us a nice indication of where things are going

How mature we talking? Hopefully it takes into consideration just how mature the modern audience actually is.

I actually just dropped Andromeda after less than six hours. Maybe they'll make a good game next time. It pretty much felt like a reskin of DA Inquisition, which I dropped in a similar amount of time.

I dont think Mass Effect had a mature tone at all, so this just proves they have no idea about their franchises lol. Outside of Dragon Age Origins I dont think Bioware made anything mature.
