Costco no longer sells Xbox consoles and games

That slew of new games will be on PS5 either at launch or a handful of months after.
Irrelevant to my post I'm afraid.

A slew of big games to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Xbox would make 2026 be "the one." And the release of NextBox hardware would only make it better. Gonna be good times.

Don't forget the failure of Amazon as well. Ms will succeed where those other tiny companies have failed though!
I guess you have nothing to worry about then, so why doth thou protest so much? Besides, if Microsoft fails there won't be anyone else to succeed at cloud. Certainly not NVIDIA...right?

Completely relevant

This new hardware will confirm the death of Xbox as a console competitor and will be the start of it withering away as just another gaming PC brand alongside ROG and Legion.

Sounds like you are not engaging in good faith. The LOL reaction spam helped confirmed my suspicions.

While I didn't ask for your opinion on the future of Xbox, I thank you for sharing it. I will remember that when I speak about the 25th anniversary of Xbox in the future.

Xbox as a hardware manufacturer is doomed at this point, between disappearing from stores and releasing its games on PS5 and Switch 2, its next hardware will have residual sales.

ASUS and other such GPU OEM companies will be making the following Xbox branded items

-Xbox Series S, X and Z consoles
-Xbox branded PC steam boxes with stripped down, launcher focused W11
-Xbox Deck type paraphernalia
-Controllers and such

First party hardware will go away. We're stuck with Zotac Gamepass portals because you guys wouldn't pay $70 for Gears 5.

And the best way to play PS games moving forward will be on the next Xbox. It's going to be tough times for the Sony loyalists- Xbox Magnus APU vs the potato chip in the PS6.

The same reason I slow down when passing a mangled car on a motorway.
Seeing as you're clearly fascinated by disasters, you should check out how poorly Silent Hill f runs on the PS5 Pro.

Amazing how they managed to f this up like this. Not that they care that much anymore. They make tons of money on the multiplat strategy. Microsoft Gaming all the way baby. Xbox, you say? That's so 2005.

Xbox is just as relevant as Surface. Or Sony's Xperia phones.

First xbox gen i never bought.

Not a sign but i sure as fuck buy everything else
Who can blame you. The Series X is a great console, but... When I bought my Series X in 2021 it was mainly based on hopes for future exclusives. They sold that console on the promise of exclusive games, period. Then with the acquisition of ABK they dropped that completely. Not pretty.

You would think that if Microsoft cared one bit about any of this they would communicate and let people know their plans.

Theyve obviously cut back manufacturing to almost none existent levels and raised prices due to that.

It doesn't surprise me that retailers would be like " the new cost prices for q4 2025 are what?" Nope. We are good thx lol

If they hope to sell units of a new device they should be communicating. It's dead.

They don't want Xbox owners to abandon the platform over night while they're still building up their library of available PS5 games.

A lot of it is probably this. If they announce it's over then they would essentially lose revenue everywhere including what game sales they have, what little hardware sales they have, accessory sales, and even Game Pass because why support a brand that just said they are dead? They will want to hold on to as much as possible for as long as possible.

It's similar to new console revision announcements where they don't generally get announced too far in advance because you are going to cannibalize the sales of your current model until the new one comes out because why would somebody buy the old when the new is coming.

Unfortunately, for Xbox fans it's gonna be a quick death where one day everything is normal and the next they are gone as it's the only way for it really to work.

Strange coming from the guy that believed that Series S was going to benefit the most from GTAVI

I don't think it's actually going to be too tough for Xbox fans as they've not had the big releases for aaages. By the time fable comes there will be much better hardware out and everyone will be over it. Just pick up a ps6 or pc whatever suits you and you'll be fine for all Xbox games. I hope most people will be happy that they have to pay less on hardware and can just buy one console.

I changed my view on that after new data emerged over the past year. That's what great analysts do- they react and adapt to new market information and review their analysis accordingly.

One thing for sure, it will be uncomfortable for some Sony loyalists to witness the power of the next Xbox. The same people who rushed out to buy the PS5 Pro will apparently see no need for a high end games machine without a Sony sticker slapped on it. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Xbox consoles Are dead ever since COVID-19 bonus for Entertainment didnt translate into being near relevant in the console Space.

They had the sales boost from the pandemic, didnt do jack shit. They were so up into buying abk that they lost sight on what matters. This wont end well. I Hope we get competition for Sony soon and fast.

Even sony failing harder then ever before didnt give them the glimpse of a fighting Chance . Spending near 100billion and having 0 Games of the size as elden Ring, breath of the wild, og halo, tlou 1 etc. Is an embaressment. Atleast a horizon Zero dawn shouldve been happening by now. But, nothing.

There very low chance of anybody entering the space at this point. It's too expensive, and near impossible to bring something to the table the others don't/can't have.

The only hope is Valve with a new "Steam Machine" as they are the only established name in the business that knows how to make hardware and has the ability to do so.

Even then a Valve "console" isn't going to sell anywhere close to PlayStation numbers nor do I think it would probably hit Series consoles numbers. What it could do though is shake up the market which I think is more important.

Put it this way, that Xbox Roger Ally won't sell anywhere near SteamDeck.

So a console form factor "SteamBox" would like outsell the next gen "Xbox"

One of the reasons Google didn't invest in exclusivity for Stadia was that they couldn't or didn't want to spend the same as Microsoft. Google wasn't going to spend ~100 billion on Stadia, so they quickly gave up.

Microsoft's presence in the console market is the main barrier to new competitors.

No one outside of the established market (Sony and Nintendo) can compete with MS in consoles.
MS was, or was, already established and had "infinite funds" for the Xbox; other new companies, at best, could have "infinite funds" and nothing more.

That new Wolvie game you lads are looking forward to will look terrific on the next Xbox. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

You can't expect much from people like that:

Your point?

Next Xbox will be an expensive unsubsidised PC.

So if you're happy with that why not switch to PC now? Or are you waiting for one with an Xbox sticker?

You were trying to claim that the next Xbox wouldn't have a power advantage. You're now retreating to your familiar "PC with an Xbox sticker" argument instead. As if modern PlayStations aren't 99% AMD inventions.

I understand shitting on Xbox is cool and all but Xbox's 25th anniversary is next year and will be a "really special" event per Phil Spencer. We're looking at a new Fable, Forza, and Gears of War on top of strong hints from Phil Spencer about the return of a classic franchise.

We will likely get a glimpse at the new hardware, and if fate wills it, a holiday 2026 release to compliment the slew of new games.

That slew of new games will be on PS5 either at launch or a handful of months after.

What a strange fate for Fable, a game revealed alongside Xbox Series in 2020.

Irrelevant to my post I'm afraid.

How is it irrelevant if the games are on other platforms everyone already has and the NextBox is an expensive PC with no software subsidy? Granted, that's all an if, but all signs point, no?

It's like, just wait...SEGA is coming back with a slate on Saturn games for the $1500 SaturnNextPC that comes with an AOL disc, and they're coming out also on PS1. But that's irrelevant, bc 1996 is gonna be THE YEAR
