Costco no longer sells Xbox consoles and games

Video games are a digital medium. Physical media is dunzo, you either accept it or sulk in obscurity.
That's ok, but to LOSE my purchases moving forward is a fucking disgrace. If they can't figure out how to fix this issue then that is just awful and it means moving forward, I will NEVER purchase anything through Microsoft gaming.

I can't think of anyone who has made a greater effort at backward compatibility than Microsoft.

Not trying to lie on purpose it just what's going on at the moment. Either it's a glitch or they are sweeping Xbox under the rug of their front door and want nothing to do with them anymore.
Wasn't really aiming at you . You were just copying that shit Reddit post.

But Reddit is full of garbage people With no brain.

Why would an OEM want to produce their own version of a dead console? If MS can't even sell them (at subsidized prices), how would Asus, Lenovo, Samsung, etc? They would make far more money making SteamOS consoles.
Because their gaming PC would be more attractive if it also had the Xbox logo alongside its own.

For example, ASUS ROG XBOX, in my opinion, has more marketing power than ASUS ROG alone.

Furthermore, Microsoft could also offer its OEM partners benefits, such as a few months of free Game Pass or other Xbox-related offers.

Exactly, they're hoping the logo will bring Xbox console owners across to their PC.

Having a userbase barely larger than the OG Xbox is "many"? Now I see what you meant as "nostalgic"...
It's Series Console userbase that is 30-32 million. However, there's still another 20-25 million active Xbox One users who haven't upgraded yet, or play Series games via xCloud. Then there's the 5-7 million PC Gamepass users plus few million Cloud only users.

It's not just the logo, if the Xbox PCs running on that AMD hardware for nextgen family of devices have current levels of BC and full FC.

It's not fud, do you not know how to read? See below.

Gone from front page and store floors.
Those links are neither.

All of which can be played elsewhere. Which they are.
Which doesn't change the reality that many people are playing them on Xbox. Never claimed they were exclusives. 🤷‍♂️

Over 30 million Xbox Series owners plus a healthy percentage of Xbox One users ="barely" larger than OG Xbox userbase? :pie_thinking:

Going multiplatform for everything has completely killed the sales momentum though.

It's clear that if they went into a new generation with the same multi-platform approach they won't get near that, 5m max.

Microsoft seem content with that considering the increase of game sales across the board.

"Many" lmao. Not compared to other platforms. Which is why Xbox hardware is disappearing.

Over 30 million Xbox Series owners
This is highly debatable. There hasn't ever been legitimate sources to confirm this, yet people still throw that number around like it is factual.

When you weigh everything up over the last five years, a more realistic sounding number would be around 15-20 million tops. Less if Sony were not hardware constrained during COVID, as a lot of people purchased Series S machines whilst waiting to be able to get a PS5.

There is a legitimate source for those numbers- Welfare.

Meanwhile the source for this - "trust me bro."

"Realistic sounding number" is an opinion based on what we currently see with the market. Not an actual factual statement. I never stated it was anything other than an opinion. If you read that differently, that's on you my friend.

And no, there IS NOT a credible source that confirms 30+ million sales of Series S/X.
If you think there is, then please post it.

I probably already know of the ones you will post, and again, they'll be the same sources that have no actual credible information.

Welfare is a hugely respected source.
Of course I knew it was your opinion. It's just funny you thought to advance it right after dismissing the highly credible 30 million plus numbers.

Can you honestly look at the past five years and genuinely think close to 30 million is feasible?

Its really not mate.

Much like Microsoft releasing numbers saying they have over 30 million gamepass subscribers- yeah no shit but many millions of them are only on gamepass core cause you changed Gold to that to inflate gamepass numbers! And their rabid one eyed fans will lap it up like gamepass is the way forward and Microsoft is doing the right thing! Fucking delusional.

Nah man. If it has multiple stores on it, it'll sell at least 15 million.

It may not be 30 million, but it isn't far behind. I think everything we have says its a absolute minimum of 27 to 28 million.

That's why I said I'd like to see a real source, as to me I can't picture it being close to that. Even with the early buyers of Series S due to PS5 supply constraints during COVID.

I can play Xbox on my tv without a console for $20 a month. That's how Microsoft wants it. They used to sell Microsoft Office in cd's as well, but now that's a subscription too. The money is in software and subs, not selling hardware.

They will stay in the hardware market, but cloud streaming with subs is the market they really want to corner. It does work well, but I still prefer hardware and installing.

That's been the end-game for some time, yes.

But what you said here in the bolded is why MS' dreams won't come true in gaming. People don't want cloud streaming that much.

Every year was, "Next Year". Even now it's "wait till Next year".
Reminds of when my father got me a 3DO and magazines would mention the great future it had. Well, that future was the PS1 a year later. I had one single game for my 3DO. Road Rash. And as incredibly as RR is, it wasn't enough to hold me to that ecosystem.

If you don't keep to your promise, people move on, and we're seeing that again with Xbox.

I understand shitting on Xbox is cool and all but Xbox's 25th anniversary is next year and will be a "really special" event per Phil Spencer. We're looking at a new Fable, Forza, and Gears of War on top of strong hints from Phil Spencer about the return of a classic franchise.

We will likely get a glimpse at the new hardware, and if fate wills it, a holiday 2026 release to compliment the slew of new games.

Hold On GIF

How many people need to pay $20/mo in order to match the revenue Sony makes?

That slew of new games will be on PS5 either at launch or a handful of months after.

What a strange fate for Fable, a game revealed alongside Xbox Series in 2020.

A great benefit of digital too is it covers going BC from hardware to hardware now on console. Just like PC.

And console disc players have to keep their old system to play it or pray future systems have an optical drive willing to play old discs. At some point console makers will stop including them.

Yeah exactly. I really don't get the attachment to physical in the context of video games. It all seems so precious and artificial to me. I am not moved at all by cries of "ownership" either. You can "own" the game or whatever, I'll just play it thanks.
