Monitoring the situation in Iran

The real issue is the lack of replacement, as well as bureaucracy. Why does it take one month to make a single Patriot missile? why are Lockheed, Raytheon and the likes so slow? why did Biden not commission significant rearmament? Tons of jobs would have been created in factories to make 155mm artillery ammo, air defence missiles, HIMARS missiles and more ATACMS.
The saying is fast, good, cheap, you can only pick two. But manufacturing is so dominated by China now that if you want good it seems you can pretty much only pick one.

Giving Ukraine the weapons wasn't the problem. Most of those were made to destroy Russian tanks and airplanes and they've done the job quite well with zero American casualties.

it may well be the best investment the U.S. military has made in a long time.

Artillery and less complex equipment was ramped up fairly quickly. The US has a problem with high end manufacturing in general. It lacks the population willing/able to ramp up advanced supply chains. Taiwan semiconductor's fabs have been floundering because it's having trouble building up a local workforce. Neither party does much to address the growing skills gap.

Iran won on day 1... by setting a trap... where all their major leaders get wiped out, and 99% of their retaliatory strikes get shot down, and their people rejoice in the streets that the regime might come to an end.

because the 30-something % of Islamic believers in the country... Now have more faith?

What am I even listening to?

this is worse than Alex Jones

I'd argue the recent push to build fabs in the U.S, in case of war and for "future proofing" is also a factor. There is also the administration's push for rare earth supply chain independence.

Ritter's making some sweet bucks from being on a dozen Youtube channels every day for years now, stating how the US and its allies are being crushed.
If you look at his new vids, these hacked channels pop up with a dozen views on some niche local subject and suddenly post 10 videos per day on IT'S OVER FOR THE US

Just like their Hamas affiliates. I guess that's why Israel has started to use more special forces on the ground now. Plus with new bombers coming to Iran, they will need some forces to cleanup the terrorists and schools and such. Ideally the local iranian forces should do that. Like for example, why the reporters and others do not attack or expel the officials?

FFS, these Islamists are already hiding behind children.
Spineless cowards.

Please feel free to tell me who the good guys are.

Good guys, similar ro Gondor from TLOTR? Nothing like that in the real world.

I guess good guys now are countries that fight back against totalitarian regimes that try to destroy them, same was true during WW2 and same is true now.

Russia was always on "totalitarian regime that try to destroy them" side.

I agree in the days of the first two world wars you could define good vs bad far easier. Now it's much more context and nuanced. There are more bad guys out there, it's just different perspectives. Same with countries, they don't have friends, they have interests.

Taking over Venezuela was very smart. Plus kicking out China from Panama. Together with LNG exports and energy security - USA is the most energy secure country now and much less vulnerabilities.

The more I see the rumour about defensive weapons being on low stock denied the more I believe it to be true.

And fuck the others ain't it?

Only this plays into Russia's hands, both the oil and gas and the delivery of weapons. On the other hand, Trump warned Zelensky to reach an agreement quickly before this all started.
The problem is that Russia needs the weapons themselves. And pipelines and other stuff was destroyed too. Plus all the second order effects from the falling shipping routes. Russia is not a winner here at all. For Ukraine...Well they are in EU and UK camp so...Considering the conflict between Ukraine and Hungary/Slovakia over the gas. EU will also has to deal with their own sanctions on Russian gas and so on.

Angry mob is very angry... They would probably kill him if wasn't able to prove them that he is not Iranian. And even if this was Iranian pilot he shouldn't be killed on the spot...

This only shows how different ME countries are to western countries. Why are those people allowed here?

Fighter pilots are armed with a combination of sidearms and compact rifles (in their flight seat kit) for ejection. Sidearms are hidden in the flight suit, but easy access. He would've taken them all out with their sticks if they didn't back down.

Good on him for deescalation.

Why aren't they doing this shit in bunkers? lol.

Nobody wants to be the next supreme leader, hahaha.
This is the issue with Iran though, I don't think there is ANY secular (or at least non-islamic hardliner) leadership there, AT ALL. So you have a bunch of true believers, only there because they ARE true believers, having to decide to abandon what they see as their core values in order to appease an attacker or just double down and pray their sky god saves them like he says he will in the book they have been reading for 1500 years.

So it's unlikely there is a senior General, cabinet minister, or viable opposition party leader that can step up and provide a clear path forward. Hell, I doubt they even have city mayors, state governors, or whatever their equivalent might be, to choose from in the way we have depth of field in America. The Shah's son seems like an extremely unlikely solution, has he's been here in America for 40 years and is really only mentioned as a relic of the ROYALTY system of rule Iran used to have, not exactly the sort of this we in America should be promoting :P

Though in reality, I suspect Iran is gonna have a military coup from a cadre of soldiers who understand the need to appease the US, will crush any opposition with merciless force, and will try to wait out the US's interest in them for a few years until a more capitulating POTUS comes in and then lets them go back. They know the US operates more like a wacky waving inflatable tube man and a new breeze will blow it in a new direction shortly.

I find it interesting that they would mistake a white american for an Iranian in the first place...which I think says a lot about how some ethnic Iranians look.

Some articles suggest the pilot was 'surrendering' when he took a knee, I kinda wonder if he was about ready to draw a sidearm and smoke some fools....
