Only 135k on a weekend, it's dead Jim. Goddamn what a failure. Already lost over 60% of its peak in less than 24 hours. Can't imagine Pearl Abyss is too happy about that. Must be all those woke reeeetards who are against AI art in games. Looks like it won't recover papitos.

I'm hearing about a lot of bugs that happen the further into the game you get, must be all the poor people with shitty graphics cards. The 6090 can't come soon enough, then all games will look and run perfect.

Anyone want to guess an ETA of imminent layoffs and studio closure? Goddamn, how terrible, it's like watching a trainwreck in slowmo.

Meanwhile Death Stranding 2 from that fart-sniffing, talentless hack Kojima has stayed pretty consistent to its peak in the same timeframe. I mean really, what's wrong with people?

People often think graphics aren't everything.

It's not a movie; it's a video game where you interact with input devices.

And the game is garbage in that aspect, plain and simple...

Add to that the fact that the story is complete and utter nonsense, and that Kliff feels like a caricature.

Then you have Death Stranding 2, which does almost everything perfectly. You don't need an expansive map with ray tracing on every page... and stone, and a story and characters that grab you from the very first minute.

Not to mention that when you play, everything feels perfectly responsive, unlike Crimson.

You sound like you haven't talked to your parents in a long time.

But yeah, I think the game had it's peak, it won't reach higher CCU than it already had. I'm still quite interested, I hope they will fix some of the main complaints.

Looks like game sold pretty well( roughly 2/3rds of re9) but of the ppl who bought it there is sizeable chunk(roughly 1/3rd) who got disseapointed with it/stopped playing already, that would explain no weekend ccu bump and relatively low steam/playstation store user scores.

Measuring CCU of singleplayer games is certainly ... something

It sold 2M already. Pearl Abyss will be fine even if player retention tanks.

This is no GAAS

I think t's a valid comparison if you compare it with other single player games, but yeah, I guess people were expecting this game to do big numbers in every metric like other hyped single player games like Baldur's Gate, Wukong or Hollow Knight.

Let's for a second talk about dynamics here and I'll make a few uncomfortable points about GAFs holy cow

First of all, it clearly peaked on the PR hype on the first day and never recovered during best time slot for SP game meaning that the word-of-mouth is mixed at best

Second of all, let's look at the dynamics of the reviews

It had quite brutal reviews in Asia and especially in Korea, believe it or not

2 Million figure is acccounted for all platforms and console versions are, to put it mildly, not the best. If we exclude all the platrorm fees from this number the average net profit won't be so huge, especially for a game with a 6-year dev cycle with multiple reboots.

I mean, CD can be considered a modest success, but it's far from smashing hit like KCD 2 was in the same release window a year ago (and with far better palyer retention too btw). I also think that KCD2 is a neat reference point, not some weird takes about other games.

What the fuck?? You would think Asians would be more satisfied with Crimson Desert since it isn't some woke Western trash, they are actually mixed because of the gameplay and not because of some social politics??

You would think that people would buy 2 copies just to spite western gaming media... what the hell is happening??

Messy controls and the game being offline MMO, really. (you can google translate reviews yourself)

In Asia, there's enough free games that are simply 'better' despite the monetization. And I think people in this climate is way more critical for a full-priced SP release.
