do you actually watch tennis? for him this is probably his favorite win but seeing how he cried his heart out (something i admire) after losing the AO and Wimby you must be mad if you think a GS is more important for him and it is much more important in a career of a tennis player.

i will end this discussion now, the guys in this topic that i know watch tennis regularly all agree with me.

No point in arguing with them. Everyone who watches tennis regularly knows that the Slams are everything. When talking about great tennis players in the past, nobody is going to bring up the Olympics. They don't even play 5 sets until the Final. Same thing with basketball, same thing with football. An Olympic gold is always just an icing on the cake.

That said, winning gold in front of your home crowd is definitely very meaningful, especially when he lost in the final in the same venue just a month ago.

LOL @ how close that hail mary shot was in Womens water polo. Chinese goalie threw it at the other goal, and it almost went in.

you don't have to watch tennis regularly to realise how important the slams are.

I'm still sticking to my point that the Olympics only come around every 4 years, and on home soil is a once in a career (if you're lucky) event.

Of course a Grand Slam is more important in the overall career sense and strictly looking at ranking points given, but it'd be foolish to think that Andy won't look back on the Olympic Gold in London as a defining and stand out moment in his career.

anyway yeah, let's end this and not shit up the thread

go cycling!

Shit, Chinese goal keeper nearly just threw a buzz beater to win the women's water polo game against Australia.

Australia were 3-0 coming in, China 0-3, would've been a massive upset. Still could be!

Clancy 4 points behind the leaders with one event to go - how good/bad is that?

Well, you get points for where you finish. ie. 1st = 1pt, 2nd = 2pts, 10th = 10pts. So if he's 4 behind the leader, then in the final event if he gets 1st he'll need the current leader to get 5th or worst to tie.
