Who's bitter now? If there's any tactics it's not because they hate the English for their empire (why would French,Italian, Spanish, German etc... triathletes give a shit about the British empire?) it's because they're the favorites, stop mixing sports with politics.
The problem with stopping the favourites from winning in the road cycling event was that the others made no attempt to win themselves. Cavendish went on record as saying - about that event - that if your goal isn't to win there is no reason for you to be there. Stopping others from doing it is just pathetic and just a little bit spiteful.

The following events should be removed from the Olympics:

- All equestrian events (especially Dressage)
- Modern Pentathlon
- Rythmic Gymnastics
- About 2 or 3 swimming distances in each stroke (we don't need 5 Freestyle distances)
- Swimming Individual Med. Relay
- Kerin in the track cycling
- Men's Trap Shooting (not the double trap)
- A couple of Canoeing/Kayaking sprints

Then the following need to be put in:

- 20/20 Cricket
- Rugby Sevens
- 60m Sprint (?)
- 5-a-side-football
- Squash
- Karate
- Baseball (a shorter form?)

discuss.

This would remove approx. 15-20 gold medal opportunities. I'm not just saying these sports because I'm British, we'd lose 2 or 3 golds through this

Outside of cutting down on the swimming I strongly disagree with the other events you want to get rid of. Stuff like modern pentathalon is awesome and not only should they keep rhythmic gymnastic they should start giving out medals for the individual events and not just the all-around.

Also, the favourites NEVER win the triathlon so I'm not even expecting a medal from these apparently amazing "Brownlee Brothers".

lol at Brownlee brothers in quotation marks, If that's what they calling themselves.

I think Gomez is the main rival today, but the Brownlee brothers will be too strong for him. All three are already in the leading pack of five. Things are going exactly as planned.

Tactics are part of a race, not all GB road cyclists were trying to win the race.

I've never watched much of Bolt before, but he's always friendly to staff, gave a thumbs up to the person who gave him a water as thanks. That's class and egalitarianism to me and I think I'm a fan.

Modern Pentathlon is just an arbitrary set of events set together. I've heard it's based on being behind enemy lines or something but that's not good enough.

It's just random shit in one event.

Lol, just a reminder, if any were needed, just how hated we Brit's are around the world.

One day, probably not in my lifetime, the rest of the world will forgive us for the Empire.
I hate this attitude. There are countries in this world that have done equally distasteful things and they gladly ignore their own history and how much they've benefitted from imperialism in favour of fixating on Britain.

yay! this lead group are ACTUALLY working together

as someone who has travelled around the world quite extensively, the VAST majority of people around the world don't really give a shit, and have been unbelievably friendly to me.

Even in France (outside of Paris ofc)

you're wrong about the removals. Why remove what other people like just because you deem them not worthy? For example, there will be people that train and compete at world level in rhythmic gymnastics and they have a strong following and fans etc. Why deny them a world platform? Not like the gymnastics arena is being used for anything else.

The only restrictions I'd put in place are time/logistics ones. If you have a dedicated arena like the velodrome - use it for the full two weeks and put whatever events you want in there to provide a balanced view of competitive cycling. Perhaps include (like they do) the other related discliplines, so there is no track cycling when there is also BMX or mountain biking. So a committed cycling fan can have their own cycling focused olympics.

Same for swimming/diving (they don't tend to overlap) and gymnastics/trampoline

I think all sports should be considered for being added to the olympics. They'd need to qualify - I'd put a requirement for a certain amount of global support (which might rule out baseball and possibly rugby and cricket) and they need to have a well organised governing body capable of working with the IOC to organise. Ideally they also don't require standalone facilities - eg Karate could work to compete alongside judo and other mat sports.

I wouldn't really say that shooting, swimming, running, fencing and horseback riding are random. It's pretty much to see who is the ultimate bad-ass. Plus modern pentathalon has been in the Olympics for 100 years now.

my removals were very carefully thought of. Rythmic gymnastics is INCREADIBLY subjective for the judges, it often isn't clear why someone won.

There are too many swimming events. No I'm not saying this because GB did shit, it's just that the amount of events is unreal. Also they should do what they did in the cycling and limit the amount of events people can enter. Phelps is amazing, but how is it fair that he can win 18+ golds, but someone who won the Triathalon 5 times in a row only gets 5 Golds.

there were 26 riders who finished in front of the favorites, from nearly every country as well

Great Britain and Germany were always going to take gold and silver if the race would end in a mass sprint, so they should have realized that when a break away group formed with virtually every other relevant country represented there was no incentive for the remaining riders to help them get back
