Nutella kind of looks like the guy who sang chocolate rain.

Pretty obvious if you think about. One of the least popular consoles, whose parent company has made so many mistakes and had low output for real gamers the last two gens, always has the most vocal and active fan base on social media. It's almost like they never have time to actually play games. Hmm.

It went into overdrive with this attempt to buy the market up. Hell, there's a big forum that bans people for just opposing the deal. Let's just say that reeks of not being an organic decision. Wouldn't doubt that a shit ton of those letters the CMA got from the "public" were astroturf, as well. Glad they saw through all the BS.

Would love to have Twitter posts banned as a source of factual news unless coming from an accredited news outlet.

Could be true. Might not be true. Might have nuance. Who knows?

I guess the implication of the OP is it's better to be an idiot for love than money. But still, I have a hard time shaking the vague notion that there might be more than two choices.

These reviewers are the real gamers.

Go take a look at the steam curator page now. These guys all have the same two games 'live' with the exact same text. Their honest to goodness from the heart real reviews of Ratchet and Clank though

But check out this interesting take form Gaming Taylor that takes a completely different tack

It's really is just factual information and it's even positive on its face. But I hope we can agree it's in the form of a tailored response to Sony's show. Playstation social presence doesn't come off like they are fixated on Xbox. The closest example I can think of is the old game sharing video. That was some real "take this and rub it in their face, boys!".
plus combined with the fact that Xbox actually puts a gag order on their own shows for multiplatform games (e.g. anything Atlus it seems) is what makes it negative IMO
This might be true, but these people will never admit it because for sure it is part of their contracts.

And as we have seen, they’re not denying it but just projecting that “others do it too.”
or flat out denying it despite there being proof and some of them having been here at the Xbox One launch when a bunch of Microsoft astroturfers were busted & banned… plus we have the usual like you were pointing out such as this
All companies astro, it is part of the marketing.

This reads like a disgruntled former employee, however.
funny how it almost always comes from accounts that everything about them screams alt 🤔

Always funny how many go straight to the "I gUeSs i WaS a sHilL aFteRALl" joke, getting defensive and trying to whitewash the situation. Been saying it forever. Corporate astroturfing is common practice and business as usual, and people still don't believe it.

They are here too, and I call them out when I see them. It's a much bigger problem than most think. Just because you don't notice it doesn't change that it exists everywhere.

I won’t defend that they ended it though 😠 honestly I think that’s one of the dumbest decisions they’ve made in the past 5 years was to stop the enhanced BC program
I know they lie evertime they open their mouth, but they had a reason for that: "We have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints".

You probably don't realise that there were multiple teams of programmers working on the project and that they'd been reaching out to publishers to ask them to give permission to update their titles so they could run on current hardware, it wasn't something they could do without permission. It wasn't an insignificant effort to get it done, which is why it is so worthy of praise but I'm not sure if they Microsoft just ran out of willing parties, which is why the process came to an end, or if it was partly budget driven, or both.

Either way, it was something for nothing that they didn't have to do, they deserve praise for it.

Your cheque is in the mail.
Yeah but licensing issues OH GOD I'm already defending.
wow that must have been a wire transfer 😜

and yeah licensing issues play a part I’m sure but they didn’t even enhance all of their own games 😕 or do more with the Bethesda games after that acquisition (despite Microsoft now owning Fallout, Bethesda, and Obsidian; New Vegas never got enhancements except for a FPS boost)

edit: Gears of War Judgement is another one that only got a FPS boost, Lost Odyssey didn’t get any boosts (imagine if they had enhanced it like they worked with Square-Enix to do for FFXIII 🤩), Crackdown 2, etc.

my point being licensing was a factor but honestly I think they just used that as an excuse because they clearly just wanted to drop the program, it seems like it was more of a selling point for the One X when they knew they were losing the generation but they didn’t think they’d need it for the Series systems (I mean why is backwards compatibility on the Series S gimped by not getting any of the One X enhancements?)

My girlfriend and I actually went to the Xbox Showcase event last year, in Los Angeles. Fanfest is what they called it. We sat in the Microsoft theater to watch the Showcase then had free food and left for the beach. But they also had free Starfield and Redfall stuff, demo stations (for games that were already out), and lines for meeting with Phil Spencer and asking a question.

I'm pretty sure most of the people there were real fans. I also met Tina Amini there.

There is no other explanation for these people to hype turd after turd. The saddest part is all the people that are not paid but have been brainwashed long enough for the last 20 years and they think they like Xbox ecosystem and MS products.
sad black and white GIF
So just because other people have different opinions make them brainwashed?

MS doesn't make the best games, but they have a few franchises e.g I prefer and the titles are sometimes good enough up to really good (and no, redfall wasn't one of those titles).
I also still have my ps4 pro but so far only used it for a few titles. But as long as a product is good enough it is ok for me to buy it on any plattform I can afford.

For me e.g. Sony is not a company I can trust (that was the company that thought it would be a good idea to place rootkits on CDs for copy protection....). I also don't think I can really trust MS, but the good thing about this big company is, they get controlled to find problems from many, many companies.

Yeah, it's not an instant, no effort process - like I said, they had multiple teams on it. A lot of the problems, as I understand it, came from people doing weird stuff with console hardware when people wrote directly to the hardware, rather than using a 3rd party engine, etc. (I am not a programmer), it meant that sometimes games ran in a way that was both dependent on and tailored to the timings in specific chips in the older consoles and how long processes took to pass through the pipline. That meant that when the game was running on newer hardware you couldn't just expect it to work without building new code to help with the translation. Every game in the BC programme has it's own emulator.

It's pretty crazy what they did.
