Russian Steam News for Mafia: The Old Country and multiple other (Polish, Italian) pages about PAX announcement were graced with additional unedited paragraph about the release date. Screenshot via me.

Someone at PR clearly mixed up press texts.

Looks like game gonna launch definitely before GTA6, and lemme tell u, crowd is already thirsty af for that kind of game(yes, mafia is bit different setting but still pretty close).
Predicting as long as game is at least solid(aka 8/10 from objective pov), its gonna sell gangbusters, 5 to 10m copies in launch window, aka full price :)
 
Looking forward to it. While OG Mafia is the best, all the sequels and remake have had their own positives and enjoyment, and this one will be good too.

We didnt even get 2nd gta6 trailer with some "autumn" or "winter 2025" release date yet, so few months delay is super likely.
Personally i wouldnt be surprised if game is delayed even to september 2026 tho, coz rockstar cant risk it to be just decent, they need it to be polished and as amazing as humanly possible- worst comes to worst they put 100usd pricetag on it just so it makes even more profit/pays for the delay- they will keep selling it for the next decade anyways so 100usd pricetag will be perfectly fine compared to games in 2035 anyways :p

We all gotta remember gta5 sold already over 210m copies, bilions of usd are at stake here.

Death Stranding 2 is June 26 so this gives me roughly 1 month to finish that game before jumping into beautiful Sicily.

lol it ain't getting delayed to September 2026. I see it as 60% October/November 2025 and 40% in Spring 2026.
 
Played through Mafia 3 again recently except I installed a mod to remove the grind. It's amazing how much more enjoyable it was, they had an absolute gem of a game that was completely destroyed by an half-assed gameplay loop created to bloat the playtime, what shame...
The story although a bit generic is very enjoyable, the acting in that game still beats most games coming out today. 10/10 on that front.

I think they learned their lesson with Mafia Remake and unless they actually put some effort into creating engaging gameplay activities for the open world, I hope they double down on it for this one and don't try to deviate much from the typical story focused Mafia style of gameplay.

Very keen for this! I've enjoyed all of the Mafia games, even Mafia III.

I dare say this will be day one for me.

When a year is stacked with releases like 2025 is, a summer date is a good way to get away from the other heavy hitters.

It's why Xbox, Nintendo, and Playstation used to do 'Summer of Indie' showcases. That was the small window of time that indie games used to have.
 
I much enjoyed the first and second game, hope it's more like those and less like the more recent game they put out which was trash.

Winter starts December 21st in the Northern Hemisphere.

They are almost certainly trying to hit at least November. Mafia isn't going to top charts for months or anything.

This Summer is looking absolutely stacked and I love it, Death Stranding 2, MindsEye, Ghost of Yotei, Mafia 4, MGS3, even if just half these games are good it'll still keep me plenty occupied until GTA 6 is released.

Kinda makes me wish we had gta games coming out every year to force companies to release more games during the Summer :messenger_tears_of_joy:
 
I agree on the notion of Mafia not really affecting GTA 6, should it release this year. The former releasing in August gives the latter plenty of time and space to rule over 202512, or Q4 basically. GTA 6 coming out in say, October or November, is perfect; that'll insure that it dominates the holiday season and even early 2026.

Mafia is big, but make no mistake, GTA 6 is the juggernaut of the two.

They would like to give Mafia a few months to make profit before releasing GTA VI that's for sure.

Truth. The remake is solid.

With KCD2, AC Shadows and this game....this year we eating good on open world games.

bitbydeath bitbydeath listen, GTA6 is a day 1 for a lot of us, I'm getting a PS5 Pro JUST for it and I want what ever collector's edition they have for it, but I'm starting to worry that its not making a 2025 release.

We would need to hear from em basically this month or next month to even be sure, if no trailer drops within theses 2 months, I think its safe to believe its delayed

I would hold off on that until we see some benchmarks. There's a good chance there will be negligable difference between Pro and base because of CPU bottlenecking.

With the release date being 3 months of the "main" gameplay and pre-orders starting, I think it's safe to assume if we don't get a 2nd trailer from GTA VI by October (for a December release) than it will miss this year.
