I bought an AD700 and I'm wondering what would be the best way to power them. It hasn't arrived (might take a month yet), but I'm debating if I should buy a Fiio 7 or just use my pc motherboard as my pc will be my only source. I have a Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5-B3 and it has a spdif output (and apparently, it uses Realtek ALC889 drivers), but I don't know if this will be enough.

from my experience a couple years ago, the AD700 sound like they have no bass unless you have a decent little amp to help them out.

FiiO E7 might be a good choice as it’s the amp/dac combo and it has bass boost options that don’t sound like crap.

If you want something a little cheaper, I recommend a cmoy amp for around 50 or 60 bucks.

onboard motherboard audio will make any good headphones sound flat. im not sure about the latest ones which claims to have xlarge capacitor etc, but the alc889 wont drive your ad700 musically where it should be.

oh great, release new ones as soon as i order my tma-1s. It's all good though, glad to see this company grow. Any ideas on the price point?

edit: from the link, it sounds like they are the next step or big brother to the 'tracks' rather than the tma-1. I guess maybe a sub $200 dollar price point?

If they compare favorably or better than the TMA-1s I will pick them up. I grabbed ATH-PRO700MK2s instead, and they are great, but too bulky for out and about use.

Edit: Maybe not, Ill probably order the TMA-1s next time i see them on sale, if ever...lol

I posted a couple pages back, but I ordered mine for 170 shipped if you want the URL. Best deal I could find.

My CC51Ps came in today. Sound so much better than the M31Ps that came in my M-What pack. I'm not a big bass guy, so I was sad to see the one I ended up getting. The smallest tips still aren't small enough for me though. They slip out if they wiggle too much, and they wiggle too much when I'm walking. I really wish my S4 double flange tiny tips could fit on these CC51s.

Also, those new Aiaiai headphones look really hot. Durability is a huge thing for me, so I might actually make my first real headphone purchase. I don't really like headphones because they get uncomfortable pressing against my glasses.

Wow those are crazy. It's funny because I actually thought those were mockups, and not the headphones themselves, but on closer look they are the real deal. I'm definitely interested to see how they will sound, but I seriously doubt they will beat the TMA's in sound quality.

I find the 889 drives even my K702 decently enough. I actually prefer it to my Maverick D1.

Also, keep in mind the 889 has EQ functionality, so you can up the bass frequencies a few dBs to add a bit of oomph if you so desire. I use the EQ to fix my Sennheiser PC360...lowered the mid-bass a bit.

Sexy, but they seem more as a step up from Tracks. Also, these seem more flashier than the more minamalistic TMAs. Still, its good to know the company doing good and making such unpredictable and "stand out" designs where everyone is copying beats. Hope the sound matches the looks.

Oh wow, just received my Audeo PFE 022's (=112 / 122 minus the accessories and black / grey audiofilters) and needless to say they are amazing. I had the AKG K330's and some Samsung crap before and the difference is so huge, i simply dont know what to say. Anyway, thanks for recommending the 112's in the first post.

Plugged in my ATH-M50 today and the left driver is not functioning. There was no noticeable problem with it before today, and now absolutely no sound comes from it. Right driver is functioning normally.

Can I get a warranty repair from Audio-Technica if I bought it through amazon about a year ago?

Hate how Fed Ex doesn't deliver early even though the package is already in town. Could've gotten my headphones yesterday.

Noob question but the ports of headphones has always confused me. I ordered a pair of ATH-AD700. If I want to use them to the fullest extent for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (laptop) what would I need to order with it? An amp?

Lol holy shit @ fedex.

Rumor has it that Aiaiai is also making an over ear version of the TMA-1 that'll be shown soon.

Fuckkk.. the hits keep on coming. Well if they sound better, Aiaiai has amazing customer service. I once read about a guy sending his tma-1s in for repair, offered to send money for an upgrade instead and Aiaiai agreed. He got the fools gold tma-1s in return.

Maybe holding out on the TMA-1 was a good move for me cause I would rather have an over ear version. Supposedly it'll be shown on Monday.

If your PC is going to be your only source and you don't need anything crazy either get a cheap sound card like the Xonar DG which runs sub $40 and has a built in headphone amp + dolby headphone if you ever wanted to use that.

If you go the FIIO router I see no reason why if you don't need the DAC the new FIIO E6 portable headphone amp wouldn't suffice. Then again I think the new E6 is perfectly fine for most people's needs if you just need a slight boost for your cans via an amp. E7 is obviously nicer, but the E6 is only $25 and has 2 bass boost options too.

I'm still sporting the banana hanger. Works great. My friends still question it, though.

"Is that... a banana hanger?"

"Yep..."

*awkward silence*

Bought the KNS-6400 headphones.

Holy shit. As a total headphone noob this is freaking amazing. Hearing things in my favorite songs I've never heard before.

Nice! Got the 8400 myself and yeah they're awesome headphones. Thanks to whoever recommended them in this thread. Exactly what I was looking for.

This is what I'm hoping for when I get my TMA-1's. Before them, I've never spent more than 30 bucks on headphones. Its like i'm deaf, and i'll be able to hear for the first time in just a few days. I'm excited to say the least.

I use those $15 Sennheiser headphone clamps. They work fine, and they don't take up any desk space because of how they work.

I used to have a banana hanger though. Now it has banana's hanging on it, which just seems so right.

Any good IEM's (for hip hop, electronic, and rock) that have controls for pausing/next track/previous and volume buttons on the cable?

Like the control talk cable from monster?

Yeah, me neither. And the ones I just got were only $79 so not really that much more. Amazing stuff.

I am looking for headphones around $50 I would prefer earbuds so I can wear a hat over them (its cold in Iowa!)

I plan on using them to walk with, on my droid listening to mostly podcasts. But in college I am also taking a "History of Jazz" class (all students must take a fine arts class) so I would like to be able to listen to my school work (we have to identify songs for the final and so on)

I am also looking for something with a durable cord!

Thanks!

I got a pair of Studio Beats for Christmas but returned them because of all I've heard regarding them being overpriced. I'm looking at other headphones that are cheaper than the Beats but just as good or better. Do the M50's compete? They're only $136 on Amazon right now. I mostly listen to rap music, but mix in all other genres. Also would be used for watching movies/shows on my computer.

M50s don't have that subwoofer Bass you're looking for, the HFI-580 would be a good pick if you can get over the clamping force or the M-Audio Q40, but you're gonna need at least a small amp with the Q40.
