I actually really like Don Cheadle as Rhodey. I mean, Tony seems like a really hard guy to like and be friends with, yet Rhodey puts up with his shit, and will back him when he needs it. The way Cheadle plays Rhodey is fine, and I think him and RDJ work well together from the bits of screen time they've shared. Howard was definitely great as Rhodey, but I think Cheadle holds the roll down well.
I loved AntMan, but personally, it felt like the movie was about Hope and Hank, with Scott shoehorned uncomfortably into her story arc because, well, it's called AntMan.
I'd have loved it of the movie was called "AntMan and Wasp," and had Hope get the suit in the final act and helped Scott take on Yellow Jacket. It could have been a nice parallel to Hank and Janet's scene, with Janet going to the microverse, with Scott going there instead. It felt like we got part of Hope's story arc, and I found her much more interesting than Scott, who was standard make protagonist in a superhero movie #100. And I LIKE Rudd.
The movie felt like it missed a lot of cool opportunities with the characters, but played it safe. I enjoyed Scott's team the most, but I thought everybody was great. I just want to see Wasp kicking ass already!
Really looking forward to seeing more of these characters in future MCU stuff though.
