Ant-Man |Spoiler Thread| I Think Our First Move Should Be Calling The Avengers

I believe Banner is in there as well, especially after the whole Intelligencia thing. As for labelling him, guess he's Marvel's physicist?

although i guess ranking intelligences is always complicated because everyone has their own specialty and various fields that they excel at

i feel like Reed and Doom are the only 2 marvel characters that you can pretty much say are the 2 smartest humans in the marvel universe

so if you had to rate their intelligences among characters

Reed is the smartest man, numero uno

Black Panther is the greatest polymath

Pym is the greatest pure scientist

Tony is the greatest pure engineer

would that be somewhat accurate

I'm so glad there isn't actually shit like this in the movies. Also, no Reed in the MCU.

Going back to the thing about Hydra on the other page, it doesn't seem like they actually have anything other than a vial of Cross's Pymitation particles, which they won't be able to replicate. Otherwise, they wouldn't have had to go back to Cross for the fuel and he would've had just given everything away. Maybe they could figure it out 10-15 years down the line like how SHIELD tried and Cross eventually did, but that's beyond the scope of anything going on even in the distant MCU future.

- Some impressive CGI going around. In the first scene where Douglas is like 26 years younger, it shows! Damn. I thought I was watching 1980-ish movie with Douglas. On the other hand, Peggy looked far too young for someone in her seventies. Kinda bugged me. (Pun intended)
Just a side note because I see a lot of people call the age thing out, but Peyton Reed mentioned in that Empire spoiler cast that Peggy is about 65ish in that scene. I don't know if that math lines up with previous continuity (I assume it doesn't since so many people mention it), but that's why she looks younger than 70s.

do you guys think Tony is aware of Hank in the MCU and the pym particle

i mean if Howard knew about it then i assume Tony might know about it

i hope we get to see more of Michael Douglas and Hank Pym in the MCU it would be cool if he made an appearance in Civil War....i remember Selvig is actually a friend of his

He's absolutely alive. He was networked in some capacity because he had access to information outside that bunker in regards to Hydra, Steve, Howard Stark, Bucky etc. his network was a way out/way to back up his consciousness.

Anyone else disappointed that Zola didn't play a role in Age of Ultron? I really thought Project Insight would play a huge role in Ultron's creation.

I honestly expected them to kill Hank. The fact that he lived and they gave him a new purpose in learning more about the Quantum Realm seems to say that Michael Douglas is open to more appearances

The only time Cheadle has ever worked for me as Rhodey was in Age of Ultron actually.

Funny enough I felt the same way.

I like Cheadle a lot, and I give credit to Whedon for realizing the dude can be funny, too, whether he recognized it or not through giving everyone his trademark Whedon snarkiness.

I actually really like Don Cheadle as Rhodey. I mean, Tony seems like a really hard guy to like and be friends with, yet Rhodey puts up with his shit, and will back him when he needs it. The way Cheadle plays Rhodey is fine, and I think him and RDJ work well together from the bits of screen time they've shared. Howard was definitely great as Rhodey, but I think Cheadle holds the roll down well.

I loved AntMan, but personally, it felt like the movie was about Hope and Hank, with Scott shoehorned uncomfortably into her story arc because, well, it's called AntMan.

I'd have loved it of the movie was called "AntMan and Wasp," and had Hope get the suit in the final act and helped Scott take on Yellow Jacket. It could have been a nice parallel to Hank and Janet's scene, with Janet going to the microverse, with Scott going there instead. It felt like we got part of Hope's story arc, and I found her much more interesting than Scott, who was standard make protagonist in a superhero movie #100. And I LIKE Rudd.

The movie felt like it missed a lot of cool opportunities with the characters, but played it safe. I enjoyed Scott's team the most, but I thought everybody was great. I just want to see Wasp kicking ass already!

Really looking forward to seeing more of these characters in future MCU stuff though.

I thought Cheadle really shined in Iron Man 3. Everything with him trying to act like Iron Patriot was a cool name was great. And I loved that bit with him trying to teach Tony how to shoot a gun.

Nah, if they had done that Hank would have had to come to terms with his wifes death and let his daughter be badass. One of the main characters may have had an arc.

It's a little trivial but I find it weird that the antman blew everything up, yet told the falcon that he will return the device to the Avengers facility in the earlier part of the movie. Or maybe he was lying to falcon

so is the Pym Particle really the most revolutionary science in the MCU as of right now

does this make Hank the number one scientist in MCU

i mean is it greater, scientifically than Ultron, Zola's Algorithm, super soldier serum etc and other scientific work in the MCU

He laughs at the Iron Man suit.

I have no doubt Tony could build a defense to pym particles if he had a sample but going in blind, Ant-Man would wreck him.

You know what...

I LOVED THIS MOVIE.

It has it almost all I want for Marvel, good protagonist, strong cast (they stole the show really), most importantly LOW STAKES, if anything they should go smaller and smaller, inobtrusive world buding, a good third act, non hammy dialogue (it was funny, but the tone worked). This is the anti Guardians for me, it feels just right even if I don't know why.

Villain was again shit tho, goddamn marvel, and then you ask why everybody thinks your competition blows you out in this. It really doesn't, but you're not making yourselves any favors.

7/10 would watch again.

Lol. True. We can't have that!

It just really felt like it was Hope's story, but the studio really wanted to push the AntMan angle. I think it was missed opportunity in earlier MCU movies to seed Hank and AntMan as a myth/legend internally at S.H.E.I.L.D, but we don't get him in action until this movie. We could have had Hope also introduced as a bit character in the previous MCU movies as well. Even a mention or a cameo.

Even so, I really enjoyed AntMan, these are just some disappointments I had with it. It's a fun, entertaining movie with a great cast. I want to see more of them.

nah, Falcon can track Ant-Man just fine using only his goggles, I have no doubt IronMan have way better tracking tech than Falcon, and IronMan also had weapons with lock-on targeting system so no need to manually aiming like Falcon did wth his smg. his suit are also made from titanium I think, so Antman is not getting inside easily.

the only question is whether the shrinking disc will kill IronMan or just shrink him, if it just shrink IronMan, that will only make Ironman even more dangerous, can't see AntMan beating him in that case.

Anyone know what the single frame was when Scott was going subatomic? Almost looked like a giant laying down or it's side or something.

I can't really tell based on that picture lol. I think? Gonna have to wait for the blu ray

That reminds me, the use of the cutest lambs possible for the experiments was completely twisted, unnecessary, and hilarious. Especially that close up shot of the lamb's face right before it gets gooed. Like, he might as well have used Gerber babies.
I was the only one in my theater who laughed at this. What a great camera shot.

Thanks for the outline, I think that was it. Real interesting stuff, I think the subatomic universe has some great potential.

it would be funny in civil war..if their is a scene where Scott throws a shrink disk at Iron Man and it somehow shrinks both cap and tony..

so cap and tony are fighting ant-size...that would be hilarious

Hmm. Perhaps you're right. Though if Hank finds a way to go subatomic without entering the quantum realm, that'd pose some serious problems for Tony.

Everytime I think of the de-aged Michael Douglas I get chills. That was the first time in a while that I've been floored by an effect. I just had a stupid grin on my face and felt the movie magic. It was literally magical to me.

Not to shitting on Hank, but the Scientist Supreme stuff always came off really stupid for me.

Why? Hanks title of Scientist Supreme makes sense given the types of science he pursues and ways he works.

Reed is the Explorer. Going where no one as ever even thought of going before.
Tony is the Engineer. Building tomorrow.
Hank is the Mage. Taking Science to the point of magic.

On topic. I finally got to see this today after having managed to remain spoiler free. Ant Man is now my new favorite Marvel U movie.
