What a great, great movie. Best movie in the MCU. Ant-Man is officially my fave superhero now. He's fucking legit.

- Great cast. Rudd, Lilly, and Douglas nail their roles. Rudd is charming as fuck. Corey Stoll plays a great villain. Michael Pena and the two other heist crew members were awesome. Pena stole the show.

- Stoll's a pretty good villain. I wish we saw more with him. I love that he's a twisted, insane fuck with daddy issues. He has a madness that we didn't see any other MCU villains to date. It makes him stand out. Him murdering the investor in the beginning was twisted. His scene with Cassie where he asks if he looks like a monster was pretty chilling. Like, the dude is just fucking gone and constantly on the verge of snapping.

- The action was fantastic. I liked it better than anything else in the MCU cause it just felt so different. Loved how the shrinking scenes were shot, what the world looks like when it's small, the use of ants, the Quantum Microverse, all so fucking cool. Costume design was also on point.

- Fight with Falcon was hilarious and felt like it integrated really well. I love that it feels like part of a cohesive universe, but it is it's own thing. I want to spend more time with Lang and Co. They have more fun.

News travels fast when your former mentor is connected to an imprisoned man that suddenly disappears out of nowhere.

But how would he have had access to that information?
There's no scene of the police asking him if he knows of any connection between Pym and Scott.

Don't forget Cross was in Pym's house for God knows how long when hank, Hope and Scott were discussing their plan. He could have been eavesdropping.

I have a question about the crazy ants. They were supposed to be able to conduct electricity, and in real life apparently they're attracted to electricity and can mass together to short things out.

In the movie, it seemed like Ant-Man was handing out some tiny package to each ant. Maybe that was the explosives? When he told them to short out the servers though, instead of suicidally cutting across circuits, it looked like they all had some little copper ball hovering over their head conducting lightning. Did anyone catch what was happening?
Quoting just in case someone caught this scene and saw what happened.

So sorry if this had been discussed but something stuck out in the movie tonight. If Hank's Ant Man had been involved in military action back in the 80's, how is it that it has never come up before? SHIELD never talked about it and neither did any of the solo or Avenger movies? I'd think this would have been something heavily talked about.

My initial guess is that they covered it with the "it was a myth" talk but if SHIELD knew about it, how come Coulson and Fury didn't seem to know/care about it?

The beginning of the film Howard Stark makes it clear to that guy who get his face busted that Pym is better off being left alone than against them. So that's probably what S.H.I.E.L.D did just gave him a wide berth.

Although if HYDRA had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D for many years definitely during Ant Mans time in action who knew what and when? hmmmm

I enjoyed this, moreso than most MCU movies. Great tone, acting, dialogue, action, and characters. My only criticism is it felt like it dragged in the middle a smidgeon, but that could be because the pacing in the first and third acts was pretty brisk.

Up there with the first Iron Man and GotG in terms of enjoyment for me (I have found most of the rest of the MCU pretty average films).

This was about on par with iron man 2. Decent, not great, kinda by the books (no pun intended). No where near as good as guardians.

Iron Man 2 is the worst MCU movie ever, so that's some real shade haha. Opinions and all but this was a way better movie than Guardians.

And it will hold up better to multiple viewings something that Guardians for me at least has displayed it can't.

You spelt Thor 2 wrong.

"Do I look like a monster?"

Yeah. Cross was legit. Definitely outclassed the majority of MCU villains (save Loki and maybe Ultron).

I kinda wish we got more scenes with him. But yeah, he's definitely intense, and creepy, and warped. His final fate was satisfying to see. It's like, they looked at Iron Man's corporate villains and thought "Hey, what if we take this corporate douchebag, and actually make him a frightening and unbalanced person."

Eh... I wouldn't put him in the same class as Fisk as Fisk himeslf was in a league of his own. But, he definitely creeped me out more than that Ultron facsimile.

My bad, I was referring to the film villains only. Fisk is definitely the best villain in the entirety of the MCU to date, but he benefits from 13 hours whereas most film villains only have a couple of hours of development.

The more I think about it, the more I think Cross was a better villain than Ultron (but Ultron's performance was phenomenal).

Yeah, I understand. Ultron's performance was good but to me he was a crazy HAL9000 with a creepy personality, and I wanted to see more of his psychological problems. To see more of his personal turmoil but it fell short.

Can't wait to see this next week.

Saw it today, and I unexpectedly enjoyed the movie. Found it to be a hella lot better than Avengers 2.

Michael Peña, and Paul Rudd is ace. And they presented their villain a lot more better than most MCU villains.

Only thing I'm kinda disappointed with is that, Edger Wright didn't direct it and that there's no plans for Ant-Man 2 as of yet. I'm already expecting that they'll probably push their stories (like Wasp) into Avengers movies instead, considering their line up for phase 3 is on lock already.

Dafuq is going on here? Seriously?

So Ant-Man broke into the avengers place and the only one that came after him was Falacon where was everyone else I would of been ok if two avengers were in that fight scene

I guess it goes without saying that Janet will be brought back by Yellowjacket in either Civil War or a possible Ant-Man sequel.

One of the best Phase 2 movies. May be second only to Winter Soldier.
Hank Pym was handled very well, but the big bad is basically Obadiah Stone reskinned. I want to see Douglas bantering with Downey Jr, in the next films.

And a moment of silent for Anthony, please. :(

Definitely. The fact that when Hank looks at a photo of his family and Janet's face is covered by an enormous hat (so they can cast in the future) gives the impression that at the very least they want a Janet return possible in the future.

Michael Douglas is so good as Pym. Thank god they didn't kill him off. And I hope he's a regular in MCU now. With cameo appearance here and there.

Do movies usually release that late? Because that's kind of bullshit.

No, usually we get them day and date with the rest of the world. For example I saw Age of Ultron on April 30th. There must be some sort of logistical reason behind the delay, maybe it's the distribution company's choice, they don't think it will be that popular and it's cheaper if you get it later? Who knows. Reading that the movie is so fun makes the wait even harder, but at least I know I have something cool to look forward to!

it's a bunch of malakia.

But it's totally worth the wait.
also seems weird to leave it till after holidays but whatevs.

Yeah, you'd think that with so many tourists in the country the theaters would love to get a potential blockbuster as soon as possible. Weird indeed.

Now you are making me feel bad for watching 2 days ago =/

Don't, reading all the positive impressions makes me glad that the movie turned out that good. As I said, something to look forward!

If you haven't seen the movie, why are you in spoiler thread? Might want to get out now.

Not even my man Sam could save IM2

I'd love to see a scene with him and Tony Stark.

I would have thought the Vison would be the one left to do security sweeps, but the film would have been over then and there if it was him against Ant Man.

California here, and my audience loved both scenes. I especially got a kick out of The Cure reference. Was not expecting that, so we'll done!

I also liked the beginning when Cross was talking about the tech, and he was like, "A guy who can shrink to the size of an ant? Astonishing Tales." This was so neat because his first appearance was in Tales to Astonish I believe?

By the way, who else agrees that this is probably the best third act in an MCU movie?
*raises hand*

Well considering it's the only third act that hasn't involved something falling on a city from the sky in many years - that's not too hard.

I like Avengers 1 and Iron Man 3's third acts, the problem was Kevin Feige forgot there were other ways to end a movie so they just repeated that for the next four films...
