For those on the verge of buying some sort of Apple product, here's a useful site. It's the MacRumors Buyer's Guide.

I wonder if the new iMacs will feature touch screens.

Gimme some Yosemite.

It might end up being the last OS X update for this warhorse, depending on my finances next year :(

I think it’ll be less. I don’t think it’ll be double the cost of the most expensive current 27" iMac.

I’m hoping for around $2500 or less but I wouldn’t be surprised if it started at $3000

Oh yeah, I guess I'm thinking of a maxed out one. Base 27" model for 2.8-3k maybe.

In all seriousness though, I kinda hope that the iPad gets the iPhone's camera features: focus pixels, 240fps, OIS. And maybe even get flash this time around too? Including the iPad mini.

I'm the odd one who cares about that, but whatevs.

Yes! Can't wait for Yosemite. Also very curious to see how expensive a Retina iMac will be. Probably around 4k I'd guess.

they shouldn't do 4k! Instead they should make the form factor 34-inch in 21:9 cinema landscape mode. that's almost two 27-inch monitors side by side. you get more room dispensing heat and more powerful components more evenly spread out through the chassis. could be an excellent product.

I've been saving for an iMac nearly a year now, but I don't know if I'll bite if the only upgrade is a retina display. I've been waiting for new CPUs.

nah. If Apple were to ever make a hybrid touch/mouse pointer device (and it doesn’t look like they will in the next few years, at least) it’d debut on a laptop form, not desktop.

if they get it below 3k, I’m there day one :) otherwise I wait for refurbs...

When is the last time Apple held an event on a Thursday? They almost always hold these things on a Tuesday, which is why the longstanding rumor of October 21 for iPad event seems more likely.

Guess we'll just have to wait for Apple to send out the invites.

Hopefully they do some pricing changes. I've got a 1st gen iPad that I'm chompin at the bit to replace but I haven't been able to decide on what to replace it with. You get a lot of hardware it seems with $99 Kindle Fire 6, even more probably in the next $200 android nexus tablet but I'd like to stick with apple since I already have apps and such on my old iPad but browsing speed and price are the top concerns for me atm.

$250-300 iPad mini 32gb without retina but the same speedy hardware as whatever the next new model is would be pretty great. Don't get me wrong those retina displays are pretty but 1920x1080 or even 1280x800 ain't too bad on a small screen.

Hybrid Macbook Air / iPad. Screen flips and folds down to use it like a tablet open it back up for laptop use. /drool.

You sure he has the "last one" and not the 2nd generation? I had two 2nd-gen Apple TVs and ran into that same problem - would randomly stop streaming and required reboots. I bought 3rd gens last month to replace them and it's been great. The 2nd gen, since it can be jailbroken and 3rd gen can't, gets almost double its original MSRP on ebay.

Even though I have the 3rd gen I'd still also like to see something new with the Apple TV. :D

That's a definite possibility. Haven't looked at the exact model, I just know she's had it for 1-2 years.

I should actually look into Jailbreaking just to see if we can't get it working better.

You always think Apple can't go even thinner, and then they do.

Rumors banded about of a screen upgrade to 'retina' 5120 x 2880.
Hope they can run that res smoothly.

I am going to buy it anyways as I need a new desktop but if they give it a decent graphic card that can easily output at that res I am going to be very happy this winter.

Any other rumors for iPad upgrades other than the fingerprint scanner? From what I read this seems like an incremental update.

Well, there was some speculation about that split-screen multitasking feature being either exclusive to these (presumably) 2GB RAM-outfitted iPads, or it simply getting announced alongside them, I reckon.

Could fit into one of those 8.2/8.3 iOS updates, I guess, but I'd think it seems a significant enough software feature to get some keynote time.

Hope they can run that res smoothly.

I'm pretty curious about that performance aspect as well. I have a feeling it might not be an issue though, for UI performance anyway, if they simply re-used the GPU of the previous high-end 27" iMac?

With ~1500 PassMarks driving a 5.1 MP UI in the Retina Macbook 15", maybe the ~4300 PassMarks of that 2013 27" iMac GPU would be enough to drive the speculated 14.7 MP UI here? (2.86x benchmark score increase, vs. 2.88x pixel count increase.)

Note I have absolutely no clue how useful (or real-world) these PassMark scores actually are, lol.

Not sure how Apple could implement split-screen multitasking in iOS given the standard swipe-from-the-bezel forward/back gestures. Without having it suck, I mean.

Gimme some Yosemite.

Same here. I'm on the Yosemite Public Beta. And it does run absolutely fine on my Late 2009 iMac 27". But I can't AirDrop to compatible iOS devices. I reckon next years OS X release could alienate my Mac even more. I could keep on using it through to 2016, providing it lasts that long, and just leave it on Yosemite.

Looks like I will skipping this iPad upgrade. After the Plus, I dont really need the Air much and my wife is perfectly happy with the Air which functions even better on iOS 8. I dont expect anything beyond touchid, camera upgrade and cpu/gpu bump.

i hope the new ipad is not as hideous as the iphone 6

i'd love to upgrade from my ipad1

Anything would be an improvement over the iPad Mini's edges around the screen.

Not sure if it's just mine, but there's a pretty large gap around my screen and the metal that collects gunk really easily (dust mainly) and it also feels uncomfortably sharp. Not sharp enough to cut or anything, it just doesn't feel good if you're swiping the screen or holding your thumb there.

I also hope there's a new mini at this as well as iMacs. I have money to throw at them and need to decide between both to replace my long aged 2010 mini server that is so slow. Sooooo slooooooow. You don't even know how slow.

I just wish they'd put at least 7200RPM HDDs in all models. I'm pretty sure part of the problem is the terrible 5200's they use. (Or is the 2010 mini a 4200? Back when I had a 2005 mini, I had to boot off FireWire because the internal HDD was so slow. I wore the FireWire port out on that machine.) I'd prefer SSD as a cheaper option but might just spring for the base SSD option they offer for whichever model I get. Might as well just skip over the HDD all together.

Come on, October 16th!

Normally a new iPad mini would interest me, but I am thinking of just getting a 6+ to replace both but can't do it until Virgin makes them available. For now my original generation non-Retina mini will hold me. Especially since I really only use it for video anymore.

WOW spoilerz dude

will trade my 13" MBPretina for iPad Pro + Mac mini + Apple Cinema Display cheaper korean 4K monitor

The 13" Retina MBP would be the perfect product if it had a 2880x1800 screen and Iris Pro graphics.

As it is, I'm going to be going back to a 15" MBP with Skylake, just because I need more screen real-estate (and I don't want to do non-2x scaling).

It would be really nice if they started to work on some iPad-centric UI and functionality optimizations with one of the next few updates. It's really long overdue, and I could argue that many such optimizations would also have a home on the 6 Plus as well.

New iLife updates could be interesting. They haven't done anything interesting with iLife in ages. (Rewrites for a few, I suppose, but really nothing to enhance or add to the "The Mac contains everything you need right out of the box!" experience at the end of the day).

I could be tempted to sell my MBPr 13" and pick up a 27" iMac instead. I was waiting to upgrade my iPad 3 to the iPad Air 2 as well but ended up moving to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 instead.

iMovie will probably get an update to support the retina macs, iPhoto is pretty much dead, not sure what else they can do with GarageBand

iPhoto as it is is EOL right now until they finish Photos for Mac. I wish they'd finish it sooner than later.

iPhoto was designed for the plug and play generation of devices. Now we're in the cloud generation so a redesign was inevitable. I can't wait.

It's a shame that it's rumored that the 12" rMBA has been delayed to 2015 (thanks Intel!). I love of 13" rMBP but I would upgrade to that in heartbeat if they could get the weight down to around/under 2lbs.

fucking hell I just upgraded from an iPad 1 to an Air
Assuming you're not trolling, your Air is perfectly fine. If you got the Retina you're gonna be set for a while. If you got a non-Retina you werent really looking for the latest model anyway.

Also what the above person said. Every October like clockwork. Every October. iOS devices don't change dates anymore.

How does one get a non-Retina iPad Air, Abed?

j/k m8. It doesn't exist. You were probably thinking about the mini?

Yayyyyyy time to upgrade my iPad 4 (although it is working fine). Figure why not since it's basically my main computer. Crazy that I made fun of iPads when they first came out.

I've also never owned an Apple TV and I've always wanted one, so if there is a new one I'll get that too.

Does Apple usually do preorders like they do with iPhones? Like the whole go live at midnight type thing?
