If the rumors about the ram end up being true, I'm going from iPad 3 to a Gold iPad Air 2. I'm not sure about the GB yet. If 32 is the minimum, I can go with that. If it's 16 and the next jump is 64, I'm going with 64.

I think 2GB will end up true, recent talks is that Apple skipped it for this iPhone because of supply constraints.

Only just got my Mini+Retina.

For a few days I can have that supreme feel.

No new MBA's? They need to release the long-rumored Retina ones already
so I can buy an old model on fire sale.

Unless you PIN lock your iPad and really, really want Touch ID, I can't imagine these new models will make you too envious.

I'm looking forward to the new iPad Mini. I currently have an iPad 3 and while I love it, I think the Mini is the perfect size tablet for me.

Does anyone have experience with a ClamCase? I would like to have a good keyboard case whenever the iPad Air 2 start getting some and came across them. Quite expensive though.

iPad eh. I'm waiting to see a 6+ in person so I can decide whether to dump my iPad which I only use for video anyway.

I'm more looking forward to iMacs and hopefully Mac minis so I can choose between them for use as a server. (Leaning towards iMac right now.)

Also curious about this. Have never owned an iPad (or any tablet before) and am looking to buy one. The new Air seems like a good choice to get but would definitely be looking to get a keyboard case for it and have no idea whats good.

The tag line on the invite is

It's been way too long.

WTF can that be? Mac Mini update? the Apple TV update finally?

Apple have been selling the current Apple TV in the UK at £79 including a £25 iTunes gift card. It's a good deal. Almost as if they're selling them off.

Yeah, they have to update it, especially if it will be the central HomeKit product in the house and have Siri Integration built in perhaps.

Also if the Mac Mini's are updated, perhaps they are all being assembled in Texas like the Mac Pros and therefore it can be a secret on what the new look will be.

If these come out close to the Oct. 16 date, that works out perfectly. I was already planning on getting mom a new iMac for her retirement at the end of the month, and getting a newly refreshed system would be awesome.

Are there any rumors on what a potential mac mini upgrade would entail? I hope it'll have enough hamsters to serve as a media PC for a 4k tv. My 2010 mac mini is fine for 1080p but I seriously doubt it could handle 4k.

I'm not entirely sure that Apple are gonna fuck with 4K on a mass scale just yet. Mac Pro only. As far as I know, there's still no 4K content on iTunes (please correct me if I'm wrong) and none of the camera's in their devices can capture video at 4K (iPhone primarily).

Of course, with the release of the Retina iMac 27" that all changes and brings it within reasonable grasp of consumers.

Hopefully Apple releases an iPad with Yosemite on there. Cause unless they do that, their iPad division will just keep henmoraging money. There are just better options these days, unfortunately.

Multitasking would help too. OS X/multitasking or the iPad will remain useless.

I know it's a long shot but I wish they'd go back to putting 5 USB ports on either the iMac or Mac mini. I'm this close to not needing a hub anymore. I'm in the middle of getting from 6 drives to 4 but still have a backup drive I need. So I need a 5th port so I don't have to keep a hub just for one drive. (Which would end up being for 2 drives because it would have to plug in where one of the others is.) I can dump this 7 port USB2 hub I've had forever and have all my USB3 drives connected directly to the machine with no middleman.

They probably won't though. They could on the mini if they dump FireWire 800. (I mean let's face it. They're not going to keep it on the mini. They dropped it from the iMac. I bet it'll disappear.)

Alternatively I guess I could find a simple Thunderbolt to USB3 adapter just for that one drive. Do those exist and are they cheap? Or at least affordable?

Joke post?

I think it'd be neat if they added a budget version of the mini that had a 5C-like design with colored plastic in the same colors.

I almost wish they sold the 6+ in a 5C design. I love the look of my white 5C. I would go so far as to say I like it better than my white 4S.

Hemorrhaging money? Apple's still making bank on iPads. I personally don't want Yosemite on the iPad, makes no sense in that form factor. I just want them to add more ram and add strong multi-window multitasking to the OS.

I remember when I like you.

Hope they stop selling the original iPad mini, really outdated device. Although, there's been rumors of no change to the mini this year, so maybe it stays the same.

My ipad3 is still going strong but wouldn't mind upgrading it (finally) so we'll see what's being offered this time around

Yeah I'm in same boat. Kinda hard to figure out what I want to do though because if I get the 6+ next year I know it'll replace a lot of my tablet usage and then only real reason I wanna upgrade the iPad 3 is because of the weight. Otherwise it still works fine and as a mini TV screen (which will be an iPads post 6+ fate for me) the weight isn't an issue.

My clam case for the mini has been solid.

- good typing
- no escape or option key so using terminal editors like vim and emacs are a pain (maybe mini only)
- it is VERY heavy. Almost as much as the iPad
- they had a security breach and leaked my credit card

I'd absolutely love this. iPad Air in Grey/Silver/Gold and iPad mini in the 5C plastic spectrum. I'd buy one in a heartbeat

I'm going to take a wild guess and say Apple are unveiling a new Macintosh to run along-side or perhaps even replace Mini.

It's pretty obvious that they are talking about the charger cable. They are going to make it shorter.
I lold at this

Edit. Cool if iPads come in gold but the 5S gold color is superior to the 6.
Also wish space gray was touch darker (don't know if that changed from the 5S but upgrading from a 5 space gray may as well be silver :p)

"Apple has plans to offer a live stream of its October 16 event, according to a source that spoke to MacRumors. As with its September 9 iPhone event, Apple will likely offer a stream of the event both on its website and through a dedicated channel on the Apple TV. "

I'm looking forward to finding out about their tv truck schedule. I also enjoyed the challenging music with a bizarre time signature.

Hopefully whoever was responsible for the last stream isn't around anymore, that wackiness was close to sabotage level.

They probably will. If they do release a new iPad Mini Retina 2, the first gen retina one will probably be streamlined into a 16GB only model and take the place of the original iPad Mini.

Same with the iPad Air line. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they stopped selling the iPad 4 as the cheap model and replaced it with the original Air.
