Been playing AC:B on PS3 today. Man the tearing when you outdoors is just soo bad :(

Maybe I will just buy a PC and play AC3 on PC instead. I really don't want to experience the new game with so much tearing. Early footage of PS3 did look better than previous entries as far as tearing is concerned ....

I initially really, really hated how slow the game starts off, but the pay-off at the turning point when shit really starts was pure gold.

Yes... this is what I was saying earlier. People really need to get into the game a bit before it opens up and becomes just awesome. To me it felt like..."ok we know we have been holding your hand and getting you up to speed. NOW BE FREE!"

Can I ask you a minor gameplay question about
convoys
though? I can't figure it out.
I failed to rescue one sending a shipment of mine, now it says I have no convoys and I don't know how to get more. Any ideas?

Finally got shipping confirmation from Ubiworkshop, tracking number doesn't yet show up in UPS's system though. Hope we don't have to wait too long.

I'm completely clueless on pretty much all of the supplemental economic gameplay aspects haha, haven't spent time with them yet. Doing most of the side-mission stuff.

It really is terrible. And it's not just the tearing, the framerate and texture load-ins are all over the place. I picked it up off PSN for only $12 this summer, so I wasn't that concerned, but it was one of those games that really stood out to me as pushing the current hardware to the edge.

I know I haven't played the game, and people keep complaining about a slow start, but what's wrong with that? I mean, FF13 obviously went full retard with slow starts, but isn't there something to be said for a nice even pace forward as you get your bearings?

Honestly in my opinion. Nothing. I just think alot of impatient people and gamers that are more into wanting to get to the meat and potatoes of the AC gameplay are going to have issues with it. Hell I can even see some gamers not making it to the really good stuff and that will be a shame. :(

Np problem man. I have been too. Just it's annoying me cause I want to start earning some more money and get some boat upgrades. They are pretty expensive and selling wolf pelts isn't cutting it lol.

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.

I like the game start. It's different. It's really great set up and gives you perspective for the rest of the game. Plus, it isn't burdened with heavy tutorial really... by 'slow start,' it's more like a hand-held, guided narrative structure than 'this is how you do this, press A to jump' kind of thing.

I agree completely. I feel the story will hopefully have a better pay off BECAUSE of this build up. I loved the setup of it all. Excited to see more but these side quests have me by my balls!

Wow I just received an e-mail that my pre-order is canceled due to some massive stock problems over at the distributor.

Fuck this.

Some people say it is a slow start. I didn't. I actually thought it was genius. God, can't wait till we can all talk about it after everyone gets the game.

Dialogue is so awful. Really terribly edited trailer.

"Awful dialog" says the person with a Metal Gear Rising avatar. Hahaha!! I mean, I love that too but come on now...

Except you know, theyre teaching you to tear down wanted posters and tail guys halfway through the game...
The best stuff in the game is the naval combat, bar none. The hunting is cool but completely pointless.

My copy shipped, and it would be here tomorrow... except I had my adress set as my hometown adress on Newegg when I pre-ordered, so it's not coming to me ;_; I'll have to wait until later this week, or the weekend. Sigh.

Well you'd be right I'm guessing, if your only doing the main missions. I'm still on seqeunce 6 and with 10 hours logged in and 6 more sequences to go. I don't see any issue with this. It's not like the game hasn't been fun, exciting, and entertaining simple because they are still teaching me things. So what's the problem?

*edit* Also is it sad that the
underground tunnels
have more atmosphere behind them then most games these days? I swear I kept thinking some evil monster was going to be just around the corner multiple times. Mostly due to the lower light and sound. I had to keep reminding myself... nope this is a AC game. LOL

There's 0% tearing. Framerate seems worse at times tho, there obviously doin an entire different approach.

Am I crazy or is this really the first game where they went the extra mile and made the eyes gleam?
Can't think of any other game at the top of my head.

Game so far is good, yes there is a slow build up but that's because the game doesn't start the way you imagined it to start, it's interesting enough.

What are they used for?

Also, fight club is the best track in the game. It makes me want to start sword fighting somebody.

I know this is semi off topic but I just finished AC:B on ps3 and noticed I didn't recieve the last 4 trophies. Anyone know a way to get them other than replaying the entire game? I tried to just replay the last memory in the sequence hoping it would pop but that didn't work. Also tried deleting my game install and reinstalled it. Nothing... Any help would be nice. I know they are just trophies but I kinda want them since I earned them.

Does this game require a code to play multiplayer again? I'll be using my roommates copy for a while

Yes, all new copies will come with the 'Uplay Passport' aka an online pass.

If you don't have the online pass, you're able to play the multiplayer but once you get past level 10 you won't be able to purchase abilities, perks, streaks and items.

Well... they are used to get fast travel access points through the city. Which I originally thought was sort of pointless but the city is rather large and I decided to knock them all out. It was pretty cool because
there are 10 exits and each one requires you to find it and solve either a puzzles with symbols, puzzle with doors, or platforming to get to the door exits. Once you exit one of them, you get a new fast travel on the map.

I know everyone in this thread right now is probably super stoked about their Xbox 360 or PS3 versions arriving.

I'm wondering though, is anyone else here besides me getting the Wii U version of this? I'm in no rush to start playing this, because I'm still working on some other games, and I figure it'd be another cool title to have along with my Wii U when I get it at launch. I'm just wondering if there will be any GAF community online the Wii U version to play online with.

I wonder if the reviews will reflect that day 1 patch I had to donwload.
I also wonder what was IN the patch, heh

Well, that worked out. I found a copy at a small game store. Installing it right now.
The first place I went, I could see people coming out of the store with copies but when I asked if they had any he got mad and said he could be fined 200k and asked me to leave. Maybe I just look like a cop :p but his reaction was very intense. The second place said they had it that was that.

Game is soooo amazing so far. I'm 2 1/2 hours in and everything was stunning. (The intro, the
ship
, Boston itself)
If you are able to : play in stereoscopic 3D, the 3D effect is good and the lower resolution blurs out low resolution textures in the distance - the whole game becomes more immersive with this imho.

Graphics itself reach from very good to meh.

Playing on 360 here.

Oh wow, I just *spoilers*
got to New York and did the whole jail sequence
and totally forgot the tutorial portion showed me that earlier on! I've been irked this whole time that there weren't enough fast travel locations...aaaand now I feel like a moron haha! Oh well, glad to hear they're fun!

Hey, so to anyone else playing this...are there untold levels of jank/lack of polish in this for you too? Everything so far hasn't felt as fluid as before (except for the awesome-to-look-at tree running, which funny enough is too fluid and I feel like all I'm doing is holding Up+RT and not even participating)...sometimes I can't rip off the wanted posters from the wall for some reason, or "counter" icons won't appear properly in combat, and I've noticed I can never just get into a cart of hay. It always sort of leaps on top of it, then falls into it? Basically always gets me spotted if I'm ever trying to use it, and other similar things where it seems like the collision is messed up like air assassinating. For example, if I try to air assassinate someone on the back of a horse, it would sort of bounce off the dude's head and then kinda slink on top of him? I guess in that example it works just as well, just looks super tacky. And mass numbers of people disappearing randomly from the picture, particularly if I'm walking over a hilly area.

And (silly complaint incoming!) why does my gun take so long to reload? I'd understand it if this was trying to go for a realistic slant on that...but jeez Ezio had better guns hundreds of years prior? Always makes me wonder, you know if these assassins are always handing down their gear...like Ezio trying to unlock Altair's outfit within the story context of AC2 that Mario had locked up, or Connor being given the gear in this one...why didn't anyone decide to hand down something *useful* like that, haha? It'd make sense if I wasn't leaping from hundreds of yards up from the top of a building into a tiny bit of hay, or if the boat in this game wasn't like playing Hydro Thunder or if I wasn't just running around acting like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat with those dart ropes. Dunno why I'm being asked to suspend disbelief on literally every aspect of this game *but* gun reloading. Lol, not nitpicking, just something that kinda keeps sticking out to me as slightly odd, all things considered.

EDIT: Oh snap, looking over that patch list seems like it would fix a *ton* of things I've unfortunately been noticing in this game, especially the "Camera could remain stuck after the player being respawned" one. Man, on some of those boat escort missions where you couldn't let their health go under 50%, they'd end up almost totally dead before the damned game would even give me control back on occasion! Guess I need to log on for that! Awesome that they fixed all of this in a day-1 patch, not so awesome I suppose that something is THAT borked.
