I'm not feeling the hype, but I surely will a day before I go see it. The Avengers were pretty much average, but I have hopes this one will be better than the first one. Especially with Scarlet Witch in it.

Is the dubbed only thing prevalent throughout Europe?

I'm currently in Italy where the movie premiers tomorrow and not a single cinema in Milan is showing it in English, which means no movie for me :(((

The hype is starting to creep back up, kinda like how it did for Winter Soldier. My Guardians hype just shut down the week of & came back when I was in the theater.

It's pretty prevalent, yes. However, UCi Cinemas is doing a screening in English. It's one day only and for one showing only, but all their cinemas on April 29th will be showing the movie in English with, I suppose, italian subtitles.

At what time I guess it depends on the cinema. Here it will probably start around 19.10 - 19.40, considering past showings in English.
It's not possible to preorder a ticket yet, but I very much doubt that these showings will be all that popular.
I'm going on the 29th of course, I want more movies in English, not just one and once per week!

Maybe other theatres in Milan are doing something similar, but I'm only sure about UCi.

yeah it's pretty normal.
it surprises me that it actually gets worse and not better. you'd think the youth would want (and be able to) see it in english. 10 years most of the movies were in english, now it's only a couple of screenings.

Depends on the country. In my experience The Netherlands and the dutch part of Belgium don't dub, unless it's a movie for children.

I really hate that you can't choose between 3D and 2D if you want to see the movie in IMAX. IMO 2D is almost always superior to 3D. The only movie where I felt the 3D really added to the experience was Gravity.

It depends on the country. In Germany, France, Italy and Spain literally every movie is dubbed without the option to see the original version, but here in The Netherlands only kids movies are dubbed (and even with those you can usually choose between the dubbed version and the original version).

I always thought so too, but apparently this is not the case. I was talking to a German friend of mine about this last week and she said that she was really annoyed that in The Netherlands movies and television series aren't dubbed. She even said that this is why she hardly goes to the movies or watch television when she's in The Netherlands. She vastly prefers German (or Dutch) voice actors to reading subtitles. So yeah, it's getting worse because the people that grew up with it will riot if they tone it down.

I don't know what it is, but I am not hyped at all to see this. I'll be there on day one of course, just not really that excited yet. Oh well, I guess it makes the waiting easier.

First review is up on RT, fresh

http://www.mattsmoviereviews.net/movie-critic-reviews/avengers-age-of-ultron.html

It’s during these moments of introspection that we come to realise just how vital that superhero characters are portrayed by actors who possess dramatic chops to go along with physical prowess, with Avengers: Age of Ultron a blockbuster that’s as much about who these characters are and what they are made of when faced with the very real threat of annihilation.

Writer/director Joss Whedon knew that it would be foolish to try and outdo the epic, giddy action heights of the first Avengers, a movie that was as much an event as it was a culmination of a grand plan. No, instead of going bigger Whedon opted to delve deeper and hit pay-dirt in the process. The stakes on the line in this action adventure are not only sky-high but soul-deep. Whedon hits both points with an almighty wallop, resulting in a large canvas blockbuster that is as epic as it is profound.

A lot of the blog reviews I've found say the movie is nonstop quips (in a good way). Sounds great for Whedon fans and fans of the first Avengers but it seems no one is going to change their mind about his dialogue.

Something tells me that AoU won't win over many people who disliked the first Avengers.
I'm usually quite good at picking up and understanding why people dislike films but with The Avengers and Guardians I really cannot fathom it. Whilst I understand issues with the films they're just so relentlessly charming and fun that I cannot see how someone could have a negative attitude towards it.

Guardians of the Galaxy is frankly a bit overly Farscapian for some, I've found. It has an irreverent beat to its humor that never relents, and for at least one of my friends the end evaluation was more, "that was incredibly weird" than "that was incredible."

I think that subjective charm is the key. Some people aren't charmed by it at all and therefore can't understand why others find it endearing.

I weren't that fond of the first Avengers and still isn't, after having seen it multiple times. It's just a little boring honestly. Guardians on the other hand, is my favorite Marvel movie.
And I feel like The Avengers had an incredibly slow start, and Loki invading Earth wasn't such an interesting point.

Got my tickets for May 2nd, Currently re-watching all of the MCU movies with the GF. then catching up on the last 3 episodes of Agents of shield the day before... i wish we could finish daredevil by then but our schedules are packed with this.

sucks for them

Whedon dialogue is some of the best

Weird. The 3D in the first Avengers movie was totally harmless.

I remember it being annoyingly dim in my viewing, though I feel like that may be the fault of whoever was responsible for projection at the theatre.

Got a ticket for myself and my dad. Next Thursday at 7:30PM. I decided to skip out on IMAX, since him and I aren't too big on 3D. Can't remember my last memorable IMAX 3D experience, unfortunately.

Now I'm not REALLY excited to see this, like I was with the first one. I think a lot of the build up for my excitement last time, was the fact that none of the theaters in my area had reserved seating. It was a rush to find a movie theater with available seats day one.

The movie looks great, though. Going to see Marvel/DC films with my dad is like a tradition at this point.

If a 3D projection seems dim that's the theater's fault, trying to save money(you're supposed to project 3D movies at 3X normal brightness). Shit, the other day this movie theater I went to was showing a 2D movie darker than normal. :P
