Banshee - A new action series from the creator of True Blood - Fridays - 10 - Cinemax

New episode tonight:
Always the Cowboy

As Rabbit closes in on Carrie and Lucas, Carrie flees the hospital in a desperate attempt to collect her family and get them out of town. Kai introduces Rebecca to the business world, and sends Lucas a message about fooling around with his niece. Alex Longshadow recruits a Proctor thug with gambling issues to deal with a work-stoppage problem at the casino.

Man, that sounds action packed even by Banshee standards.
You'd think that they would have exhausted their supply of action, conflict, and general pulpy awesomeness, but they keep on topping themselves every week. I skipped the logline for this week since Cinemax tends to lay out a little too much in them, but I'm excited to see where this is all going.

The office fight was hilarious. It ended just how I thought it would too.

Really excited for next week. It's probably gonna be crazy.

"Small fuckin' town."

-Kai Proctor; ex-Amish, practices kung fu, controls plebs with a whistle, has a ridiculous giant Christ tattoo on back,
will soon fuck his niece
; they could do pretty much anything with this character and it wouldn't surprise me at this point
-I like how the new Chief's sister is just off to the side with no dialogue whatsoever, looking sorta creepy, smiling a bit from time to time, like she's the Chief's version of bowtie/glasses guy; and is it just me, or does that Native American necklace thing make the actress even more smoking?
-I can't imagine what season 2 will be like after all the dust settles, which is pretty exciting

Jesus Christ, the tension is rising to absolute ridiculous levels. I sure hope the season will wrap the situation, because I have troubles waiting a week for new episode, let alone 10 damn months.
I think Hood is going to end Rabbit next week. I don't see any other end for this

Fantastic episode. I loved Job's bit in the beginning - from his "Oh Snap!" alligator shirt to his comments about Hood's drab apartment - everything about that scene was hilarious.

I actually hope Carrie kills Rabbit instead.

She already killed Olek, Rabbit belongs to Hood :)

That Proc vs Hood fight was the most pointless scene I've watched all year. How old is Rebecca anyway? Doesn't this Amish community have Rumspringa?
Yep. I like how they've coined the phrase "getting Banshee'd" :p
Banshee = abbreviation for batshit insanee

Alan Ball was infamous for ending every True Blood episode with a curveball and every season on a cliffhanger. This was the first Banshee episode to conclude in the middle of the action which doesn't bode well for the finale. I'm guessing Rabbit meets his demise but the FBI team pops up at the last minute, Proc and the Indians escalate from a skirmish into a standoff and no major character dies

So everyone is out in the open, armed and ready to commence with the killing. Next episode is gonna be fun.

Wasn't pointless. They bonded there. In banshee the only way to bond is to:

-fuck (obviously not really preferrable for either Proctor or Hood)
-bury a body together
-have a fight

;)

I expect the tribe to be the next big bad in S2, not Proctor.

Hah, that's an apt way to put it. Still one or two punches and they should have had enough, both of them had other concerns that should have taken precedence; it's the over the top nature of the characters and the show that had them punching and strangling each other for so long.

I don't see how they could position the tribe as the big bad, the new chief doesn't seem smart enough. Anyway I'm mostly just sticking along for the Rabbit, Dalton and Hannah dynamic, I don't think I'll be coming back for season 2

You might be forgetting about what Kai did to Rebecca in the last episode after he found out she'd been sleeping around. There's no way one or two punches would quell his guilt/feelings. Once he found out about Hood boning her from Burton then fisticuffs was always going to happen when they met next. If it was anyone other that Hood then they probably would have ended up dead.

One of the things I didnt like about True Blood honestly. Once you notice it you know to expect a ramping up in the energy towards the end of an episode. Thankfully Banshee isnt like that every episode. The one with Hood's prison buddy was a perfect example of how not everything needs to end with an 'oh shit' moment. Sometimes its cool to just let the dust settle.

Highly unlikely. He already knows she gets around else he wouldn't have had Sugar place him on alert for when next she was at the bar. He was only so pissed off because he sees Hood as a threat (perhaps not even as a threat to his business but as a threat for her affections). Anyone else he wouldn't care too much about. But that's only the reason for the start of the fistcuffs. The whole setup and the length of the action as just to serve some more fight porn, I can't see other reasons that justify it. I'm guessing there was no other spot to squeeze in a Kai vs Hood fight this season.

Rabbit looks like he's going to die from being old. He looked like he was about to pass out sitting on that couch. Watch him have cancer or something. Why he cares so much about the boy that is sick.

This man gets it.

Regarding the burying part, I laffed at Job's Sugar Daddy quip. "We are tight now!"

Rabbit looks like he's going to die from being old.
Paraphrasing Justified's Boyd Crowder, he's going to die from being an asshole.

A Native American assassin using a tomahawk as their preferred weapon of choice. That feels like such a comic book-y thing to do. I love it. I wonder if she uses a bow and arrow instead of a gun? :D

I'm guessing Rabbit meets his demise but the FBI team pops up at the last minute, Proc and the Indians escalate from a skirmish into a standoff and no major character dies

I think it would be a huge mistake for them to kill off any major character besides Rabbit.

I don't think I'll be coming back for season 2

Why not? You seem to be enjoying it.

Aye, they really can't kill off characters like Sugar and Job as their stories haven't fully been explored yet. Next season with the triangle Proc vs Tribe vs hood+sugar+job's casino heist has been setup nicely.

I'm enjoying it but it's more of a guilty pleasure. Half the time I pause in the middle of some gratuitous violence or sex and ask myself wtf I'm watching. Then I crawl back, fast forward a bit only to see the show double down on the action lol. I kinda thought the show would be more of a psychological study, a little like Breaking Bad, but then Alan Ball also fooled with the first True Blood previews when they teased it as some sort of dramatic allegory of racism in the deep south...

BTW, I'm going to enjoy watching Rebecca go bad so, so much.
She'll turn bad for a bit then Hood will make her good again
with his penis

Every time Hood makes that face I always think of this dog:

He does tend to put that sad puppy face. Case in point:

What I find really amusing is his arms-half open strut. Almost as if he were this HUGE FUCKING DUDE when he's actually thin and fit.

Edit: From now on that strut should be called the Hood Strut.

Nice build up for the finale this week. Job was killing it, as usual.

- Promo for the season finale (please spoiler tag any discussion)

I think Alan Ball has a lot less to do with this show than you think he does. He's an EP on it, but it's not like he's the showrunner. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if we have a cliffhanger on the finale given all the balls in the air at the moment.

That tag past the credits was hilariously random.

Great episode. Adrian's absolutely on point with the Banshee bonding methods. That fight was so damn funny, felt like it came out of nowhere too. Plus, hilarious how it ended. Rabbit is so hilariously creepy. Pretty sure he'll die next episode (which looks fucking intense). I bet Gordon will be the one to kill him. In the credits, it's Rus Blackwell's (Gordon) name that appears as the rifle's being built up. Plus he was in the Marines. So I see him getting a badass moment (finally).

Hilarious that Alex's sister gets zero lines this episode. She should wear a bow tie instead of the choker and be sexy bow tie analogue.

I'm counting down the minutes until these two bone, holy shit.

Wow great episode as usual, next episode is going to be mind blowing!

By the way whoever chooses the females for this show deserves a medal. None of them are the "typical" hot girl, this show has good taste.

This took me a second to figure out what I was looking at.

But that can't be right.

A body can't decompose that much in that short of a time period.

I don't know, it's really hard to keep track of time in Banshee. How much time has passed since Hood arrived? A couple of months?
Given that it seems like a humid place, it wouldn't be that far fetched. Not that I'm a forensics expert or anything.

Agree. That said, I have to wonder if they plan to give Job a boyfriend. Maybe a hot, burly ass Amish with a ginger beard.

So Alan Ball twist is that it isn't an Alan Ball show. Fooled me again

True Blood did keep the cliffhanger tradition after he stopped being showrunner

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame
Lol, Rabbit's death is probably going to be a bloody messy affair and Deva is the tiniest weakest character on the show (besides Max). Not going to happen. They've played with the Deva character a bit: not sure if she's a 'good girl' (teasing that boyfriend of her's without giving it up) or a 'bad girl' (trying to seduce?! that drugs guy) but she seems a softie at heart

Funky Papa

Deva truly is pocket sized. It's almost comical to see her next to her father and thinking that the actress is 19 years old. I cannot imagine her in a physical situation nor holding a gun that's probably bigger than her.

Gordon might actually be the one to do it. They haven't really pushed that Gulf War hero angle yet (although 'relapsing PTSD' might explain him ransacking the house like that). Gordon dies killing Rabbit. Hood, Hannah and Deva live sadly ever after (Max doesn't make it)

hah. I should be collecting more gifs from this show. Job is easily my favorite character.

I could see that happening. He keeps on threatening to do this and that, but we haven't seen much from him. Seems like everyone pops off sooner or later on this show, so maybe it's his time.

I'd love it if it turned out that Gordon was more psychotic and dangerous than Hood when he's enraged.
