I really don't think this will change the box office numbers though...

I'm not even a fan of the movie but I can see it making a lot of money.

But, I'll judge it my self.

I hope this marks the decline of this genre. It's so overdone and tired. I hope the public has had enough.

Happy with the reviews.
One bad movie isn't going to kill superhero movies. Especially one bad DC movie, given Marvel are shooting out several commercially successful movies a year.

I don't have a problem with Batman killing when the enemy leaves him no choice.

When he does so just for the hell of it, or worse, seems to take pleasure in doing it, though...

I wouldn't call myself a fan of Snyder, but that's just because I've only seen Man of Steel of his films. That one's flawed but enjoyable, and I'm expecting the same out of BvS. TBH, I know it's lame to attack the critics, but they've always been hating on Snyder, even on his movies most consider to be of high quality. I'll wait to see it for myself.

That said, I screenshotted the RT score when it was at 0% because it was too funny to me.

Maybe his movies just aren't that good and he's not that good of a storyteller?

When a guy's been making movies for over a decade and they've all received mixed to negative reviews, maybe the issue is with the director and not everyone else.

Your answer:
100% True and worst of all is it's never explained or given context, he just does it and we sit back and have to say "ok then..."

Fuck this man, seriously, who thought that was a good idea? Who approved that part of the script?

It will hurt in the second week if it's really that bad. Word of mouth will kill it big time.

MAJOR SPOILERS
its the warehouse sequence where he kills someone by lighting them on fire

Some clarity:
It's a complete ripoff of the baby hostage scene in Dark Knight Returns. He busts through a wall taking out a goon with an M60. The bad bad guy with a hostage has a flamethrower says he'll kill them. Batman says "I believe you" and shoots the tank. The tank blows up.

Frank Miller was the first person to get a special thanks credit at the end of the movie.

Eh, I just saw Man of Steel yesterday to prepare for this. I don't know enough about Superman and it's probably a really horrible superhero movie. But I really enjoyed it as an action film. If this one is even better, I know I will have my fun.

To be fair I don't think it's a big shock that this Batman is seasoned and has lost a lot. does he say something like "20 years doing this, How many good people are left?"

I mean it can be said batman is a bit unhinged at this point.

I, too, hate that a thing I can easily ignore is enjoyed by millions of people.

Because it completely shatters his character. His no-killing rule isn't just some moral code, it's a symptom of the psychological trauma that made him the Batman. If you take that away then he's just the fucking Punisher. Batman being a murderer is also a major negative I had for the '89 Batman film.

I don't have an issue with Batman killing in situations that call for it. The Nolan movies atleast presented some justified scenarios (last second saving a kid, war-time chaos in the streets). But he shouldn't be indiscriminately killing dudes in situations where he doesn't have to, let alone low-level thugs. Even angry post-Jason Todd brutal Batman should have a bit more nuance.

I thought Dawn of the Dead (75% on RT) was a genuinely solid horror film.

But I agree with you that he's just not that good of a director.

Its amazing that people get this upset about their being 3-4 movies a year out of the hundreds released every year being in a genre that the general public seems to enjoy.

Again, this is the batman from The Dark Knight Returns. That bats was a ruthless mofo that played it fast and loose with the One Rule.

But it's not like batman depiction in this film is the main issue with it anyhow so meh

Yikes. Sounds like Snyder/the script just completely flubbed the characters and the second-half narrative/structure.

The first act is a bit ponderous and very very very disjointed. It somehow feels overlong and yet like it's missing a string of connecting scenes to set context and help it flow. It's kind of all over the place. So I'm the opposite of 1st half good/2nd half bad thought.

I thought the 2nd act was pretty good, and the 3rd act was your standard comic book movie 3rd act.

There's a bunch of scenes and fights which people will lose their minds over, but honestly there's not that much coherent framework holding them together. Unfortunately part of the conceit means that both Superman and Batman are fundamentally as dumb as a bag of rocks for much of the movie.

And you're happy a movie is bad....why exactly?

Because they should have fired Snyder after the last shitshow and didn't. This is chickens coming home to roost and it feels good.

Maybe it will lead to WB getting their collective heads out of their asses and hiring a decent writer and director next time.

In DKR
he only paralyses the Joker, who then proceeds to kill himself. The tank fires - and I quote - "rubber bullets. Honest." Though there is a moment where Batman uses a machine gun on a thug which looks like a pretty obvious murder.

Ooh I forgot, 'he twists, and twists'. God that was such a great moment. Yeah DKR Bats is brutal as hell but doesn't really break the rules.
In BvS it would suck if Bats really kills randomly

From the Newsarama review:

'More in the tradition of an old school Hollywood biblical epic than modern-day superhero movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice tries to be grand and important in its every frame, and for the most part, Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio deliver on their very lofty ambitions, crafting a wholly unique comic book movie experience, which in today’s increasingly-crowded superhero marketplace, is not an insignificant achievement.'

:-\ Guess I'll just strap in and try to find something to enjoy in it on Friday.

I don't have an issue with an alt-universe Batman killing. Seeing the "main" Batman learn that and compare his morality and mission against that would give it a good story and some introspection. But to not have a "main" Batman with that morality really wastes the character.

Then they shouldn't write dialogue where he
criticizes other people (Superman) for causing the death of people...
