Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

I never saw the movie. so bane just knees Batman in the back, and that's it? Damn.

seems I made the right choice.

I don't know what people are complaining about the scene is awesome and the sound is brutal. I actually really love TDKR along with the rest of the Nolan trilogy, it provides a solid closure to the arc of Bruce Wayne.

BvS rotten tomato meter right now:

Oh, and this Batman repeatedly shatters his
"one rule", and kills willy-nilly while demonstrating a disturbing taste for sadistic mutilation

... No way.

Really. NO WAY.

I mean, I forgave the Burton films because, you know, it was the 80s, we needed to wash the taste of Adam West out of our mouths, but... it's been nearly 30 years. We expect better than that.

This can't be true. I'm in full-on denial mode right now.

HOW DID THEY NOT SEE THIS COMING? That's the baffling part. Did they not watch Man of Steel? I just don't get it.

Seriously. Man of Steel wasn't a failed "heart in the right place" try. It was "doesn't get the character" bad. How on Earth did they let him have another go at it? I actually love Synder but holy hell was MoS bad. To people who have seen it, is there more ridiculous product placement in this one like there was in MoS?

Your answer:
100% True and worst of all is it's never explained or given context, he just does it and we sit back and have to say "ok then..."

Is it totally unambiguous and direct or more like
"throws them off the roof and it sure looks like they should be dead or horribly injured but we never see it" style of comic book beatdowns
?

Those review quotes are so ambiguous and contradictory

So, the superhero escapism genre is in dire need of a break, but audiences should reject this for being more of a philosophical drama?

Also, Marvel, the sole culprits of superhero exhaustion (if that's even a thing), can rest easy because they'll be the ones to finish driving the genre into the ground?

I'm going to see this anyway. Fuck the critics lol

Returns was critically acclaimed... Audiences hated it. MoS was half and half. I expect BvS to be again half and half. Very devicive movie.

Looks like very divisive film. I didn't think Snyder can make it even more divisive than MoS. Will it be most divisive ever???

Also that stuff about Batman....well damn. Fuck.

My hype went from 10 down to like 3 and now back to 10.

Also IGN saying "expect more Watchmen and less Avengers" is pretty much the most incredible shit that could have happened with this movie. That 3 hour R rated cut should be interesting.
Well, that has increased my interest!

I didn't want to watch Ben Affleck play the Punisher. .
There's something in all of this that you guys aren't getting. Batman isn't just killing criminals, he apparently sadistically mutilates and slaughters them. That isn't the fucking Batman, sorry.
Unless I'm missing something, the only way he "mutilates" guys is
branding murderers/rapsts etc with the bat symbol.

A shit load of people didn't see it coming despite the obvious signs. The metascore prediction thread is chock full of hopeful young lads thinking it'll get a 75-85 on MC

The Dark Knight trilogy does exist, though, and was reviewed by the same critics.

TDK had great writing from start to finish.

BVS probably had a dog shit script that got covered by sprinkles. I wish the movie had a tighter script from the start.

Zack's core team (besides the CG) just isn't very good it seems.

Will watch and probably like it anyways, but i'm on board with booting Zack even though his action is ace compared to anyone.

lol of course it's shit

movies arent good based on hype, but the people behind them, guys

it's zack snyder

the only thing im wondering about is what they'll do next, cause now their whole universe is built upon this thing and the previous equally bad thing

Seriously. Man of Steel wasn't a failed, yet good, try. It was terrible. How on Earth did they let him have another go at it? I actually love Synder but holy hell was MoS bad. To people who have seen it, is there more ridiculous product placement in this one like there was in MoS?

This is far from a universal opinion among fans, critics or casual viewers though.

I hope this marks the decline of this genre. It's so overdone and tired. I hope the public has had enough.

Happy with the reviews.

I fucking wish, I've been feeling this way for almost half a decade. More action and fantasy movies like Fury Road and less Superheroes movies please Hollywood.

This movie will still be a moderate success due it having Batman in the title, probably. But good lord is this a bad start for something planned as a massive series.

MCU works because it was built on many entertaining films (to most people, not talking neogaf consensus), which allowed Marvel to do stuff like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man.Even the unknown stuff does well because of the MCU brand. But when your major films fail to deliver, or are even considered to be bad/reviewed badly, you'll have a problem in expanding that universe and convincing people to watch the ones that do not contain Batman (or another major superhero).

MoS soured me already (of which the trailers hyped me a lot, regardless of me not liking superman), but I really hoped they would deliver with this one. I need more good Batman films in my life.

I mean...wasn't the Arkham games a huge success?? lol

If Batman in this movie is beating the crap out of people like he was in Arkham....then why are people upset about that? Is that not the Batman they wanted to see?

I know a video game isn't a movie but still.....we've been waiting forever for a Batman like that.

From Slashfilm's review:

The first hour of Batman v Superman is pretty awesome. Zack Snyder knows how to start a movie with a bang, often doing so with a kick-ass montage. Batman v Superman is no different from Snyder’s previous films in offering us a visual feast up front.

Watched the spoiler-free part of Greg Miller and Tim Gettys' review on Kinda Funny (Greg said it was very good, Tim was a little more apprehensive), and I'm still looking forward to it. I align much more with Greg's standpoint being a comic book fan, I'm just looking forward to seeing all these characters on the same screen.

If comic book movies couldn't be stopped by Batman & Robin, Catwoman, Green Lantern, Daredevil, Elektra, Hulk (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Spirit, Spiderman 3, or every single film in the Blade, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider or Punisher series, what makes you think this will get the job done?
