From the Newsarama review:

'More in the tradition of an old school Hollywood biblical epic than modern-day superhero movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice tries to be grand and important in its every frame, and for the most part, Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio deliver on their very lofty ambitions, crafting a wholly unique comic book movie experience, which in today’s increasingly-crowded superhero marketplace, is not an insignificant achievement.'

finally, a trustworthy review. took long enough.

Wait, but how can this be possible??

Ooh I forgot, 'he twists, and twists'. God that was such a great moment. Yeah DKR Bats is brutal as hell but doesn't really break the rules.
In BvS it would suck if Bats really kills randomly

I agree. It was fine in the context of DKR, but not as part of an ongoing cinematic multiverse designed to be "the" Batman. I can live with the bad reviews, but that particular piece of information about BvS really doesn't sit well with me.

"offers more philosophical drama than superhero escapism"

"not fun"

"make you yearn for the lighter touch of the Marvel films"

"humourless"

"better than Man of Steel"

These negative reviews are actually getting me hyped.

I thought Dawn of the Dead (75% on RT) was a genuinely solid horror film.

But I agree with you that he's just not that good of a director.

I honestly haven't seen it, and only just looked up its RT score after I wrote that post. :lol Most people do seem to think it's his best movie though.

Well I don't think I've ever disliked a movie.

I don't have an issue with Batman killing in situations that call for it. The Nolan movies atleast presented some justified scenarios (last second saving a kid, war-time chaos in the streets). But he shouldn't be indiscriminately killing dudes in situations where he doesn't have to, let alone low-level thugs. Even angry post-Jason Todd brutal Batman should have a bit more nuance.

He doesn't. Not really. The review both exaggerates and misinforms.

I never saw the movie. so bane just knees Batman in the back, and that's it? Damn.

seems I made the right choice.

I liked TDKR, but that scene never sat right with me either. It doesn't look even half as bad as it looks in the comic.
In the comic it looks brutal as hell.

From the same review...

' Ben Affleck easily makes the best live-action Bruce Wayne yet … but whether you agree or not is probably entirely dependent on your predisposition to Ben Affleck. But he inhabits the comic book version of Batman’s alter-ego better than Christian Bale ever did or Michael Keaton or anyone else ever could. Making Bruce an older, world-weary version of himself naturally imbues this version with the gravitas always lacking in prior big-screen attempts and Affleck does nothing to compromise his written-in advantage.

And as Batman, Snyder lets Affleck’s Dark Knight do darker things than he’s ever done before. This is certainly more ‘Frank Miller’ than the ‘Animated Series’ Batman, be forewarned.'

I didn't want to watch Ben Affleck play the Punisher. There's something in all of this that you guys aren't getting.
Batman isn't just killing criminals, he apparently sadistically mutilates and slaughters them. That isn't the fucking Batman, sorry.

Looks like very divisive film. I didn't think Snyder can make it even more divisive than MoS. Will it be most divisive ever???

Also that stuff about Batman....well damn. Fuck.

My hype went from 10 down to like 3 and now back to 10.

Also IGN saying "expect more Watchmen and less Avengers" is pretty much the most incredible shit that could have happened with this movie. That 3 hour R rated cut should be interesting.

Disappointing, but will still reserve judgement til I see the film. Watchmen was not exactly critically well received either, and that to me is one of the best "modern" comic flicks.

I'm having Batman kill is hurting my hype for Batman solo movie
It's the one character in DC you don't fuck up WB

A lot of people just seem upset that if isn't Marvel. I wasn't too interested in the film before but now I really want to see it.
