ASM 2 was much better than Spiderman 3, something people like to forget.

No.
Jesus Christ, no.

Spider-Man 3 was shit because it was quite literally 2 or 3 films crammed into one, along with terrible plot twists. Yes it was bad, but just occasionally you saw glimpses of the awesome films (emphasis on FILMS) it could have been (except for Venom, he was ass).

ASM2 was not a film. It was a 2 hour trailer for the Sony Comic Universe that thank God, never came to pass.

Now here is my question:

WHAT THE FUCK WAS NOLAN DOING DURING ALL OF THIS?

He was the producer FFS. Did he just sit at home and chug down Goldfish crackers and Yoo-Hoo and just let Snyder do his thing? A man of his talent surely saw the shit show that was MoS and BvS.

Why didn't he do anything?

He's only an executive producer i.e nice name to have on billboards but no actual creative input. Just pick up cheque and go home most likely.

A fair few of them fault the movie for not being funny and quirky, which doesn't make much sense considering the style of Batman they are going for and the whole "there are these alien superheroes just chilling on earth, the fuck we do?"

Hmmm yeah. I liked the tone of Man of Steel and I don't need for everything to be the same shit. This is one of those things where your enjoyment of it is going to depend on your own perception; which is true of all things but here I mean like, if you're not okay with superheroes doing things you don't think they should or would, stuff like that. I personally don't give a rat's ass so it didn't bother me in Man of Steel.

Well, most marvel films tend to get above 70% in those site, and they are all below average and simple products.

I think Marvel has set up a format of super heroe movie and deviations from that stuff tend to be not well recieved.

That and I really liked Man of Steel, so maybe im the one with shitty taste and not reviewers.
If only marvel films get well reviewed then how come the Nolan films did well?

the only thing people should hate after this is the people behind it

there's a fantastic version of this floating in the ether

Ppl talking about a Marvel formula after Deadpool just dropped

Pls

fuck, did you see the doc?

it looked fucking cool man. It was like a one-off comic with someone being given the helm to just do a complete retake on the mythos

like, enough stuff completely changed to avoid pissing people off on what they got "wrong"

the core of the character was also very intact. Burton totally got him

That doc made me so sad all we got was Wild Wild West. Fucking Hollywood.

I remember leaving the theater baffled by whatever the fuck ASM2 was. Like... it was a feverdream of bad dubstep, awkward romance (?), and bad tablesetting.

TBF the romance in the original Spiderman films made th rmance in ASM look like Romeo and Juilett. I was down right glad they didn't get together it was all round awful.

Not surprised by the negative reviews. From what I could recall, the trailer reactions have been mostly negative. Zach Snyder isn't the most talented director in the world, but it's interesting how polarizing his movies are

I just can't fathom it being that bad. Guess I'll know in 12 hours time but it just doesn't make sense. I know it sounds ridiculous and I don't believe it but it really feels like people have a weird agenda when it comes to superhero movies.

Or maybe Deadpool has just changed everyone.

I feel my wings have broken in your hands
I feel the words unspoken inside
And, they pull you under
And, I will give you anything you want, oh
You are all I wanted
All my dreams are fallen down
Crawlin' around and around and around
second rate super song.

Digging for kriptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet

So if the movie actually is rather bad, what does that mean for the DCCU going forward? It's too late to do anything about Justice League 1, but do they boot Snyder for 2? Put it on the backburner and prioritize a solo Affleck Batman?

I think, depending on how this movie turns out, Suicide Squad will suddenly have a huge new responsibility in proving the viability/appeal of a non-Snyder DC movie.

They need to scrap the team behind the upcoming Aqauman movie. It sounds like it will be a complete trainwreck.

To give you a better idea, here are some Rottentomatoes percentages.

Director James Wan

Saw - 48%
Death Sentence - 20%
Dead Silence - 21%
Insidious - 66%
The Conjuring - 86%
Furious 7 - 81%

Screenwriter David Leslie Johnson

Red Riding Hood - 10%
Orphan - 55%
Wrath of the Titans - 25%

Screenwriter Kurt Johnstad

300 - 60%
Act of Valor - 24%
300: Rise of an Empire - 42%

Does this sound like a team that should be involved with Aquaman's first really big movie?

Have yet to see deadpool. Seen all the thors, captain 'merrica, man of iron and avengers.

Exactly the same thing can be said about all of them: excellent action sequences, meh everything else. The humor in particular is what kills them for me. It is a very american brand of humor that I find so so bad.

good lord it was not

ASM2 is most likely the worst superhero movie, without counting "no one cared" abortions

it's a complete piece of shit with nothing redeeming about it other than maybe some colorful CG sequence

it made me sick

I rarely agree with the exterme opinions on neogaf regarding films, but this one, yes.

Film felt to me like an unholy mixture of Batman vs Robin (campy out of place humor and overly cartoony villains), The Dark Knight (good actors and some dark moments), and Transformers 2 (childhood ruined). It was all over the place.

What a travesty, first film ever me and my friends actually joked about leaving and just going to another film. Also the second film I ever laughed at the soundtrack (first being one of those crappy Mortal Kombat films after the first two).

Yes..end of the day this will land right around 50%. The epitome of mixed.

If a movie is 50% on RT, it generally means it sucks. RT scores are 'inflated' in a similar way videogame scores were.

Well more like people's perceptions of them are inflated.

If you werent paying attention you could have mistaken the commercials for this with a commercial for like Flash or Supergirl.

It just looked... Shitty. I cant really articulate what I am trying to say.

Snyder is probably like one of those people who pretended to be into comic books well after nerds took over the world and he picked his favorite based on power levels without having ever read a single story.
