Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

This will do 800 million on name alone, so stop worrying. None of us have any reservations about having a laugh at it turning out badly because we all know that its still going to bring in that dough. It will lack legs, but they will make their money anyway.

I wouldn't be so sure this does significantly over 800 million if audiences have the same reaction. It may open big but its entirely possible it collapses post release

Its actually depressing man

What are some recommended Batman/Superman stories? Just so I can think about what could have been

Are you sure it's not that they're waiting for a teaser but that they just couldn't move because their brains couldn't process the badness of the thing they just watched?

Good to know about no teaser after credits though. Not gonna waste my time seeing the credits roll later... especially if the movie is just as bad as everyone said... damn.

It could be both, I just took it that way because of the tweet that immediately preceeded it

lol for posterity:

Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 35% almost as good as Rise of the Silver Surfer)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 35% dead heat with The Room, oh hi Tommy)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 35%, officially better than Gangster Squad!!!)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 37%, it's Mars Needs Moms good)

lmao

I don't understand why people here are happy that this movie is getting bad reviews. I was looking forward to this movie and feel disappointed at the result. I really want this movie to work :(

I really don't want this film to set the tone for the rest of the cinematic universe, but that's just me. I'm not necessarily happy.

Will BvS make it's budget and net some money?

Sure it will.

Is it a horrible sign if it doesn't track well? God damn right. This isn't one movie they need to sell, it's decade plus long franchise of films that they're utterly reliant on for financial windfall.

And god forbid word of mouth on this is bad and it craters.

These thread title changes, holy shit 😂😂

May god bless you mods

If it drops a little more then we can have the "Almost as good as The Room" title that we deserve.

Haha damn! And there I was predicting this might get 80% on RT and be Snyder's most critically favored film.

My expectations for this film have certainly plummeted.

There is a 1st for everything.

Just kidding, really hope people who paid will enjoy the movie.

I liked all the transformers, both grown ups movies, hell one of my favorite movies to watch Grind has an 8% on rottentomatoes. I dont see myself not enjoying it like i said i dont judge movies and not because i honestly wouldnt tell you good writing from bad writing.

I'm pretty damn sad that this sucked.

I was hopeful that it'd at least be passably decent to good. Wasn't expecting peak MCU greatness but I hoped it'd at least be alright.

It's a Batman movie with Ben Affleck FFS.

I was expecting 60-70% or so. Wasn't expecting it to be good with all the stuff surrounding it leading up to release, but I didn't expect it to get torn to shreds like this.

Having not seen the movie, I can't comment on it's quality. However, going by the reception, I am genuinely curious if this will affect (positively or negatively) the internet's negative reaction to The Dark Knight Rises.

I mean, low scores and all, this movie will likely make bank so WB shouldn't have anything to worry about.

If Jurassic World can break records as a steaming pile of garbage, so can this. The only thing that might hamper it is Superhero fatigue.
Yeah but JW also had good reviews.

I look at these scores and its genuinely difficult for me to believe the movie is this bad.

I mean how? How is it possible to fuck up Batman and Superman so badly?

As for box office performance, the last rotten Superman movie and the last rotten Batman movie, combined, made a little over $900mil worldwide. There's the benchmark for success!

TDKR is a good movie that's a bad followup to a great movie.

This is just a bad movie.

Nobody there reads comics, knows these characters, or has any idea what a Superman and Batman movie is supposed to be. All they expect is for Marvel's movie audience to give them money for trying. They'll get that.

... studio expectations for gross, dude. Making a profit is not always enough to make the studio happy. If they were expecting it to gross say, $1.2B, $1B might be shy enough to be upset with Snyder.

JW has a RT of 72. This movie is a 37.

Only weird comic fanboys hate TDKR, it's got a favorable score from critics and most general audiences enjoyed the movie. That's not to say that the movie is perfect or that others can't dislike it, but there is a certain extreme level of hate that existed for the film after its release that was only quelled by MoS. After MoS fanboys finally saw what a truly bad DC film looked like with one of their major characters. I think TDKR will only ever continue to be looked up to with each subsequent release by WB.

Movie looked like a clusterfuck and honestly looked pretty bad from the get go. Some part of me still hoped for a good movie, that part should have gave in a long time ago.

Decided to check what hilarious title changes took place up until now, laughed my ass off:

Batman v. Superman Review Thread
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 39% and climbing!)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 42% and climbing!) <-- I made this change!
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 40% and fluctuating)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 39% and fluctuating)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 38% and getting farther behind Batman Forever)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 37% but it's still higher than Batman and Robin)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 35% almost as good as Prince Of Persia)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 35% almost as good as Rise of the Silver Surfer)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 35% dead heat with The Room, oh hi Tommy)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 35%, officially better than Gangster Squad!!!)
Batman v. Superman Review Thread (RT 37%, it's Mars Needs Moms good )

JW had a 70% on RT. The only blockbusters savaged by critics that truly make bank are Bay's. Otherwise they're pretty good at predicting a flop/disappointment if they hate something.
