"Have we started a fire?"
"No brother, Zack Snyder did."

Exactly. The Dark Knight Rises is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an 87%, has a metascore of 78 (The Dark Knight is at 82), a Cinemascore of A, and was on several critics' top movies of the year lists, including the American Film Institute's list. So the hate for that film is utterly baffling. Did it live up to The Dark Knight? No. But it's a good film in its own right, especially compared to Man of Steel, which is an actual bad film.
Agreed, TDKR was great and one of my fav superhero movies. It's no TDK, but still great in it's own right.

Decided to check what hilarious title changes took place up until now, laughed my ass off:

I'm crying

Judging by whats been said without going into any detail I dont think you need to worry about Superman being the only one not understood in this film.

In my mind, Batman has had enough representations, and Wonder Woman was ruined the second that they cast Gal Gadot, so the only character I really had hope for was Supes. I've already been in the spoiler thread, so I know about all the general shittiness.

Any chance that WB releases a press statement saying production on Justice League is delayed and they have instead moved forward with the Batman solo movie?

Actually there was a rumor about this not too long ago.

As much as I'm a Marvel fanboy, I really wanted this film to succeed (critically). I want the DCU to succeed. I wanted to see new characters and see where WB/DC took the story on film. Look at what Marvel gave us. The potential is there for something wonderful that sets itself apart or redefine what a comic book movie is about. I'm utterly disappointed but not surprised. I'm hoping that Suicide Squad will be a different story.

As hilarious as these % comparisons are, it's important to note that sometimes a better indicator is the average rating, which is actually at 5.3.

I mean, that's certainly not good, but there's a good amount of MCU films sitting just above a 6, which isn't significantly higher.

No chance in hell. Production is 3 weeks away they are WAY too deep in pre-production now to cut ties, they've already sunk money into it.

More than likely they just wrench actual creative control from Snyder while not officially ousting him.

Or at least I hope.

I really do think a lot of the negative buzz from its detractors stems from the utter brilliance that was TDK. Basically everything about that movie was fantastic creating not just an amazing Batman movie but one of the best movies of the last decade. As a result, people expected lightning to strike twice with TDKR and were thus disappointed when they merely got a good movie instead of some transcendent masterpiece, a Magnum Opus to cap off the Nolan Trilogy.

How does Marvel put out a turd like Thor: The Dark World and it ends up with OK reviews? The film was complete and utter ass.

WB/DC needs to get some of that Disney/Marvel secret sauce.

It's a shame Man of Steel couldn't copy All-Star Superman's succinct telling of the origin story, as well as its tone and characterization.

I am still baffled why, despite all the comics writers that get to pen the scripts or punch-ups for these films, nobody has gotten Grant Morrison to do one.

Nice observation. So it may not be as terrible as it looks at first glance (but likely still bad)

It was just super safe. Non offensive. Just there. But for fans of the universe it had something for them.

How long until we go from the opposite end?

BvS is twice as good as Adam Sandlers Eight Crazy Nights.. and 4 times as good as Son of Mask.

You know WB would butcher the hell out of a Grant Morrison script. Comic fans for as much as they love him can barely understand half the stuff he writes.

Probably because Thor: The Dark World never tried to pretend it was a genius work of art.

It more speaks to how INSANELY lucky Marvel/Disney was that they lucked into Joss Whedon parsing out all of phase one. IMO

I mean it really shouldn't of taken too much to see that the polarizing director of Watchmen(even though I liked it), 300 and the awful Sucker Punch might not be the guy to anchor your hopefully billion dollar DC film empire.

I think it's too late for that, all steam ahead! But I think this might put a ton of pressure on Suicide Squad to help push this new DCU, which may not be fair at all, good movie or not.

But I think this could actually delay other movies down the line, to retool and restructure their plans and affect everyone but Snyder's movies, ironically enough. It all depends on the numbers this weekend.

I kind of assumed that even being a Snyder movie, this would review better than the last time Affleck played a superhero.

Holy shit, this is brutal.

It's a conspiraceh

The real answer is, Thor is not Batman or Superman, and especially not Batman AND Superman together in a movie for the very first time.
