If anyone is still here that's actually seen the movie:

A while ago I remember seeing talk about possibly splitting the movie into two films. Would the movie have been better served had that been the case?

As is? Absolutely not.

Extended cut? Who knows what it adds and changes, but I'll stick with no.

A reworked script? Sure.

Wouldn't work.

Not to bring up Marvel for the sake of it, but what they did by having separate movies for each character and then bringing them together not only helped people get hyped up, but it meant that the ensemble movie wasn't bloated.

What I'm understanding is that they tried to stuff this universes Batffleck, and Wonder Woman into the MoS universe set a few years ago.

This movie was bloated from the onset.

Hey, Roeper (of Ebert & Roeper) liked it overall, though he does acknowledge its faults. Dat's cool

Looks like the film is gonna be a 40 percenter. Just not the Batman v Superman film the people wanted nor the one they deserved

The Israelites were in Egypt for 400 years at this point, but I guess for some people they never could be "real Egyptians".
Racist.

Look. I'm basing this on the lore presented in the film. They lived apart as two races and the Egyptians did not consider them to be of the same people! Oh yeah, I just remembered, John Turturro also played an Egyptian! So did Sigourney Weaver! <3

I mean from jump when they said it would be the JL intro movie and that it'd have Lex Luthor, AND Wonder Woman, AND Doomsday, AND Batman, people said it would be too bloated to work.

How WB/DC didn't see it, when everybody else did, I have no idea.

Double Toasted and Half in the Bag reviews should be interesting.

Here's the abridged version of the red letter media review:

1. Jay, expecting Mike to hate the movie will make jokes and giggle a lot about how it was stupid movie.
2. Mike makes sensible statements, saying the movie might be strange, but it is strange in its own way and at least that's something new. But still calls it a stupid movie in some other aspects.
3.Jay changes his opinion and begins backtracking.

That's the gist of every Half in the bag.

i'm surprised it's not lower (yet?). the film just seemed to be a ton of shit shoved in there just to make a justice league origins movie. dc will probably see how suicide squad shakes out before they decide what to do with the rest of the franchise.

damn shame they couldn't get a good superman movie out though.

Well regardless of how we all end up viewing the movie, hopefully in a few years someone is going to have a helluva behind-the-scenes account of all this.

I don't expect the movie to be good, but I do wonder if this is the kind of movie where people went in already expecting to hate it. Most bad superhero movies get way better reviews than this.

It's gonna be great.

Well, WB gave the task to Snyder. The writing was on the wall - I can't even comprehend people having faith on the guy after MoS, which was painful to watch.

That's not how Jeff He Who Lives at Home worked. Or Deadpool! Or Fantastic Four. Or Star Wars. Or Krampus. Whaaat.

Basically just Jurassic World.

DCU is DOA. Can't say I feel bad for them, they should have been smarter than to stick with a hack like Snyder.

DCEU will move forward with the same plan or something slightly altered. This film won't bomb and SS has the potential to be a hit (smaller expectations than BvS). Wonder Woman will still see a 2017 release.

I would like to see Aquaman get a solo film before JL if possible.

I wish they did not give Snyder as much control over these films. Not the biggest fan of his.

Hell yeah boy! GOAT superhero movie. They should have given Shane Black the keys to Infinity War.

Iron Man 3 was by far my favorite Iron Man movie.

It doesn't come close to Winter Soldier or Guardians, but its good!

Man I thought I was the only one that thought Iron Man 3 was good after watching it a second time lol. Mandarin Twist soured me at first but that didn't change the fact that the movie was a hell of a fun ride until then. Kinda reminds me of the first Cap movie in that reguard. Really solid first act that falls apart sorta half way and finishes on a mediocre note.

Internet echo chambers.

Iron Man 3 was well made, well received, and a huge box office hit. Plenty of people love it.

Woah, other Iron Man 3 lovers exist? I thought I was alone. Loved Iron Man 3. Seemed too many people hated it for the Mandarin bait and switch, but I liked it. And the "too much Tony, not enough Iron Man" thing I totally disagreed with it. That's probably the biggest part about the movie I liked.

Iron Man 3 is a top 5 all time MCU film. Only Guardians, IM1 and Winter Soldier are better.

Shane Black made an early '90s Shane Black buddy comedy that just happened to star Tony & Rhodey.

If you at all like Shane Black I don't know how the fuck you can possibly get mad at that.

Like, if you dig

Lethal Weapon
Last Boy Scout
Long Kiss Goodnight
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
hell, I'll throw in Last Action Hero and fuckin' Monster Squad, even.

I don't know how you come away from Iron Man Three going "man, that was terrible." It makes no sense.

On rewatches, I'd put IM3 over Guardians. Shane Black knows how to do humor that survives repetition.

I was torn on Iron Man 3 when it first came out. I thought it wasn't what I wanted it to be (in terms of a full out Iron Man movie) yet it was still bound to a chain that didn't let it go as far as it could have (with SB at the helm), but I came to appreciate it in repeated viewings, and I like it a lot now. And it's a great movie on its own in terms of action, character and style.

In any case, we can at least all agree that the "bu bu bu they changed the Mandarin" people are literally THE WORST.

Iron Man = Best Iron Man film
Iron Man 3 = Best Tony Stark film

they can't hurt us if we stand together

Giving Zack Snyder full control was a bad idea, the movie is still going to have a huge opening weekend.

But hoping to have someone step in and take back control or keep Snyder from making the same mistakes with his directing like all the shaky cam and zooms. and hope they have someone take over in Justice League 2, like George Miller. hell have Miller teach Snyder to direct on the set on Justice League next month.

The reviews are disappointing to see so many bad ones was expecting in the 60's. Some seem to be scoring it low because its too different from the Marvel films and too dark. Which i thought was the point of the DC:EU. I have issues with how they did the characters in MoS, but hoping they start to fix them. But love what ive seen of Batman in the trailers. But WB fucked up on the December trailer by showing too much like Doomsday and then having him look like a Ninja Turtle.

I dont understand all the people refunding tickets based on critic reviews, but i look more at fan reaction. And i think the fan reaction has been positive but have avoided most of it in the last few days to avoid spoilers before i see it tomorrow.

All the shitting on the film has made me lower my expectations, but i didnt have high expectations for the Superman stuff the Batman and Wonder Woman stuff has always got my attention more with the film. I hope Lex is also good his persona in the trailers didnt bother me because i see it as him putting on a fake public persona.

they should have went with the suicide squad idea. but this would mean rebooting superman again as well.

my batman v. superman movie would have them both already established. glimpses of bruce's history like that dead robin suit and maybe have him fight a regular mook villain like killer croc or some shit to introduce him.

superman is christopher reeve/captain america/tobey peter parker style nice guy too. not this existential mopey dude.

i dunno why they would fight or even if they would need to, but those details can be ironed out easily by any decent writer.

cut out the rest of the justice league cameos and any weird comic booky dream sequences. dump zack snyder too. great movie. pre-established history is the way to go for this universe, i'm totally cool with that tbh. but i dunno if this film went about that the right way at all. will see on friday.
