my favorite console is the wii cause sony and microsoft only care about money and nintendo doesn't do that so they make good games that i like to play

Nintendo Wii isn't about the core gamer. They've realized it, but it seems like nobody else can. The Wii is all about games like Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, Boom Blox, Fishing, etc. And for what it is, it's a great system. It obviously appeals to the masses and it's really a fun novelty being able to swing a remote like a tennis racket or playing bowling. Not to mention the Virtual Console, which is also a nice bonus.

If you want "core" games then you should always go with a 360 or PS3 depending on whichever library suits you.
 
I totally agree. Thats why I love the Playstation, and have always loved the Playstation. Their first party games are so much better then everyone else's. Not only in terms of quality but also in the rage in the types of games they have.

Sony is obviously the best first party developer because FFXIII versus looks amazing.

I think a lot of people in this thread are confusing exclusives and first party titles.

All 3 companies this gen have developed some great quality titles. For me though i'd agree Sony have definitely stepped up their first party game the most, and this gen have done the best job overall with their old IP's and in creating new IP's.

That said i haven't owned a Wii and only had a 360 for the first year and a half it was released, so i've missed out on a lot. But i struggle to keep up with PS3 games as it is. I definitely want to pick up a Wii and another 360 if i can, it'll all depend on free time and money though.

Well-received Wii 1st Party "core gamer" titles (a year late out the gate): 11 (and I'm considering not counting Brawl due to the atrocious online)
Well-received PS3 1st Party "core gamer" titles (also a year late out the gate): 14

We all know the fucking sales numbers so stop citing them as undisputable proof of Nintendo having the best 1st party lineup. You guys probably think MC Hammer is the best rapper of all time.

And for the sake of argument, 1st party in this thread is being defined as a title with publishing rights held by the maker of the console in all regions I believe.

okay , i'll try to do this properly

Nintendo has the best first party. Why? because their first party software , like it or not, basically won the sales war hands down.

Franchise strength wise in second place X360 has Halo and Gears, both not particularly trivial!

PS3 has quality first party titles, very very good games infact, but they've failed to stoke up the potential buyers. No one is denying their quality, just hasn't helped as much as they should have.


Given a prime purpose of first party is to show case and then move hardware, and ignorning subjective quality etc it's :

Nintendo -> MS -> Sony.

PS2 was known to be popular because of third party support. xbox would sometime get third party game a year late or never at all. usually if they got a game late it would get extras tho. this is nothing like the current gen and 360 getting games early and ps3 ports later with extras. ya.........

Well there is a comparison being made already: "which game is worth my money?"

More people choose WiiFit.

Any one person that chooses WiiFit over whatever "artistic gem" out there negates the opinion of someone on a gaming forum who thinks that the artistic gem is better than WiiFit.

Keep in mind though that I said that opinions do not have a numerical value attached to them, so presenting them as statements and not opinions shows that you believe that yours holds more value than the combined value of many, many other people.

Those people weren't necessarily looking for a video game in the first place though, they were looking for somerthing to help them exercise.
 
When it comes to 1st party developed games, I agree. If you count first party published games I think Microsoft and Sony are pretty much neck and neck. As for Nintendo, they really haven't done much for me outside of Super Mario Galaxy.

This thread is stupid.

Motorstorm was the only 1st party Sony game that really interested me when I had a PS3. Nintendo and MS have just as strong if not stronger lineups. It's all personal taste.

But I think Nintendo has it in the bag this gen with Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Brawl, and Metroid Prime 3.

There's stronger games than each of those, but together, they're kinda like captain planet.

Too late to predict the thread, but are the most people disagreeing saying that Nintendo's first party lineup is superior, and holding that Mario Galaxy alone is worth 10 other first party titles? That would be the only way I see a fanboy could come up with an argument against the OP.
