Probably been asked but how difficult is this game? I don't mind a game with a few challenging sections but I just don't have the time or patience for these ultra hard games like Sekiro or Demons Souls.
I don't play Souls games because of their tedious and time-wasting game mechanics, but this game is great. It doesn't have any death penalties, you can reset your stat boosts and skills freely, and the save points are almost always right before the bosses. It's also not really difficult as you have a lot of options to use in combat like spells, transformations, items, etc. The atmosphere is also not that depressing like in Souls games.

I say give it a go.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife

Imo it's way easier than souls games because of all the options you have in combat aside from just attacking and evading, plus the bosses are prone to letting you attack them instead of constantly spamming attacks.

The bosses in this game have so much personality even without saying anything, i'm loving these double boss fights in chap 5.
I love that sometimes they react to your transformations and spells, like the monk on chapter 1 saying some stuff like "my son! you are back!" if you transform into the fire-lance wielding foxman.

And yes, Pingping is super cute.:messenger_ok:

As someone said the fact that you've got no penalty on death (except time, and time is already a big enough detriment nowadays)is making this game more enjoyable than souls, it is still punishing and hard but feels lighter on MY soul... And I enjoy that... I think this is a thing from should incorporate in their future games

The bull armor set provides you so much resistance to enemy attacks that I never get interrupted during attacks. Hell, i never get staggered. it's actually so effective that i dont see my health get taken down until its too late.

Ive been having a blast playing NG+. On NG+2 now and just trying different stances and different armor sets. This critical hit build was amazing. At one was 68% crit chance with spell binder on. Pretty much every hit was a crit hit. they do such a great job giving you reasons to use different weapons. the dragon thunder weapon is so cool. Erland's thousand sword attack is awesome. Wukong Stance looks awesome too. Just need to beat the game one more time.

Just rolled the credits. 35 hours.

The last bos fight was a bitch. Really, really cool game though. I'll be following Game Science very closely from here on.

Great job!

Like SkylieRKR said it isn't easy but at the same time though I don't think it is quite Souls level most of the time. It does have some bosses that will roadblock you. I had like 3 that killed me more than a dozen times. That last boss was annoying. Felt beatable but I lacked the patience to get good.

Now with renewed confidence I'll try and get past the first level/boss of Demon Souls .

61 hours for me and yeah that last boss fight was a bitch. I'm wondering now if I needed to grind as much I did when playing. Then again I do like grinding and at first I wanted to max out my character but was like this is taking way too long. They need to balance the bosses difficulty a bit more for the next game cause some of these bosses were just plain hell when the rest of the game was easy.

This was one of the big surprises for me this year. The game always looked great when they showed it off, but I somehow doubted that it would be a good game. But it blew me away with how polished, big and awesome it is. Apart from slight traversal stutters it is a technical/graphical tour de force on PC. The animation and boss designs are top of the industry stuff. Just a fun, gorgeous game that can be quite the challenge. Finished with true ending in a bit over 40 hours. All I can say is wow!

Yep. Although I struggled with the Sand chapter final boss a bit, the final boss was the only boss fight that I had to refer to a YouTube video and kind of cheesed my way with a focus / heavy attack strategy in its first phase.

It'd have been really tough to get it done otherwise.

finished yesterday, now i'm torned to start a ng+... i don't really want to, but leaving for holidays in a couple of days i don't want to start a totally new game (damn towerborne is tempting sincerely...) i'll probably get back to diablo while i wait for new season to hit ... anyway game was really fun, pretty inbalanced, i'm quite intrigued by the idea of the dlcs, i just wish there was some form of coop, pve coop is the best coop there is...

Finished chapter 4. Loved the production values of the boss fight against Duskveil. The story between Zhu Bajie and Violet Spider was also interesting. There was a great variety in environments in this chapter and I really loved the secrets as well.

Wish they go a bit more narrative heavy for the next game where they take time to build, explain and take the player on the journey of these stories, rather than just showing an animation at the end. Perhaps a main character that speaks would also help them in the next game.

Another thing I wish was they go more in-depth with combat builds. Currently it's pretty light, and you don't really get the builds going till end game or NG+.

Anyway, it was a great chapter. Onward to Chapter 5.

I struggled with that snake guy in the first chapter, the sand boss , and the last boss. I did refer to youtube for all three but would end up throwing all strategy out the window until that lass boss where I used the tips for that focus/ heavy attack strategy for the last boss. I just ended up grinding my way into beating the first two with a little bit of learning the move sets of those other bosses and luck . I died a lot more with the snake guy but he made me pay attention a lot more to how the bosses attack which made the game a lot easier.

Snake dude show how wildly different experiences with bosses can be, i think i beat him on second try without much fuss but i probably died 20 times against bosses that other peope bested on first try.

I can totally understand folks beating him on the second try. It was that delay in his final attack in his combo that kept throwing me off for the longest time. It was mostly me not paying enough attention to the timing of his attacks for the longest time.

You can check out a few videos to see what they are talking about, it's very funny.

Quick as fire/fast as wind are grumpy coworkers blaming each other. Misty cloud/cloudy mist is similar.

Top takes bottom/bottom takes top are a sassy couple having banters nonstop. I love them.

The headbutt spirit is viable throughout the entire game but don't sleep on some others. Non Able gives you boosts accross the board and he recharges fast. His attacks are pretty good, if you do it before the end of a combo he'll do a smash that topples opponents and you still do your finisher after it.

The Gore Eyed gives a flat mana boost, and a big attack boost when he is up. The Bat is crazy, it completely freezes opponents which means you can continously freeze them with a Qi build. Poison snakes is a good spirit too, they spam the opponent with poison.

The Verdant glow regens health and even more so in water and I think it procs with the serpent armor? So it would be a good spirit vs the final boss. The frog can be upgraded to mythical for some reason, and it uses all frogs in the game. Puppet tick reduces mana cost of the OP pluck of many. Against Erlang I prefer to use the Ball spirit from chapter 5.

There are quite some reasons to ditch the baby.

Do that fucking ball even talk? i didn't even noticed.
And i never fought against them, there was that part of the level where you avoid the ball and then the cinematic where the boar go down with the ball and then you find the body and suck the souls

You've missed the secret area in that chapter.

It's beyond a gate of ice. In order to open it you have to beat all the fire-spitting carts. Check out the teleport menu, you should see the friendly bull man is now at the Yhaksaa Palace instead of at the start of the chapter. Go talk to him and then head back to the ice gate.

The snake boss decimated me the first time I met.

On my second try, he barely moved an inched before I killed him - and I didn't grind/leveled up at all.

It is just one of those games. Some find some bosses difficult, while others find other bosses difficult.

So far, I think the final boss is the one that is considered unanimously difficult. And, probably, the Sand boss too.

Yeah, I was testing some of these and the boosts they provide. It's interesting for sure and will be giving them more of a go later on once I get some builds going. There is spirit that makes your defense 0, but gives 25% attack lol. Currently still need to craft/upgrade various armors to complete their sets.

Did you find the secret area in chapter 5? That's the part I was talking about. If not go look for it, it's important for getting true ending too.

I am now rocking a Qi build again, and I wasted so much before that the legs are stuck on Epic. But its fast, man. Esp with a crit build (fuban, pills etc) with mobile spin maxed. Qi regens at a ridiculous rate if you manage to pull off a long mobile spin string. So you can cast spirits and vessels for days. Pilgrim is downright fun in NG+ runs too. You run twice as fast, and focus builds during runs.

And did you guys know about the hidden chest in Chapter 6? At the first shrine turn around and summon the cloud towards the first upper plateau you see, its very close by. There is a chest there next to the tree root. It has the

original Wukong set, which is a set at Common level and it can't be upgraded. But its apparently the best set in the game as it boosts with the amount of relics you have awakened. So after all 18 relics it should be the best, but this requires NG++++ for 3 completes... kind of makes it moot at this point probably.

Yeah yeah i just fought the couple during the last session, pretty easy fight.

When i wrote the last post i was still doing stuff in chap 5.

Btw i can tell from just 2 tries that the final boss of chap 5 (i think) is gonna be a bitch to fight...

The 4 focus smash looks so damn cool man.

I use smash mostly because of it. Wish Pillar and thrust had unique animations for 4 focus.
yeah big missed opportunity especially since thrust is the best stance of them all.

in fact, they shouldve allowed us to have those takedowns used by bosses. erland has like six awesome moves where he throws you around like a ragdoll. i fucking love how cinematic those moves get and wish we inherited some of them. especially the grab moves.

the mobile spin is pretty much essential in regenerating Qi for the erland boss fight so you can summon the tornado again. but other than that, i never use it. the bull armor set that increases attack based on defense or the other critical attack builds are just so much better. i kill most mobs in one hit and most bosses in seconds. no need to build up Qi at all.

Kinda sucks that you need multiple runs to upgrade all the gear, havinga bunch of spirits maxed out is basically impossible without multiple NG cycles, they should fix that with the DLC.

Well, NG+ felt like super easy mode but NG++ seems to up the ante again. Enemies hit hard, despite my high level and maxed out gear and defensive stats. The White Noble was tough again, and I lost againt the golden guy once because he literally 2 shot me out of nowhere while he was no threat otherwise.

Shit fight because of the mobility. You need to evade the mud phase, or use cloud step or something. I think Ring of Fire works here too. You can't deliver the final blow when he is in this phase, which is kind of lame.

Little question,
is chap 6 supposed to be explored with the cloud (so more broadly for lack of better words), or the game expect that i explore every single piece of land meticolously and just use the cloud to move from place to place.

Not sure if the question is clear enough, it's just to adjust my approach to exploration since this area is pretty differenf from before.
