Black Myth Wukong runs at 4K 30FPS/1440p 60FPS on PS5

Pro doesn't have 2x more raw power.
Pixels don't scale linearly with 'power' either - anyway the same leaks that 'confirmed' 40% 'rendering power' increase also confirmed 2x resolution/framerate in early target games.
So really - either you believe it, or you don't - but you don't get to select a buffet of things that you find preferable from the leak.

I love how developers use resolutions now.
To be fair this has been going on for a good decade before DF became a thing - people just didn't know about it until mid-PS3 gen when DF got on the case finally.
It's why there are 'surprises' coming out later, that a lot of GCN and PS2 libraries (and some XBox even) ran at 512x480 or some version of thereof.

But fair - dynamic res wasn't common until PS4 era, to which we have no real answer for (what is even the actual averages of any dyna-res games is impossible to measure without developer assistance on consoles).

If they optimised pc version in the same way I should easily get 60fps-120fps at native 4k and high/max settings on my PC then. Nice.

Shame about the 60fps mode, that should just be a patch for the Pro version. Still most likely a day 1 buy.

It's funny how the same people keep calling those of us who want to play at 60fps "nerds", I mean is there anything more nerdy than that? 😂

This is great news. I’ll be playing on PC but it’s nice to know I can still enjoy it on my PS5 whenever I choose to double dip on PS5. 60fps should always be an option. 30fps in 2024 is a big NO!

This game uses very demanding UE5, and to get UE5 to run at 60fps on PS5, developers have to sacrifice image quality (internal resolution) too much. I think a 40fps mode would provide much better image quality and still offer an enjoyable experience.

I'm going to play Black Myth Wukong on PC because it was bundled with my GPU, but I'm not expecting high refreshrate experience either because the game is loaded with RT technology. According to a benchmark on Nvidia's site, GPU requirements are extreme, the RTX 3080 only gets around 25-27fps at 1440p DLSS quality with RT effects turned on, so it will be necessary to turn on FG even on RTX 40 series GPIs to get over 60fps. I think most people on PC will prefer to just turn off RT and get much better performance, because if the PS5 can run this game at 60fps without RT, midrange GPUs on PC should get even better results.

Pal is back, baby!
You joke about it, but it is stupid to have TVs (tons and tons of models without VRR) that could easily enjoy a 50 Hz or 45 Hz locked title: the TV can support 50 Hz easily (100 Hz but doubling frames to keep OLED panels happy) as refresh rate and the level of fluidity is essentially super similar to 60 Hz at a considerably lower rendering costs more games could support.

I'm considering saving this game until I can play it with all bells and whistles on a 5090 next year. But if it's amazing i'll probably play it on my 3090 without ray/patch tracing.
Looks so cool!

That’s damn good considering how good looking this game is.

We dont know what settings the 4K or 1440p upscaled modes are using.
They could turn off basically all advanced settings to hit these resolutions/framerates.

I don’t know what magic Demon’s Souls remake was able to pull out running at native 1440p and 60 fps and looking like a proper next gen game. Why are we going backwards from that?
Bunch of modern graphical shit that eats tons of perfomance and you need to stop gaming and look at puddles or grass to really see. Its the stupidest gen in graphical gimmick push by far.

If it can run at 60 fps on the base PS5, we can probably expect 4K60 with effects on PS5 Pro... Will probably be a PS5 Pro highlight for the year.
It'll certainly look better, but it wouldn't be a 2x jump.

PS5 Pro isn't going to be twice as powerful as the PS5, so there's no reason to expect 2x better performance.

Why do developers refuse to use 120hz/40fps modes? I’m playing Lies of P using that mode and the graphics look significantly improved over the 60fps mode, and the game still looks and feels smooth even on my OLED.

This mode should be standard by now. Xbox has supported 120hz from the start and PS5 has had it for a while. My TV from 2019 supported 120hz.

Do people really choose to play an action game at 30fps in the year 2024? hahaha. Dear lord there are some special people out there. Good for you fellas!

Does it require more graphics horsepower out of a PS5 to do 120Hz/40fps over 60Hz/30fps?

Yep, frame has to be rendered in 25ms compared to 33ms (16.6ms for 60fps) for 30fps. But when games have dynamic resolution it just drops to lower bounds.

It's in between 30 and 60 so if they have 60fps mode there is no good excuse to not add 40fps mode.
