So the person being a racist shit head in the first film is now going to be Black Panther? Great, I wonder how many times she will continue to demonize the ”colonizers” this time?
Honestly if it wasn’t for her, I would have enjoyed the first movie a lot more. Namor looks great and I think I am far more interested in that almost aztecian design than I am for anything in Wakanda.
I haven't seen the movie in forever, but I thought those bits were jokes (bad predictable jokes, but still jokes). I thought the first Black Panther was pretty mediocre myself, with meh dialogue, characterizations, and un-convincing developments --I don't feel like the ruler of a powerful nation with a powerful history of self-sustaining isolation would, seemingly overnight, change his mind and open Wakanda up to worldly affairs because he feels bad for the bad guy. Like c'mon, a change like that needs more power, self-realization, some kind of larger development. I wasn't feeling it there. The director needs to quit watching the news and start reading some good historic books. The world of Wakanda has a ton of potential, but it ain't gonna be realized if T'Challa's dad was "wrong" just cuz, or have dumb American jokes and political commentary sprinkled in cause, I don't know, the director lives in the moment, Trump is president, and he don't like the dumb wall being used to prevent trouble from coming in, when Wakanda (USA) is so rich and has so much to offer the rest of the world, and poor Killmonger and others like him, waaaahhhhh!
The moment now, however, is that Chadwick Boseman is no longer with us. Plus, we seem to be slowly getting away from that injustice victim mentality (I hope, anyway). I'm hopeful that we'll see further world-building for Wakanda, and I expect 'honor', 'legacy' and such to actually be revered much more convincingly, as the production crew has a more personal connection with T'Challa's passing, and his sister taking up the mantle... will depend on how they handle it. Shuri is not fit for ANY kind of combat, but she is suppose to be super smart. I don't think the writers have got the chops/brains to write a 'super smart' character, more so, one that'll need brains to build suit, weaponry, and outwit foes to fill in a VERY huge physical deficit, as she looks like someone who'd throw a punch that comes off more like a light slap. But hey, we all like watching the underdog pull through tough odds. Hopefully Wakanda Forever can surprise me. I plan on watching it as I am a fan of Letitia Wright (love her faith and personality, and she's largely non-political), and I loved Chadwick, and man did he go too soon.
Hopefully the movie turns out really good. It'd be a pleasant surprise for me. The trailer doesn't tell me much about the quality of the story, but it was very pretty and I liked the music. Stick to that style, and less of the rap stuff, and I'll be singing this soundtrack's praises.
