I fucking love these magazines. They're so creative in ways that men's mags never approach. It must be awesome to believe some of this shit, the world most feel so fantastical.
That's our new band name right there, Jed.
I dunno, from my extremely limited interaction with her, she seemed a little bit snobby/uber-hip for my liking (and that's me saying that). A very London musician, you know the sort. Super talented though.
A little bit from Column A, a little bit from Column B.
Still, that cool/calm/totally derisive thing is pretty hawt. I'd like Emmy to look at me with disdain.
This is the dream. Here's a picture of a generic family having some quality time in their new conservatory:
"Whoa, heavy."Haha, what you need is a time travelling bikini to sort this mistake out before you committed it!
Talent goes a long way. Primus for example, I really enjoy around half of their stuff, but some of it just seems like wanky noodling to me (and I can't stand Claypool's voice). But fuck if Brain and Claypool don't lay down that funk, that band have musical ability falling out of their pockets.I dunno, from my extremely limited interaction with her, she seemed a little bit snobby/uber-hip for my liking (and that's me saying that). Nah, I found about three before I realised it was asking you to meticulously scroll around an entire map of the globe clicking on little images of pokeymanz. Yeah, no.
You can sort of feel sorry for the writers of them, they've had to make up so much shit to fill these to do their job that they have to keep going even more fucking insane in terms of story to do something new. And then occasionally you do have a real person believe something and you have to speak to them as if they are in any way rational. And then twist and manipulate their story and add lies. Actually feel less sorry for them now thinking that through.
At least making up the letters page might be fun.

Fucking hell, I just read the Mandrake summary for this thread. I knew CobraGT had some 'wacky' views from prior posts, but this thread looks like it'll be golden. Must find time to read all 17 pages at some point.
I've always thought a gaming site that parodies weekly gossip mags would be really funny, but honestly you can't beat the real thing.
There is a guy who makes gaming side OTs like that. Ground Zeroes was one.
BritGAF, is it actually possible to live in London without being a rich arab oil prince? all this shit is so fucking expensive.
(an a related note, might come to the meetup, starting new internship next week though and friday is the day we get drunk)
It must be amazing, the writers must be full of seething contempt for their audience. I wonder if there's any other form of media where the authors so obviously hate and think so little of their audience?
I think these publications must be doing bad things to their audience's brains but I don't know if I can articulate it in a way that is horribly offensive to all women (eg this this why women are so stupid - no wait I didn't mean it like that, please don't hurt me Musha!!)
Yeah I know what you mean. I've played a few solo female singer songwriters and I don't know if they're just rude or scared but trying to get a hello out of them is like trying to milk a cat. Must be something about the folk, it's so serious and shit.
Still, that cool/calm/totally derisive thing is pretty hawt. I'd like Emmy to look at me with disdain.
When I used to be all social and sceney I met so many people like this. To be honest, the only thing that comes to mind is 'twat'.
Drum 'n' Folk sounds like an awesome genre.Did you play much yourself? I can imagine you doing some serious Derek Bailey-esque shredding over a delicately distorted Drum N Folk backing, whilst Prince-style synths and vocals wail over the top.
I'm spot on, right?

Yes.
Actually, I tried that for a while. I also played in a 'band' that wanted to be Interpol and one that wanted to be Pixies.
Oo bugger I also produced some hip hop tracks too. But the rapper I worked with was a moron. I've lost them though, I'd definitely share them.
But I ditched all that a while ago and decided I was only going to play country twangy guitar and/or R&B guitar (in the sense of Stax, Atlantic etc). Fewer notes, more feel, basically. I get distracted though and end up playing slooowwlly.
You tried Avant-Drum 'N' Folk Synth Pop?!
EDIT: ...and Hip-hop? Really? Can we listen?
So you still play, right?
Honey, I tried everything.
I just need to find them. They're at my mum and dad's and I can't go back since I was booted out.
Edit- ish. I'm not really into making music at the moment.
Ah, fair enough.
I know it all sounds a bit fantastical but my parents were both working musicians and although we lived in a tiny house in the bad-ish part of Blackpool almost every room had some kind of musical instrument or recording equipment. We had something like two organs, 2 keyboards, about 5 or 6 guitars, a bass, a piano, a 4 track, some tape echo stuff, sequencers, amps, cabinets, a drum kit and so on. So as an only (and lonely) I had the run of some of them (not the Gibson!) and of my dad's music computer stuff - we had an Amiga which he used to use for scoring things.
Not together any more sadly. Not pop-punk, either ;P
That's a shame, this is pretty great
And I do venture out of pop-punx a lot of the time, as surprising as that may be
And just because I feel the need to bring this up as much as possible and it's vaguely relevant, Feeder deserve more recognition. I mean listen to this shit. This is fucking rad.
Hey, I'm not doubting you. That "Honey..." bit just sounded sassy!
Sounds awesome. I'd love a set up like that for Evy Eris... well, mainly for me but her too! I just get her hitting cheap bongos and my beat up acoustic. Her eyes light up when the guitar comes out. So cute!
Ah, the Amiga. Must've been ProTracker, right? I loved that. I used to mess around with the Flashback score and Enola Gay.
NOT LYING. GOING TO LISTEN TO PRIMAL SCREAM TO PROVE IT. THEN SOME HELL IS FOR HEROES.U LYING Y R U LYING
I can't at work, but I'll have a listen when I get back. I must admit did enjoy the first album waaaaay back in my yoot, mostly because I thought the bass player was funny. He was always so enthusiastic!
I know, I was just being defensive!
It was Ok from a creativity and bored horizon perspective. But terrible from a socialisation perspective and kind of deprived me of my parents (music was their life, perhaps a bit more than having a child) so don't make that mistake!!

Feeder are legitimately my favourite band. They've got the perfect combination of nostalgia 'cause they were the first band I liked and actually being genuinely great.
RobotNinjaHornets seems to think Screamadelica is better than XTRMNTR.
A) Fuck off, Screamadelica yoBy God it better be Xtrmntr you're listening to or so help me I'll give you such a pranging...
Feeder are aiiiight but first album Hell Is For Heroes is godly.

Xtrmntr is so much better than everything else they ever did. But it's better than most things. Although Vanishing Point was Ok.
But Kill All Hippies, Shoot Speed, Mbv Arkestra, swastika eyes, blimey. That record is like a tank from start to finish.

Bobbie Gillespie: "Tonight, Matthew, I'm going to be... IN THE ROLLING STONES! BUT SHIITER!"
Puh-lease, girl.
You've confused Screamadelica and Give Out But Don't Give Up there pal
Nope. I'm thinking of "Moving On Up" and "Sympathy for the Devil".
That's one song that's completely different from the rest of the album. Though I'd be impressed if The Rolling Stones had come out with Don't Fight It, Feel It or Higher Than The Sun
They wouldn't lower themselves
Disclaimer: I'm not even a RS fan! TEE HEE!
Yep, it's been confirmed for a while, can't wait. The first series is probably the best looking TV show I've ever seen. So underappreciated.
Cannot wait for S2. The soundtrackand cinematography in the original series was astounding. Unfortunately the plotting unravelled a bit.
I think we can also agree that this is their best video:
Primal Scream - Miss Lucifer
It's an absolute banger too, love it.
